Howdy Everyone, today I'm unboxing and building the QK60! A little late to the party I know but that's sea freight for you. I've really enjoyed using this and was pretty surprised with how quickly I adapted to a keyboard without arrow keys.
Don't hate me but I kinda dig that foam sound.
I really hope you enjoy the video, please let me know what you think of the QK60 and whether you plan on getting one at the Round 2 release.

I remember when I bought the QK60 and I was like, "I'll probably get tired of living without the arrow keys and end up shelving it away." But the aesthetic of a 60% is just so good, and the polycarbonate makes it look so classy.

100% agree. I’m honestly considering other 60% keyboards because of how much I enjoyed the layout and how easy it was to use the fn+ keys for arrows. Would love to see more frosted pc and acrylic cases too

nice build! how hard was it to fit and remove the red jackets to and from the plate?
@dill-keebs

Cheers! Fitting them in was interesting, for a minute I thought I was doing it wrong but the PE sheet had no cutouts for the switch pins. As for taking them out, there were a few stubborn ones, but i found that removing the plate from the pcb first made it easier to fiddle with the switches from either side!

I missed the arrow keys at first, but I made right bottom cluster double as the arrow keys when I hold the Fn key.

Does the sound a bit thin to you? Look wise this keyboard is pretty, sounds meh though.
@dill-keebs

To be honest I haven’t really noticed it, I will admit the sound is quite monotone however I feel like QK boards haven’t tried to hide these expectations, with their recommendations to build it with foams and such. However, I did notice with the recent QK80 they have a ‘no flex-cut’ pcb option, and I think for those who notice the thin sounds of a flex-cut pcb then this is a step in a better direction. Appreciate the comment!

@@dill-keebs Mine sounds thin, even with all the foams. FR4 plate with Tangies. Maybe it has something to do with the switch because my QK65 sounds a lot better. Yes the no flex-cut is really nice, I hope they make it an option for their future keyboards! Thank you for the response, love your vids!

@@breasthopper add 1 layer tape mod to cover flex cuts then remove all foams or just put the pcb foam, it will add volume and reduce the thin sound.
