For most people it makes no measurable difference; all this only matters to the most elite level of body builders. Eat whatever protein you want from a variety of sources in enough quantity and you will get stronger - plant, animal, it does not matter. I do mostly Tofu, nuts, lentils, greek yogurt, whole grains eggs, green peas and other veggies along with a whey or vegan shake a few times a week, and do fine: bigger and stronger.

Just what I wanted to hear.. I got back on my exercise journey a month ago and have been having a shake with 2% Milk in addition to chicken and turkey. I bought a smart scale to log all my macros and have been able to consistently hit 220g or more a day at about 2000 calories.. I hit the gym twice a day, cardio in the morning (average 225 calories burned) and weight training after work. With a TDEE estimate of 3100 calories, I'm killing at least 1300 calories off a day. Probably more because I can't tell how many calories I burn in weight training. The pounds are shedding off and the lean muscle mass is growing! 3 shakes a day!

Good informative video. What could be beneficial and educational subject to cover, is amino acids topic related to timing in the case of eating meals. And for diving deeper into it, it would be good, if you would find time to give some information about the guestion related to the timing, when certain amino acids in different protein sources gets available for the body during digestive process. What I mean by it, is that does it and if then how much matter when and what to eat for maximising the benefits from protein (in amino acids)? The thought process about this game to me during thinking about the fact that some protein sources are digested faster than others. Then it obviously affects the right timing complimenting these proteins with free form amino acids. And is it possible, that when consuming specific protein source, then some amino acids from it absorbs faster than others on some extend? And therefore some amount of this protein will not be used most functionally - preserving and building muscles. Would be great, if you could find the way to cover this issue a little bit. Stay strong and healthy Raimo Estonia

Thomas DeLauer's discussion on the best protein sources for muscle building yields several key takeaways: 1. **Protein Quality Matters**: While total protein intake is essential, the type of protein consumed significantly impacts muscle growth. Animal proteins, especially whey, are generally more effective than plant-based proteins due to higher essential amino acid content and better digestibility. 2. **Essential Amino Acids and Bioavailability**: Proteins rich in essential amino acids, particularly leucine, are crucial for activating muscle protein synthesis. The bioavailability of these amino acids, which refers to how well they can be absorbed and utilized by the body, is also key. 3. **Animal vs. Plant Proteins**: Animal proteins tend to have higher bioavailability, around 92%, compared to about 80% for plant proteins. Processing methods can affect the absorption rates of plant proteins, improving their efficacy. 4. **Thermic Effect of Protein**: Proteins like whey that have a higher thermic effect can increase metabolic rate during digestion, aiding in both muscle building and fat loss. This is due to higher rates of protein oxidation. 5. **Practical Application**: Incorporating high-quality proteins like whey not only around workouts but also with regular meals can enhance muscle protein synthesis and overall muscle growth. This approach helps maximize the muscle-building potential of the meals.

Not trying to stir up a debate. But aren’t we conflating digestibility and bioavailability here? Something could be digested well and quickly but not be used as much by the body due to amino acid ratios for example. This is why people believe whey is one of the best protein sources since it’s ranked high on digestibility. However, based on Net Nitrogen Utilization, we find that whey is only about 16-18% bioavailable

Processed food is generally not good for health and that includes protein powders as well. Instead opt for natural whole foods like beef, lamb, liver, fish, shrimp, chicken, turkey, eggs, whole milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, paneer, feta cheese etc. as your main sources of protein. However, you could also combine these animal-based protein sources with plant-based protein sources like lentils and beans with carbs like white rice or potatoes, a handful of veggies with a teaspoon of olive oil for a complete protein-rich and nutrient-dense delicious healthy meals. Just add any fruit to the mix and you get the greatest recipe for building muscle, losing fat, overall good health and longevity.

Whole eggs the yokes contain all the fat and vitamins. And eggs don’t clog arteries like everyone thought for so many years. Eggs are king above all else in my opinion next to fish and chicken then beef. Also quality is key can’t just go to Walmart for most of this. Pasture raised organic free range . But even then you’re still getting trash because the feed is corn just organic 🤣 which breaks down as ethinol. Buy packaged meats they come injected with salt and dyed if it’s red meat and that’s assuming it even one piece and not glued together yes I said glued and that’s being lucky it’s not bill gates liberal bio engineered fake meat that’s made from bugs no joke. Check your state see if they outlawed bioengineered meats. If you live in a liberal state probably not. Milk also is being poisoned lately because farmers are using human waste to fertilize because it’s cheap and cows year the grass. Also bird flu in it various different brands and that’s just the ones volunteering 🤣. Trust factor today is an issue so be aware.

From 70-90% bioavailability is a decent difference, but what kind of protein actually gets put into the muscles instead of the organs and cells and other tissue, whey and meat is around 20-30%, eggs is 50%+ which is a much bigger difference than the % of bioavailability, so everyone add egg protein to your diet 👍

@@rachelmcgill8143 I went on the vegan hype back in 2018 while also resistance training, and it worsened my recovery time leading me to over training and losing strength, and I think the diet change also resulted in increased inflammation from longer recovery time made so much so that my adrenal glands became overworked because I started to have less tolerance to stress, my stress levels went over the roof because I was not getting my animal fat and proteins, huge mistake. After 8 months on a vegan diet, my gut also became irritated and I started having dreams about burgers, so I had enough. After that period, every meat meal puts a smile on my face, it's almost as if meat has become an anti depressant :)

I understand how the changes might seem confusing, but I see change as more of an evolving sense of awareness and discovery of what works and what doesn't or what did but now doesn't. The more I learn, the less I seem to know. Change, in my mind, represents growth. Our bodies continue to change throughout life, so it would stand to reason that our approach to a healthy lifestyle would change too. ❤
