That’s a stunner! In video, looks like a brightness of at least 4. Even freeform, final gem is probably $500 per ct or more, in my almost completely amateur opinion. :) I have a couple smaller pieces of very similar (but oddly shaped) rough that needs carving, 1.5 to 2 cts each. You’ve motivated me to break them out.
@RoysRocks

Get em out and clean them up brother! Yeah retail people would ask up to around $500+/ct for this type of material for sure.

Great job on great opal. If I were Jullian, I would have asked you to do both sides. As a pendant on a swivel bail, it would be spectacular - no matter which side was showing. As it is, the back of the stone will likely never be seen. It's one thing to leave the back alone if there is sand and other problems, but I could dremel that one myself (and I'm not a very good flex-shafter!) I am sure that there must be factors that we don't know about (like it belongs to somebody who wants to use it in a way where the back will never be seen)
@RoysRocks
@RoysRocks Ай бұрын
It might already have a setting designed for it I think. It was a very strict "do not change the shape" kinda job. Sometimes that makes the job easier... sometimes not so much. I just like holding the quality stuff sometimes. The shops in town I go and just look at the cut stones they have during a lunch break if I haven't done it for a while.
@PulitzerOpal
