The Bee Gees' live performance of "Massachusetts" in London in 1989 was truly remarkable. The iconic band took the stage with their signature harmonies and infectious energy, captivating the audience from the very first note. As the crowd sang along to every word, the brothers Gibb showcased their incredible vocal range and impeccable musicianship. The performance was a testament to their enduring talent and the timeless appeal of their music. The Bee Gees' rendition of "Massachusetts" was a nostalgic journey back to the 1960s, reminding everyone of the band's influential role in shaping the sound of that era. The combination of their soulful voices, captivating stage presence, and the electric atmosphere of the live setting made this performance an unforgettable experience for both the band and their fans.

Thanks for your reaction-- I appreciate your appreciation. My fave lead singer is whoever has the lead of the trio, and my personal fave singer is Barry Gibb-- always Barry! . I try to give all the Bee Gees their just due, because they are genius musicians. Great performance of one of their immortal classics!! But you should also check out the original track-- Bee Gees first #1 hit in the UK and many countries around the world and a #11 in the USA. It's a gorgeous song! (Their first #1 hit in the USA Billboard is "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.")

Barry is playing guitar. Robin is lead on this song. They all three could take lead, love it when they switch leads in a song, like How can you mend a broken heart, Gotta get a message to you and Wedding Day ❤❤ love your reactions

Robin and Barry had about equal numbers of lead vocals in the 60s and early 70s. It was really only in the late 70s where Barry was "the lead singer". This was their first UK number 1.

No, that's not Barry and Barry did not always sing lead. Robin was my favourite of the brothers and everyone had their own favourite. He composed most of their songs with Barry including many hits they wrote for other stars. Maurice was the brother who put Barry's and Robin's melodies and lyrics to music. Robin's voice was unique and angelic with a natural vibrato (the quavering sound) and he often sang ballads because that suited his voice. He was called the best white soul voice of his generation. Try "I started a joke" from the same concert or "Bodyguard" which was a later song and is very bluesy. He also sang up tempo songs like "Fallen Angel" and "When he's gone". Early on he sang @50% of their songs. Barry sang most of the "disco" leads sometimes co-singing with Robin. The Bee Gees are among the top five record sellers and composers of all time.

Barry wasn’t always the lead, that’s Robin with the beautiful vocals. Check out Maurice singing lead closer than close (live Las Vegas)

I think the concert where this song was done in Melbourne 1989 was by far the best. All were in top form and having fun. To me the Las Vegas one lacked the same spark but that's just the one most people know.
