SquishCraft is making the rounds in puzzle circles, because even though the graphics are the biggest meme, there is a deep and unique puzzle mechanic where you can squish blocks to make smaller blocks that retain the properties of the blocks they're made of. You can even use it to split blocks into thirds, infuse moving platforms, infuse and split lasers, infuse yourself, it's pretty wild.

Never before have I seen someone be both so smart and so stupid at once. The 4|4 part was genuinely mind-numbing due to how many you were one or two steps away. But then you go and do something I could never imagine.

just realized that the blocks with 2 arrows are 2 blocks with an arrow squished together, not a different type of block

no they are different cuz when the 2 arrow blocks are squished together they can move up or down but with the 2-arrow blocks there is no energy source for the block to constantly move one direction and if both are activated the block would not move at all. So the 2 arrow block is a block made to reverse its course when its given power.

After seeing the aliensrock video, I wanted to see if anyone else made some good videos on this game. This is a pretty good one. I just wanted to say though, I can’t believe the number of comments complaining about the silly graphics. I think they’re a great part of the experience.

I played this game for a little while, and my main problem was that I could often see the expected solution, but actually DOING it would be really fiddly - squeezing all the blocks around the spikes that would destroy them, having to undo a bunch because I moved that block one square too far a hundred turns ago, etc., and I really didn't feel like it

There is a very good reason for the graphics. The mechanics are confusing for most people when there’s no graphical complexity. Imagine if the laser had some complex graphics and the glass had shiny reflective surfaces. That would make it harder to understand. Think of the graphics as simple not bad.

Simple graphics are one thing but the graphics on this game are stupid jokes on purpose. The dumb graphics do work with the vision but it’s not the same thing as simple graphics. Baba is you had simple graphics and they aren’t “photo of dudes face” and “Ms paint catgirl”

it's really good, I still recommend it. Watching someone else play it and playing it yourself, there isn't much difference, you have to look either way, but at least with one you get to play it yourself.

I've played SSR in the past, although it might be interesting to replay some of the areas I'm fuzzy about, I still remember all the best parts about that game. some games in that 'genre' I've not done though and they might be cool to do videos on, I never finished Pipe Push Paradise DLC, and An Architect's Expedition is an upcoming game I think. I have some recordings I haven't uploaded of A Monster's Expedition and Bonfire Peaks though.

Squishing isn't that cursed of a mechanic on its own, but the fact you can freely slice the resulting blocks even if that splits a component in fractions is really cursed, especially from implementation point of view.

@@TT-gm5yv add a background, make a design for the player that isn't a face png, make a more generic box, have a pseudo-3D/bevelled look to objects, and try something where object outlines are subtly more defined/consistent (this matters when trying to split something and then breaking the split, which can make things split along non-grid offsets, OR when something is squished so much that the block outline appears to look inconsistent) imo

a good puzzle game is a good puzzle game, regardless of its graphics. i'd rather have a great and intricate game with meme graphics, than mid-to-decent looking graphic with boring gameplay. just look at all the asset flip shovelware puzzle games on steam.

I swear, I already knew how to do these types of titles, but never did them because I legitimately thought (usually) that the game name is better information, but with these graphics, I have to justify them, lmao. just wait until I make the titles completely not mention the game name at all, now that'd be Big KZfaqr :TM: style
