Prudence Farrow,Mia Farrow’s sister. Both of them joined the Beatles and their wives/girlfriends in 1967 along with a few others to India to visit the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.John ‘s song was about Prudence being reclusive and trapped inside herself and the others coaxing her out of her shell

John Lennon's singing voice is one of a kind.
@rubbersole79
@rubbersole79 Жыл бұрын
In their younger days John wasn't always comfortable with how his recorded voice sounded so George Martin suggested they "double" it, which they often continued doing the rest of their career. On a side note, Kurt Cobain had the same issue recording "Nevermind" and producer Butch Vig suggested the same thing and goaded Kurt into it saying "John Lennon did it", knowing Kurt was a huge fan of John's.

I love this song. My sister’s name is Prudence. The song is a plea to their friend who was isolating from her group of friends. I love John Lennon’s voice in this (and every other song ❤️). There’s just so much going on with their music. Little embellishments that sound so perfect. The best of the best made everyday life into works of auditory art. The Beatles continue to shape my life. 🌺✌️

Prudence took Transcendental Meditation to heart, so she was meditating all day and night while the others were out singing and socializing. So John Lennon wrote this song about her.

"Dear Prudence" was decades ahead sonically. Bands were still learning from it in the eighties, even the nineties, probably still to this day. The guitar tone, the bass line, the lead guitar tone, the deceptively simple drum line. The arrangement and the lyrics. Side one track two. "Sexy Sadie" is a nice follow up song from that same album. Side three track five. One might say it's the diss track complement to "Dear Prudence".

Prudence was trying to achieve enlightenment ahead of everyone else at the meditation compound. John Lennon wanted her to experience life outside her head for a bit, she was missing the beauty of nature and life. This is my #1 favorite song, not just because of the heartfelt message (The Sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful and so are you) but because of the incredible production. Listen to it again but ignore the lyrics, hear how each instrument is introduced, how the song floats in at the beginning and floats away at the end, how it ebbs an flows, builds to a climax with the electric guitar and piano, the excellent drum fill. An incredible job of production.

John Lennon wrote this song for Prudence Farrow sister of Mia Farrow the actress. Mia and Prudence were at the retreat that the Beatles were at in India. Prudence was spooked by all the papparazi hanging around and was spending a lot of time in her room. So John wrote this song to try to coax her out of her room. Mia Farrow talks about it on a talk show video I saw. You can look it up on youtube.

Yes, Paul played drums on this because Ringo had felt unappreciated and had temporarily left. What’s really fascinating is the who played bass question. There’s been ongoing discussion that it was Paul, or John, or Klaus Voorman. Paul has said that it wasn’t him, it was John. John also played bass on Helter Skelter. Paul also said it was definitely himself. An engineer at the session swears it was Klaus Voorman. I can’t understand the confusion over the bass credit. But whoever it was did a great job.

This song is about Prudence Farrow, Mia Farrow's Sister. Prudence had become obsessed with meditating to the point of doing anything else. This was in early 1968 during a trip to India. A little trivia Paul McCartney played the drums on this song and "Back in the U.S.S.R." The reason for this was Ringo Star had walked out on the rest of the Guys.
