Hyrule Warriors' Link is pretty great imo. It really mixes together the many Adult Links quite well while still adding it's own spin. I hope we see it or renditions of it in another Zelda game (spinoff or otherwise) one day!

in my head, I always broke the link designs into 4 categories: classic link, The green tunic with brown sleeves used in every game till ocarina, returning in sequals like a link between worlds young link, the designused in ocarina and majora's mask toon link, no introduction needed and adult (normal) link, The design used in most Main console games since ocarina of time to breath of the wild This is just how I broke it down though

even if the colored hair in triforce heroes is a bit off, i felt they needed to do something to remove the idea that player 1 was the most important link simply because his tunic was green, but i suppose a better way to do that would be to make none of the 3 colors green.

Never played Hyrule Warriors but a Link that looks like a perfect blend of Ocarina of Time Link, Skyward Sword Link, and the yet to come Breath of the Wild Link looks pretty great. Maybe it could be a little cleaner though? Like, lose the cool scarf and the shoulder guards and you basically have a close to definitive link design.

In Link's Awakening if Link gets his picture taken, he looks like a 5 year old.

Favorites are without a doubt Toon Link, BotW, MM, and the Feirce Deity Mask. BotW is probably the best of both worlds.

I'd Really like to see a video on the diifferent designs samus has had throughout the metroid series. It would be interesting since both her Suit and her unsuited forms have had redesigns in almost every game and the games have had a few remakes that change designs too. There would be a lot of stuff to cover and could easily make for multiple videos such as how Link and Sonic did.

my favorite design is hyrule warriors link cause of his overall outfit. i love how they added the blue scarf to this character. it adds more depth to the outfit. its like a mix of previous links and botw link.

I never noticed this before, but for the Hyrule Warriors design, I love the inclusion of the yellow band on the hat have accompaniment with the tunic by having yellow on the bottom of the tunic and on the end of the sleeves. That just feels right

Personally my favorite design has to be one of Hyrule Warriors’ Link’s alternate costumes. I believe it was the Great Sea costume, featuring blue as the main color and a white scarf.

I went to a retro game store and they had the CD-i games on display and I nearly screamed a mixture of amazement, humor, and pure terror

I loved spirit tracks. It was one of the first 5 zelda games i've played and i get some much nostalgia from it.

The definitive Link for me is, and always has been, the Ocarina of Time link, both child and adult. It's the game that introduced me to the series, and it was further solidified by one of my favourite fighting games, Super Smash Bros. Melee. Great outlook on Link's designs. You really did a great job of explaining your thoughts and editing well :)

Both of the oracle games are quite cheap and solid zelda games so i definitely recommend them.

Dang, I'm a bit late to this party. I always knew you were an ok fella Mark, but knowing you love the Wind Waker as I do really moves you to the top. Another great video, your channel really deserves the views you've been getting and I'm excited to see you grow. PS, I like the CD-i, but those Zelda games were something else. Oddly, the same dev/animation team would later go on to create Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam. The CD-i's killer app.

In the previous video I say that my favorite Link designs are: Fierce Deity, Young Link, (from Majora's Mask) OoA/OoS, ALBW, HW and SS Now my least favorites are: The first Link, TP, and Toon Link (the Cd-i and the cartoon doesn't count for obvious reasons xD) Good video : )

I really like Toon Link a lot, I think he's my favorite design overall. Couldn't avoid cgi link forever, haha! I really loved these two videos though. Its really fun to see character designs throughout the years. I'd honestly love to see you possibly tackle Samus's designs in a similar fashion, since her Varia Suit has had many renditions now. Looking forward to your next video!

i love how each time you show footage of a save file, the name of the hero is a synonym for link (both in part 1 and 2)

I definitely enjoy your design series and proudly subscribing!!!! Personally I love a link to the past design as it adds from is original nes days but can stand on his own! Also toon link does have his own charm I can't deny!

I'm conflicted. I'd say overall I think TP or HW Link win. Thet manage to look unique while managing to stand as a collective image of Link.

FD and HW are probably my favorites! And while I never played Triforce Heroes, I do think the hair colors look fun in concept. The face imo is what distinguishes Toon Link, and the design’s simple enough that you can play around with its ‘picture frame’ without breaking it.

Fierce Deity Link isn't my favorite design, however, it is literally the BEST Link.

Awakening is getting a remake baby

Not entirely sure why but the Link Between Worlds design is by far my favorite. It manages to look very retro but yet so polished and new. I feel like it's the most advanced version of his original design. Maybe I'm just very nostalgic and love it for that reason.

There's one designed you missed I think beats any other, the design from the Skyward Sword prequel manga featured in Hyrule Historia. It's glorious.

Personally I like triforce heroes link, it looked nice! I never liked just having tunic. And with the costumes. Some don't change colors so different hair would make sense! I love it.

