Priest gets my recommendation. There's so much goodness in it between the world building, the effects, and the action scenes, and it manages to be a campy monstrosity of a movie anyway. Not sure how violent / gory it is, though -- my personal threshold is high enough that I don't register these kinds of things unless they're particularly severe.

Troll 3: quest for the mighty sword is phenomenal. There are botched lines that made it into the final cut, hilarious action scenes, a guy who is cast both as his father and son and costuming that is just the chefs kiss of dumb.

I recommend "Tarzan and the Green Goddess," 1938. My Dad and me had such a good time cracking jokes at it, while Mom was out of the house! It's part of an old serial, all stuck together to sell as movies. Bizarre "comedic" moments that go all the way around to being funny again, strange acting, African animals in the jungles of Guatemala, an ineffectual Tarzan, with a strong woman constantly sweeping in to rescue him. A bad movie classic!

On bad movies, Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies is great. It is the B horror vs of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. However I feel Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies is better, it is also fun seeing a 150,000 dollar movie better then a 70 million dollar movie.

Hey Brandon and Dan, if Equilibrium is Brandon's choices but Dan wants to watch more Japanese movies I would recommend "Returner" as a great fun movie. It's similar to Equilibrium as a movie trying to be the next Matrix but also has bizarre yet fun Japanese sensibilities. The Villain of the movie and the ending has been a favorite of mine since College.

I could suggest several hilariously bad movies, most of which are 80s action movies (shout out to Roadhouse, the first bad movie I watched on purpose). But today I will focus on one recommendation: Love on a Leash. Love on a Leash is a romantic comedy about a woman who adopts a stray dog with a secret- every night, the dog transforms into a man. Without spoiling too much, here are some features of the movie: - Easy Access. It can be watched, in its entirety, on KZfaq. Or Prime Video, if you prefer. - No score. There is no music, no background sound, just recorded dialogue. When the movie starts playing, you may experience a brief moment of panic and wonder if your speakers are broken. They're not (probably). The movie begins in complete silence. - Speaking of the dialogue, it's awful. - Inexplicable direction. Shots where the focal character(s) are not fully in the frame or are in complete darkness, bizarre camera angles, and plenty of other things that would probably get you expelled from film school. - A lot of green. Specifically, pale lime green. - An unpredictable ending.

Equlibruim is one of my favorite movies despite its flaws. Used to teach it in one of my first-year composition courses.

My Favourite bad movie is Upside Down. It presents itself as this dramatic science fiction love story in this fictional world with unique world building rules, and it fails at every step, completely unintentionally.

One of my recent excellent bad movie experiences was Ad Astra. I'm not going to spoil (much, I hope), but the things that movie is blessed with and the formidable way it squanders all of it is nothing short of amazing.

Listening to this I kept thinking you all need to see "Six String Samurai". Great in so many ways and terrible in so many more. I dont know how to sell beyond the title so just a little: premise is USSR nuked the US in the 50s and Elvis became king of the remains, he has died and now hopeful musicians and traveling for tournament to become new king. Music is really genuinely great. Quotable lines: Lines of dialogue is the highest I ever seen. The lead actor's every other actoring rolls are Thug #3 or similar in Hong Kong action movies.

Equilibrium has been my favorite (bad) movie of all time for a long time, it eclipsed Tremor for me when I saw it.

I remember watching Gods of Egypt. It had very good actors, and it felt like a better Clash of the Titans remake than the actual remake. But I don’t really remember more than that.

In the Sword & Sorcery genre, I would recommend Hawk the Slayer. In addition to its hilarious badness, it has the feel of a homebrewed Dungeon & Dragons campaign run by an uninspired Dungeon Master. Another film that might be a bit too graphic in terms of violence and nudity for your company, but is still a funny-bad film, is The Sword and the Sorcerer, starring Lee Horsley. It obviously had a higher budget than Hawk the Slayer, but is still entertainingly inept.

For whatever reason, I actually had a great time with God’s of Egypt 😂 Gerald Butler was a surprisingly fun villain, and it was great to see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau outside of GoT.

I watched any of those 80s movies whenever they were on. We were not spoiled for choice and I took any fantasy movie they would give me. I can't believe we've gotten to the point where there are so many choices in fantasy that I don't watch many shows with a decent budget. Can't believe in a good way.

Priest (with Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Maggie Q, Christopher Plummer) is my favorite "bad movie". Lots of quality names in the actors, and the movie takes itself very seriously, but it is a hoot to watch. There is an anime-style intro to the movie where there is some gore, but other than that it has a standard amount of violence/blood for a PG-13 movie. My favorite thing about the movie is that the script, the actors, the dialogue is all serious and supposed to be grimdark, but they just don't quite pull it off, and it cracks me up to no end. Highly recommend.

Not a movie, but the TV show Danger 5 fits in the category, "We know it's terrible but also genuinely funny." Sometimes I wish I shared Brandon's taste for movies that are sincere but wrong in every way, it seems like an enjoyable way to look at the world.

The Velocipastor was intentionally bad and very, very successful. I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it.

Official request: Dan analyzing a bad movie at DS Con 2023. Watching him analyze a 2 hour movie (Crazy Rich Asians) for 4 hours was one of the highlights of DS Con 2022 for me. I can only imagine how much fun a bad movie would be.

