I dont know if that will happen, there are too many good games that are only on the Switch. But I am running HoloOS on my desktop and let me tell you the experience is great and if that is what the SteamDeck is like (just slower and lower res) it will be a pretty nice handheld gaming experience. You have to remember this is Valves first attempt at a handheld and its better then some of the units costing 2x more. Their next version might have the ability to hurt Nintendo greatly, but again their 1st party games are the main reason people buy it.

Unless Nintendo doesn't go backwards compatibility I doubt the Switch 2 could compete in some way. If they're too similar and is not backwards compatible why bother? The only difference is the architecture and none of your Switch games would work there.

I really want to convert the official SteamOS 3 iso whenever it finally goes live. Only reason I'm not covering holoOS is because it's technically not official so it's kinda pointless to review it in any meaningful way.

My opinion is that the trackpads are fantastic for desktop/casual use. But no way in hell am I using them to play more intense games. Media consumption, stardew, spacechem, things like those translate super well to the controller