A Shantae episode would be neat seeing as every game has a different art style

Can't say this is the type of stuff I'd usually watch but the quality is fantastic

My personal favorites is Zelda GBC's design, it's just such a cute huggable anime-like design without being too cartoony. It's like what Link Between Worlds wishes they had. The harsh edges for the shadow shading looks super nice, I really like the eyes, eyebrows are the perfect size, super fluffy hair, pleasing color choices, the brown outline makes him look more colorful, it's all very nice. ...Just the fingers look bad in that artwork. And now you can't unsee it. *shudder* Zelda 2's 80s anime look (though the Zelda 1 one that's in the same kind of pose looks fine too, just a little too serious) is a close second, yeah, even over the Link to the Past design. It kinda reminds me of the 1990 Robin Hood anime, it's kinda cheating because it came out at the start of the 90s but the design really reminds me of that look, just make the eyes smaller and have a bigger nose. The Link to the Past design just looks like a worse version of that, they even got rid of the rounded nose... how dare they? jk As for Toon Link, he's probably third? But not the Wind Waker one, at least not from the promotional artwork (he kinda looks creepy there). WW artwork just looks really dull and liveless, in all honesty. (Wind Waker HD's promotional design looks way better) I prefer the DS artstyle for Toon Link when it came promotional material. Though swap those two around when we're talking about how he looks in-game, DS Toon Link kinda looks bad. He has those gigantic eyeballs and carries a gigantic head on a one-and-a-half tall body... gross. Wind Waker's proportions in-game make him look nice and he looks great because of his expressions, which the original artwork didn't convey at all. TLDR: Toon Link's third; DS for promotional artwork but GCN for in-game appearance.

Very nice video. Let’s hope we get some original 2D games on switch since that’s where they usually tend to experiment with fresh designs.

I'm glad you took a look at these designs as well. For me, it's hard to choose which Link has the best design, because they are all pretty great and fit their game's style very well. Maybe I have a slight preference to the more clean, vibrant and cartoony designs (like the Oracle, GBA Link to the Past and Toon designs), but it's honestly all great. Although, I was kind of surprised you didn't compare the Link Between Worlds design with the Oracle design. Even though Link Between Worlds is a sequel to Link to the Past, I always thought that Link's design in the final game resembled the Oracle design more than the Link to the Past design.

my fav is wind waker link as well but tbh its probably because its the zelda game i played the most and the one which made me discover zelda games, great vid btw :)

My favourite design has to be the hero of time design not only because of nostalgia, but it also represents the classic 3D Nintendo designs.

My favorite Link design in THIS video HAS to be the *Hyrule Warriors* version as the Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, and Ocarina of Time versions of Link were combined into THIS design with the added scarf and BLUE gloves instead of brown. Even I think Smash Bros Ultimate could've made THIS an alternate outfit along side the well-praised Breath Of The Wild blue tunic look.

Hyrule Warriors has my favorite rendition of basically every Legend of Zelda character. They’re brilliantly crafted with having the perfect amount of realism, recognizability, and badassary. Sheik, Zelda, Impa, Ganondorf And Link are just some of my personal favorites. As for another video I’d love to see Zelda herself or even Bowser! Surprisingly Bowser has had more renditions and redesigns than Mario seemingly has

Personally I really liked the updated Link design for A Link Between Worlds, even when it came out! It really captured the style of the oracle games but with the current art style with that chalky sort of texture they've been using lately. And the goofier face really sold the fact that he was more of a child or a preteen than the more teenager looking original artwork. Something about Link being a smaller kid always resonated with me more than the adult designs, I guess it just makes the whole game feel more like a coming of age story for the character, which adds a nice second layer to what's already in the game (Wind Waker actually used that idea really well which is why it's probably one of my favorite Zeldas).

My favorite one is the hyrule warriors design because it is quite realistic while not being to dark or dull it's also light and colourful without being to cartoony like and is quite detailed without being over crowded and the hints of blue in parts are good to break up the majority of the green

Hyrule Warriors Link, to me, feels like the logical continuation of the gradual increase in sophistication across the generations. It is pretty realistic, and still shows elements of each other iteration in a Dynasty Warriors-style depiction of the Hylian hero. He even got into Smash for Wii U!

That Link Between Worlds design is my personal favourite. He feels like Link from the original Zelda while looking a bit more expressive and cartoony.

In my opinion, the coolest iteration of Link will always be Fierce Diety. He’s so mysterious and is the first “Link” to be seen as not a good guy, more of an antihero. This makes him so much more interesting and compelling and JESUS CHRIST I JUST WANT A LEGEND OF THE FIERCE DIETY GAME

The Wild Tunic! D: Ah well, this was a very satisfying video. I never liked the scarf on Hyrule Warriors link. It seems like a lot of characters those days took it on like a cliche sort of thing... It just looks odd and feels lazy. Also ty for reminding us how flipping awesome of a game Link Between Worlds was.

The oracles link is my personal favorite, though link to the past and windwaker are both very close behind for how great and iconic they are.

Every single design in Hyrule Warriors is refreshing and impressive. I love them all. I'd say it takes the cake for me. If you need an idea for a new series, maybe you could look at games like Hyrule Warriors and see what they changed or added to the designs and how it correlates with the original designs! That'd be sweet.

I can’t explain why but adult link from ocarina of time 3D is my favorite looking link. I haven’t played the game but everything about it is just great to me , he doesn’t look to angry or too cute or too anime like Hyrule warriors link and to me it is the definitive 3D link model.

Great video series my dude, really engaging stuff. While Majora's Mask has the best art style for me the best Link design is a hard tie between Toon and early LTTP. On that however, what do you think of the updated artwork for the Link to the Past? It's sort of an in-between of the Oracles style with the cleaner colors and bigger eyes but with the outfit and poses of the LTTP art and art style.

I can't believe you didn't even mention Fierce Deity Link's BLACK leggings.
