Even in this day and age, anyone can go into a dark alley and kill the first person they see, and then just walk away without being found. That is why serial maniacs are so hard to catch, because there is no clear connection between the killer and the victim. In addition, in our time there is no death penalty for a crime, but being killed or maimed as a result of the victim's self-defense is a very real prospect that often stops violence. There is also blood feud. And few people will be interested in the government's opinion on the legality of someone's actions in this situation. ----- The funny thing is that if some idiot politician thought of doing one day of lawlessness. This would not have affected ordinary residents, who would simply sit out all the events at home. Instead, there would be a global armed conflict between politicians and gangs for the redistribution of power and spheres of influence.

That's actually true. The survival rates of shark attacks are somewhere around 75-80 percent. After having a taste they just give up and go looking for something decent.

People still die and sometimes they go on a rampage like the Jersey massacre which inspired Jaws.

So to answer your question, the reason Jaws movies aren't still being made is because the creator of Jaws realized that his movies encouraged excessive fear and unnecessary culling of sharks. He has stated if he could, he would have never created Jaws. Also, Shrieker Island is the official conclusion to Tremors.

I felt like I heard that back when they were making Tremors 3, I saw one of the newer ones but it wasn't that great, wasn't scary felt like it was just being made for the comedy, which if it was that's fine, just wasn't my thing. Yeah I guess that makes sense too... and yet people are still making other shark horror movies that don't even come close to Jaws, some I've seen are ok, Meg was meh, can't remember some others off top of my head, one with goblin sharks. I still can't believe Spielberg said that, it was his master piece, the golden child, as well as Jurassic Park and the sequels have... as well as JP and World have done, he won awards for Jaws, it was a smash hit, master piece, revered as art among movies. I know it caused a lot of people to fear sharks, not top 3 but fear of ocean and/or sharks pretty high up there. However if people are still going to make those kinds of movies, the last 2 weren't that scary played up for goofs, then why not make more. Go crazy, Cyber Jaws, Jaws 10 Jaws in Space, tag line watch out for the space jaws (don't know why but Space Balls song was in my head, WATCH OUT we're the space jaaaaaws), I'd watch that over any Sharknado.

@@animentamaxarius3931 A Dolphin or an Orca would ironically give way to more reasonable fear of certain ocean animals, considering how those things actually tend to behave... meanwhile, sharks just bite because they don't have hands!
