Having had a Core P3 for 3 years now, and living in a desert with two pet cats, I can confirm that dust/hair really is not as big a problem as you might think it is. This is because you have no case fans drawing dust-laden air across your components, but instead you only have the same component fans (CPU/GPU cooler) that you would have regardless of case style. Effectively, the only dust gets deposited by air directly above the case due to gravity, which means it accumulates dust at the same rate as a coffee table.

Vinícius Amaral The glass is easy to clean, just four screws to remove it. I’m running the CPU and GPU on water, so it’s really quiet and unlike a normal case, you don’t have fans pulling are in all the time, so dust isn’t really a problem.

Just a thought : I've been putting my wife's ripped stockings on filterless case fans for years The principle should be scalable with XXXL stockings on a full open system. Buy a large black stocking (the thin and stretchable kind), stretch it, and put it around the whole thing. If the stocking gets in the way of the CPU fan blades, add a simple fan grid. Need some way to manage the cables coming out, but should be manageable. You end up with an "open" system with no dust inside

I exclusively use open cases for all my builds, especially for gaming and heavy rendering, because the cooling is so much better. In my opinion they are much better against dust buildup, since it's way easier to clean them. Closed cases get clogged with dust since it's hidden in the closed case and people therefor never bother to do anything about it. Open cases are also way smaller and easier to transport, while having much greater cooling and and ease of access.

FYI, for years I ran an Antek Skeleton chassis, and with it's downdrafting 300mm fan on top it had outstanding cooling, fabulous noise levels, and surprisingly very little dust issues. Part of the issue with dust on a more normal case is that there are inevitably deadzones in the airflow that cause dust to settle, in addition on a filtered air case well that dust has someplace to be blocked and then later get noticed. On an open air chassis, there's just no enclosed space for deadzones. I ended up taking a can of air to my Antek about twice in 4 years. By far one of the best anti-dust PC's I've ever owned. All that said, I love this chassis, and if it were cheaper and available, I'd pick one up... and finally just be rid of water cooling. But as minimal as it is in it's design, my bet is that I could make something out of hardwood that's just as effective and pretty... which I may just do.

I absolutely love the design of this case. It looks absolutely wonderful, but I am a fan of the T1 at the moment. The things that are great are the apparent quality of build, the logo and the ability to see all that great gear, which I like to see. Seems like the I/O could have been added to the spine... that would have been cool. Also, I have this Razer Viper Ultimate with dock and it's a much better mouse than the Logitech Gaming Pro, for me anyway, as I have small to medium sized hands and the Pro is much too arched for my hands and very uncomfortable. I absolutely love the Razer. It feels wonderful in my hand and the shape is very "alien" and I love the panels. It is incredibly accurate and smooth as well.. the only drawback at the moment, is I can't get a T1 case ordered so I can't begin my microsoft ITX build so I am using it on my MacBook Pro... and there is no control software availalble for Apple, nor is Razer planning on writing any so the colors of the dock (using a third party download controller called Razer MacOS) are cycling through the spectrum and can not be adjusted on an Apple computer.

Vertical open cases don't collect much dust. There is no forced air. It will only collect on horizontal surfaces. Having an enclosed system with high airflow is no different to having an air filter. You only need filters when you have more airflow. less airflow = less dust. No fans = no dust. I ran a P5 for two years and never cleaned it out once.
@FrodeBergetonNilsen
@FrodeBergetonNilsen 3 жыл бұрын
Just use a D15, and the fans hardly need to spin, if used correctly. Also, heat sort of rises, making downfall of dust, not much of a thing. Also, low airflow, as in really, really, low airflow, do not suck dust into the build. I ran my 1920 rad system, unstacked, open case, the fans were utterly clean, 18 months in. Nothing even to clean of them. There is only need for a blow job on the MB, using compressed air, every no and then.

I like having the I/O at the top. I have always set most, if not all, of my ITX cases in a vertical position with the I/O at the top. Sure, it look messy but it allows easier access to the ports. Several years back I have thought of making a new PC build using one of those open benchmarking case in review videos. Instead I stumbled upon an ITX case and that became my obsession to this day.

Make sure you take your psu off eco mode, that way it stays cool and the fan doesn;t ramp up. Get better fans to quiet it down. If you get an aio like corsairs chances are you'll have the noisiest fans in the world. Its definitely a neat idea. I think for an E-machine/living room PC, its got definite potential, or maybe as a sort of variant to the "open air test bench" design. Still, pretty good for showing everything off. If you dust your house regularly, dust shouldn't be an issue and given that the frame is aluminum, I imagine its pretty light so taking it outside and putting a can of compressed air through it now and again wouldn't be quite the pain in the ass a full ATX or Mid-tower might be.

I really like the open design. It also keeps the footprint of the pc to a minimum as you don’t have or may not need loads of fans or cooling which is a bonus if space is a premium. I have a gaming pc with a cougar case and it’s huge with loads of empty space on the inside. If I could shrink this all down and have it on a open chassis/case like this is would. I think it looks great. Maybe a few RGB lights to spice it up though 😉

That's an awesome compact look. I'd finish off those cracks and paint to match. No water cooling allows compact form factor. I like your reviews on Dan-Case. As for water cooling, have you ever done Danger-Den acrylic? Was way cool 12+ yrs ago. EDIT: I'm using this same PSU I wish it came in white but I guess we can paint. I'd consider an acrylic case box cover for dust when not using for display or a vented cube cover.
