I have, use everything in this video, except the stool. I don't carry douvetine though, too heavy. I use thin black plastic table cloths. I also don't bring shower curtains too bulky but have much thinner white fabic I can double up etc if needed. I have carbon fiber poles that screw together to hang them from.

Nice one…I use the silks as diffusers for lights or to bounce fill light. The flag I use for negative fill on the opposite side of the key, or in front of light sources I want to block. The scrims i use less, but still useful. Hope you like them!

Man I'm so glad I found your channel. You've got some awesome content and I can't believe you don't have a larger audience yet! Just a quick question but how many bags/cases do you fly with for a typical shoot? If this has been explained in a past video I just haven't gotten to it yet haha
@LucForsyth
@LucForsyth Жыл бұрын
Thanks, appreciate that! I think every shoot is a bit different, but it really depends on if I"m by myself or not. A large international shoot if I'm alone would probably top out at 7-8 bags/cases plus a folding cart that gets checked as well. That's about all I can fit onto the cart, so it's all I'm physically capable of moving without help. IF there's a team travelling with me, things change - I've been on a shoot with 72 pelican cases that all got put on a plane, so it can really scale up!
@MX1CAN

@@LucForsyth Thank you for the answer! Here I thought that traveling with 3-4 bags/cases was personally too much 🤣

I’m currently in Doha, Qatar filming for music festivals running alongside the World Cup. Upon arrival in Qatar I discovered what a carnet is although not early enough to stop my gear getting detained by customs! Super frustrating. I ended up getting my gear back and have been able to fulfil the job but only after getting help from a local P.R.O. Lesson learnt. Carry a body separately and make sure I have the correct paperwork. Btw love the videos dude. Keep em coming!

I carry 4 empty sandbags (each has two zippers on each pocket) and fill them with full bottles of liquid (two bottles per pocket). Works like your waterbags, but can also be used with sand or stones or whatever.

@@LucForsyth No problem! Super portable and great modifiers for all sorts of situations. What I love is that they pack small enough to fit in a backpack but get big enough to diffuse the sun for exterior interviews. Luc, I can't believe these water bags aren't more popular... Are they lighter than sandbags (onces filled I mean..) because really, I really dont see the point anymore in carrying sandbags around if these water filled ones can do the job... I was trying to find some here in Barcelona and can't find them.. no even on the Spanish Amazon.. crazy
@LucForsyth
@LucForsyth Жыл бұрын
I know! They're not quite as heavy, but they do have zippers to attach more than one together at a time. I think with 2 of them you have about 8kg of weight, so close to a normal sandbag, but you'd have to double check that
