AGREED. I will also never forgive how they VIOLATED poor Bustopher Jones in the other movie. They COMPLETELY misinterpreted his character. Bustopher Jones is dignified.....he's proper.....he's the charming gentleman.....he's HIGHLY respected by the other cats.....he has the monocle and the spats and the rose and he walks with an air of charm and refined manners with his smile and his silver spoon. He eats well because that's what he desires as a proper gentleman (and it also shows that he is clever and resourceful to have multiple sources of food, while living on the streets). THIS Bustopher Jones would not be caught dead swimming through trash and glutting himself.....or HISSING at another cat. lol. And he's PROUD of his size....he's not ashamed of it. And Tugger as well. I don't think the new guy EVEN BOTHERED to watch John Partridge's performance when preparing for the role.....or he would have seen that Tugger is a feline sex god who ENJOYS flirting and flexing his body at the pretty lady cats. lol I WILL say, Ian McKellan did a very nice job as Gus. That was a sincerely heartfelt performance and I felt it equalled the Gus in this movie. I also liked Jennifer Hudson's Memory. Not as good as Elaine, of course....but she, at least, put emotion into her performance.

There's only cats in the show. Cats dress up as mice and cockroaches (and a train) using stuff from the junkyard they're in. It's a more interesting idea than whatever the film was doing.

They make fun of the rich cats weight(dont remeber his name sorry bad memory) a little but not the same as what they did in the movie

Okay, she definitely didn't peel her skin off. It's like taking off a coat. There was a zipper if you look close enough. There was even the sound effect of the the zipper.

Jennyanydot could've worn actual clothing like some of the other cats. I'm picturing her wearing a ton of crocheted clothing: a cardigan, a beanie, gloves, and a giant scarf. All of this would've reflected Jennyanydots's crocheting ability and teachings. It would've also been a more logical cover for her dance costume.

Even something like a large skirted dress (mid 19th century sort of thing) would be more character accurate and less creepy

I definitely prefer 98 gumbie cat, she is like a sweet, cute, and strong mother figure to everyone, while the movie made her a dumb comic relief character. And I really hated that they cut Demeter, Bomba, and Jelly's singing part and turn it into a boring solo

Bbbb Ssss I’m still pretty new to this musical, but I think the scene would have worked better in the movie and played nicely to his more shy attitude if they kept it as someone else (Munkustrap or Tugger) singing about him the whole time and forcing him into the limelight except for maybe after Old Deuteronomy returns.

You see the "adult" cats being a little more subtle and laid back, while the "kittens" are often jumping around, bouncy, poking fun at the other cats, etc. I've noticed the kittens are usually grouped together separate from the adults, probably to make it easier to identify them

I took it to mean they were playfully mocking him for needing to tell all the cats in attendance about this one hot momma cat he knows. Because it seemed obvious to my young brain that he either loved or had a crush on her.

He is such a little kitten, a kitten who is brave enough to try to have a bit of spot-light at the start of The Old Gumbie Cat and to call Rum Tum a "Terrible bore". He's my favorite character....

In the behind the scenes, Misto's actor describes him as not being a kitten, but also not being an adult yet. I love seeing the juxtaposition, where at times he'll act very grown up and sophisticated, and yet other times will devolve entirely back into a kitten nature- Bustopher Jones ia a really good example of both sides to this. The actor does such a tremendous job portraying this in a entirely visual nature

He got embarrassed after Mugojerrie and Rumpleteaser started making fun. Then they’re just joking about Munkustrap’s movements. The only time they’re mocking Jenny is during the cockroach tattoo bit. You can see Mungojerrie pretending to come after her with a fork at one point.

Every character..so when cats came to Dallas in November..we went twice..and of course these are all different actors..they were good..but no one can ever take the place of the original on DVD..vhs..we were oh my god they didnt do this step ..or on my they didnt do this or that. But we had a great time..

That's a cool idea. I really like how the relationships between the cats isn't spelled out for you so you can kind of imagine your own. I always thought Monkastrap was one of Old Deuteronomy oldest children because he's often seen next to the old man helping him and talking to him in the background. They're also colored very similarly. Also I like to think Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks are brother and sister because of the sweet way they wave to each other during her song. Even if that's not intended to be interpreted that way, it's a lot of fun to.

To be honest, a school probably could not really pull Cats off. This show lives from stunning visuals and dance, and while some high schoolers might be able to sing well, I doubt that they could pull off these kind of dance routines.