The best part about Yo-yo Girl Cop is the fact that it’s an ongoing series in Japan based on a manga with movies and tv shows, which I guess inspired or created a mini genre about high school girls fighting crime in Japanese media for a while. Good stuff.

Five months late, but I liked The Munchies from 1987. It's about these small-gnome sized aliens that come to take over earth. I remember laughing so hard when I saw it as a kid.

The Salute of the Jugger with Rutger Hauer is my favorite bad movie. Its a mix of Rise of the Titans and Gladiator set in a Mad Max world, I highly recommend it.

I love the old school dungeons and dragons movie. That was actually my introduction to D&D as a concept, and I am absolutely okay with it.

A bad movie I like is Nuigulumar Z. It is incredibly strange. It's both a magical girl movie and a zombie movie, but it's not very gory. It also has a lovely wholesome theme about following your dreams coupled with the most questionable combat strategies I've seen in a movie. Also, sentient teddy bears. I recommend it if you're in the mood to have your brain melted a bit.

My recommendation is a movie called 100% Wolf. It's an animated kids movie about werewolves with one of the wildest premises I've ever seen that takes itself completely seriously despite every second being completely ridiculous.

Funny thing is I have many times traveled both a suitcase full of Elk meat. Once my flight left and our bag made the flight but due to maintenance issues our bag made it to the destination and we did not. So our family had to go to the airport and get the meat bag off the baggage claim.

I have a bad movie recommendation. But first I just want to say thank you to this podcast. I am a stay at home mom to a 3 year old girl and you guys are sometimes the best adult interaction I get in a day. 😂 no further comment needed on that. My movie recommendation that you could definitely show your company is called a Borrowed Christmas. It doesn’t have any fancy special effects or anything like that. It is just a movie full of terrible story, script, and acting. Basic storyline premise is a middle-aged single and very wealthy man decides he wants to live out his G-rated fetish/fantasy of the man of the house during Christmas. A real “Charles Dickens” kind of Christmas. Seeing he has no family he decides to rent all of the things needed for this christmas- including a wife and children. It truly is the WORST movie I have ever watched and I almost turned it off so many times but I just kept hoping there would be a redemptive point. There wasn’t. There is no bad movie payoff here- except getting to the end and sitting there realizing that was a truly terrible movie. PS- wait til you learn about the borrowed orphans.

I have not seen this since I was a child but Surf Ninjas had a special place in the bad movie realm for me.

There's a movie called The Drawer (at least I think) it's been a long time, but it was bad and bizarre but wonderful and weird. A man appears inside a morgue drawer and it let's him go back in time, and he keeps ending up there and doesn't know why. I only saw it once and have never found it again. If you do manage to find it, you must watch it.

Other bad movies, Robowars is great if you want to watch Predator and Robocop but only have time to watch one movie.

Okay, bad movie suggestion: Battleship with Taylor Kitsch. It is astonishingly bad but in a “can’t turn your eyes away from it” kinda way. The thing is, it’s terribly earnest and you can tell everyone thought they were making that year’s big blockbuster action movie. By the end they’re really trying to skate on WWII nostalgia. It’s so big and dumb and I love it so much. It’s rather long, but I still adore it. I think about the burrito scene from the beginning far too frequently. I find it genuinely hilarious. Also, this movie somehow has Liam Neeson and Rihanna in it. And yes, they DO play a game of Battleship.

Dan, you're thinking of The Machine Girl! Another fantastic pick, that I'm pretty sure is made by the same company, is Tokyo Gore Police. Samurai Cop is also a legendary bad movie!

As you are looking for bad movie recommendations I strongly recommend The Apple, Knowing and the 2018 Robin Hood. For the reasons you talked about specifically I very strongly recommend Romeo and Juliet: Sealed with a Kiss it is an incredibly sincere and well made movie that is entirely baffling and confusing.

If you haven't seen it I would recommend "Split Second" With Rutger Hauer. It's on Amazon Prime. Loved this movie growing up.

If you love a movie how can it possibly be bad? I absolutley love Equalibrium. I mean it is 1984, Farenheit 451, and Matrix combined, what more distopian vision could a person with for. I tried to think of a bad movie that I have enjoyed, but if I enjoyed a movie I find that I can't view it as bad. Maybe the Trinity series with Terance Hill? Best lighthearted westerns I have ever seen, but definitely a low brow spaggetti western.

Equilibrium reminds me a lot of the Giver, but intended as an action movie instead of having the movie adaptation of a book force in some out-of-place action.

I am going to recommend the 1989 sci-fi film Arena, rated PG-13. Its Wikipedia entry has a good synopsis, if you're interested. It has that so-bad-it's-good feel, and it's one of my favorites.

“Barberella, Queen of the Galaxy” is a quality bad movie with a young Jane Fonda. “The Blue Star” is just a delightfully weird experience. And I’ll throw in a plug for the MST3K Gizmoplex app! So many hours of terrible content and quality riffs!

I submit for your bad movie consideration: ---Hudson Hawk. It is a truly bizarre heist movie and one of Bruce Willis's worst-review movies ever. Like your Ninja 3 experience, it was my introduction to the idea of movie-so-amazingly-bad-it's enjoyable. It did help that I watched it in a hotel room in Paris across the street from Louvre and it was dubbed in German (which I do not understand) and subtitled in French (of which I only understand the basics). It was a wild and wonderful ride.
