Kids.... if your fresh water fish looks sick, DO NOT give him salt. That WILL kill him. Good Lord.... It's like the episode of Seinfeld where they put the cookie in the guys mouth....

Not entirely true. A salt bath can actually help revive a goldfish even though it is a freshwater fish. You are right that bathing a healthy goldfish in salt will kill it but when your fish is already on the brink of death, salt water has been known to help them get back to health. here's some information on this: goldfish2care4.com/goldfish-diseases/salt-baths.html
