Put the seats down and there is enough room for a great tip run.
It's as economical as they come, returning 60mpg on a motorway run.
It's packed with technology and spec.
It looks, feels, and drives sporty.
Quite the package deal, not the best at any of the above, but has it all.
In this video, I get down and dirty with the Mk7.5 Golf GTD.

One of the best reviews on here don’t think the car gets the credit deserves because of it being compared to the GTI I’ve had mine 10 months now & cant complain at all get 44mpg driving to work & 55 mpg on long runs. When you tap gear lever into sport it turns into a different car a lot more responsive & gearbox slows it down well when stopping just had a minor service & DSG recall & car drives a lot better & gearbox is more responsive in normal mode

I have 68 plate. It’s actually 181BHP, 7.5 seconds and managed 68.2MPG on motorway.

Mines 67 plate and I get about 45mpg day to day in sport mode and 55-60mpg on the motorway using the ACC. I’m very happy with it

Golfs have always been all rounders and gtd is the best if you care about mpg

@@robtallentire1051 I’ve recently just made one of my dreams come true and purchased a 2018 GTD. Absolutely love it always been a golf kind of guy even though I’ve had my problems with them in the past but wow just being behind the steering wheel looking down at the dash board never mind the drive of the beast!!!

I've had a GTD for 3 years now, it's on a 67 plate in tungsten silver paint with the digital speedo. And I've been looking for a new car to replace it and I can't find anything as good or better. To make me move on.

How did you find the suspension setup? I'm looking for an efficient car that's great comfort too :)

For a traditional suspension setup i.e. not on air, i think it was really comfortable.

White GTD owner myself (albeit manual considering the switch to DSG); literally the lack of leather seats is the one thing I love....totally agree about leather heated seats....also share your dislike for suede....looks nice but a disaster to clean.. Does the DSG electric brake auto release like the manual?

Hey Shane, yes it does. It’s a nice drive with the manual box to be fair, in charge of the drive. But the DSG is such a lazy, worry free, smooth drive I think it pips it.

@@kylescarstories2141 Yeah I think both have their ups and downsides. Does the electric brake still auto disengage once you apply the throttle? Just in the manual it automatically disengages once the clutch is releaseed.

I happen to own one of these, a 2015 Golf GTD. While it is a good car, it is far from "the best". I happen to also have a 2019 Ford Focus which is miles better. More silent, more comfortable, bigger, better trim and cheaper. I really like my GTD, but the comfort on rough roads is not good and consumption in bigger sities with lots of traffic lights and stop'n'ngo traffic is abysmal (speaking 10L/100km or 23 mpg). I also can't really befriend the DSG, but that one is on me, not the car.

Each to their own. I prefer Golf’s personally but the focus is a good choice too. I think modern Fords are really nice and you get a lot of kit for your money.
