For the best cleaner on the market in my honest opinion is the Citrus heavy duty degreaser at Homedepot. Make sure you get the orange stuff its safe on plastics aluminum and gun parts at any heat in the ultrasonic cleaner and any amount of time. Let me know what you guys use down below.

You are right. More degreaser is not the way. IF you read these comment = read the product information. These are not for the cat from your neighbour. Ok maybe a very very very very little more detergent ... And use temperature. I know the heaters are always very very very weak and need a lot of time to rech nearly 140 grade fahrenheit (= under 60 grade celsius). There is a technical good reason ! Read the machine manual ! Yes these chinease product only have a users manual in the size of a quick start information. True and for these machine you have to find a good manual from a professional machine and read these. OR pay for a training in ultrasonic cleaning? A lot of ZAP HD degreaser is not the right way. Even if you tell million times it works well. RoNiminal is right.

Looked up the ingredients. It has potassium hydroxide. So it is an alkaline cleaner and will destroy your aluminium. It might be in a small enough quantity that it will take some time, but leave it long enough and it will.

@amidointhisright don't use simple green! After cleaning, spray them with carb cleaner and use compressor air.

I just bought a 15L ultrasonic cleaner. But haven’t used it just yet. Could you fill with water and put smaller parts in a zip lock bag with whatever dilution you want and it still work?

Zep stuff works better then simple green and purple power and all of that! Not just for ultra sonic cleaners I use their purple color degreaser to clean the floors at my shop and it works way better then anything else. Purple power imo is crap and destroys aluminum parts super fast if u don’t wash it.

Hey I just got an ultrasonic cleaner and I'm reading that you should use neutral detergents for aluminum at high frequency otherwise you'll get pitting on surface of the alumninum. Zep citrus has a ph level of 11-12. This never caused a problem for you?

The only time it caused the problem is when I left it in there way too long. It was like 2 hours but other than that you can just use Dawn dish soap just as well

I tried Zep today on some cast aluminum. a hub, kick starter, engine cases, new (chinese) carb... it created tons of blotching after just 15 minutes. I tried ph neutral Palmolive dish soap afterwards. Much better but still had some blotching. overall not so impressed with this ultrasonic cleaner. at least for aluminum.

@@madmarcI use ethylene glycol for just about everything metal in my ultrasonic doesn't pit and degrease's very well just buy the cheap premixed coolant at your local auto parts store.

How long do you leave a carburetor in it for and what mixture do you use to make sure you don’t discolour the aluminum?

I like to see you gun from very near. Ok even than the camera will be worse and youtube software resolution and video comprssion rate do the rest ... The aluminium skin will look a bit different after your cleaning. Yes the ZAP citus HD is not bad. But read the prosuct infromations. The carurater skin will look different. Ok my eyes see the carburator later never ...
