The CGI used in recreating Rachel in 2049 was incredible. When she first walked onscreen, I was shocked and confused for a minute, stupidly wondering how the hell Sean Young looked like she hadn’t aged a day 😆

I watched a behind-the-scenes clip about that, and one reason why it worked so well, whereas the CGI Tarkin in Rogue One was bit wonky, was because they were able to motion-capture Sean Young's face for the scene. Brevity and lighting undoubtedly helped, but overall it was masterfully done, and did not look like CGI.

I hate how Ryan Gosling garners more credit for his looks rather than his work. The man is a film genius. Despite his immense fame, Blade Runner: 2049 is Gosling's first $100 million budget film. And films with those types of budgets aren't generally associated with being masterpieces, but boy, what a masterpiece Blade Runner: 2049 was.

Thanks for the great list Chris. I will definitely check out some of the recommendations you mentioned that I haven't seen. Also, Blade Runner 2049 was easily my favorite film of the year as well. In fact it's probably in my top 5 of all time even above the original Blade Runner which I've loved since I first seen. It is a shame general audiences did not seem to want to give it a chance for whatever reason. I'm just really glad the film even exists as it does and it wasn't some sloppy remake/reboot. If I could I would personally thank everyone behind the creation of BR2049 for making it, whatever that might be worth coming from an average Joe.

@thefirstbourne1496 жыл бұрын
+Reeloy Kenjins Or, they just aren't into "artsy" movies. This movie definitely was, but come on....that's one of the reasons why it does live up to the original! Tron: Legacy, I didn't hate, but where it falters was the pace. Yes, the pace...2049 doesn't technically suffer with pacing because it is slow throughout and it goes through necessary story beats. Legascy felt the need to throw in, not really consistent, if well-choreographed, and well-edited, fight scenes and action scenes.

@pranav38485 жыл бұрын
Most of the academy are stuck up 60+ year olds whose hearts still reside in the 1950's. They will never be able to appreciate movies that the younger generation does yet they vote on what movie THEY think deserve the award, not the general public.

Fuggler a la mode I mean if the general public had their way, a marvel movie would win best picture every year

Versus a biopic winning best actor every year? How's that any different

Fuggler a la mode You can tell me the oscars are fucked and irrelevant and you would be right. But saying it’s because they don’t take into account the general public’s view is asinine. The general public has no fucking clue how to define a good film, just look at the box office performance of any transformers movie.

Kes Eylers Stephenson Same! I was like, "Holy hell, that . . . That was amazing and horrible and uncomfortable." And yet, afterwards I realized, I didn't watch a movie at all. I had an experience and for better or worse, I was apart of it. Aside from Dunkirk, I felt like I went through something really stressful and the reality of the situation was harsh and unyielding. It certainly isn't a film I can watch all the time but, it is a film that needs to be seen. It gave me hints of Shindler's list as far as bleakness goes. And the isolation! God I felt cold and alone and I forgot everything but what was happening on screen.
