I also really enjoyed Daisy Darker, although I figured out the twist on about page 90. I actually guessed both twists! But it didn't take away my enjoyment. I loved Pen Pal! I bought Lease on Life because of you 😃 haven't read it yet though. My top reads of this year would be Hidden Pictures, The House Across the Lake, The Children on the Hill, and Near the Bone.

YES! I am so glad We Spread is your #1! I'm reading Booktubers' favorite books in January, and I grabbed it from the library because I knew you, Kayla, and Riley all loved it and I was hoping one of you would have it as a favorite. For it to be your #1 is absolutely PERFECT. And seeing how emotional you get just talking about it is making me so excited to read it-there's nothing better than when a book can make such a strong emotional impact. I'm also terrified of dementia and losing my memories, and of not being able to take care of myself, so I'm hoping it'll hit me as much as it did you!

December has been such a sad cloudy month and the last few books I've read since October were baaaaad. I wish I was more upbeat and happy and had the energy to decorate like these book tubers. I just finished Kiss Her Once for Me last night and really enjoyed it. I also read Emily Henry this year for the first time (Beach Read and People We Meet) and loved both of them so I bought Book Lovers when it came out and haven't gotten to it yet lol. Notes on an Execution is on my list to read!

If you like those kind of themes, I'd definitely recommend watching The Father. Starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. I saw it at the cinema and it was such a brilliant film ☺ Very moving

We Spread seems soooo good. I just don't know that I can handle it right now.

I haven't even narrowed mine down yet. It's either going to be the sunbearer trials by Aiden Thomas or The Charm Offensive. I just knew your # 1 was going to be We Spread. I still need to read book lovers, the dead romantics, and kiss her once for me. I don't do my favorite books of the year video until after the first. Just because I might find 1 or 2 more before the end of the year, even though we don't have much longer.

My favs were Lock Every Door by Riley Sager, The Hacienda, and Verity by Colleen Hoover. I love reading Allen Eskin's books too -- he was acriminal defense attorney who left the field to write full time. I also read some of Patti Smith's stuff, and read letters/correspondence by Sam Shepard the playwright and really enjoyed them. I HATE the idea of anybody on an adult channel doing Young Adult books, because they are (for crying out loud) directed to twelve year old people. I think adults should have their own books they can read at an adult word level. I love this channel - thanks Gabby - you're so sweet!

My fav book this year, and no, its not one you'd like, is still Remarkably Bright Creatures. I may have to reread it next year and that's saying something. Not a re reader.

I usually read a good amount of the books you have read that same year, but sometimes there are some I don’t get to, and they end up making your top list of books. Then what I usually do is read them the upcoming year. 😂 For that reason, my favorite book of 2022 is Project Hail Mary (which I know is your favorite book of 2021). Who knows maybe my top book of 2023 will be We Spread when I read it in January 2023. 😂

You've definitely got to continue with Death note! One of my favourite books I read in 2022 was a "death note story" about the character L before the events of death note which was really good! It's called Another note.

Gabby I love ur videos. You always have great energy. Ur always fair when it comes to books u don't like and genuine love for the ones u do. It always motivates me to keep adding books and wanting to explore more adventures. I watched another booktuber hate on Colleen Hoover and it bummed me out with them calling it trash. So I unsubscribed. I know everyone has different tastes in books but I could never trash on someone's time and hard work writing.

crossroads one of the most brutal self harm ?? i have not read this but i have read a little life by hanya yanagihara ( one of your faves) and that did have some bruutal scenes, crossroads did not have more brutal scenes than a little life did it ? :)

i was a bit bummed out that your top 15 didnt include many writers of color….should definitely diversify your reads in terms of authors. & i’d be curious to see how many books you read in 2023 if you dont use audiobooks or at least dont listen to them at a speed above 2.5 lol.
