Before watching this vid I had A and D on both Air roll right/left and normal air turning right/left and never could turn in the air and thought it was normal, until I wanted to learn how to wall pinch, that was when I knew smth was fishy so I decided to look up a vid and here I am now to a new side of Rocket League I never knew even existed, Thanks alot!

my swivel speed and transition speed are much higher, because I like being able to eliminate that extra time to look around as much as possible. My settings work for me since I have a high refresh rate monitor, I imagine they would be quite jarring at lower refresh rates.

In my experience having air roll and powerslide bind to the same key messed up my kickoffs because I was trying to be really fast all the time.

I don't see a few visual settings but I'm sure they won't make that big a difference. Thanks for the lil adjustments. I've never gotten a clear answer though, why is air rolling during aerials important? What does it help with? My guess is keeping as much even surface contact with the ball but it makes turning in the air much harder

Hey Sly - I know that I always bug you with video ideas, but I just wanted to share an "AHA" moment I had- I was watching Lethamyr play, and saw a touch he made where he tilted his car back and boomed the ball way high. I then went into freeplay and did the same thing. For the first time, I could boom the ball off of seemingly short bounces. This seems obvious, but many diamonds (like me) have no idea how to get touches on the ball to accomplish what we want. I then realized that setting up our shots is just as important as shooting and can only be done in freeplay. If you made a video where you went through a slide show (say 1 through 25) of different ways of hitting the ball to different spots, that'd be a ridiculously helpful video for everyone. For example, you can create a drill for sideways hits, or consistently passing off of the backboard - OR just show different ways of touching/hitting the ball based on how the ball is approaching the car - example - 5 ways to hitting an approaching bouncing ball in different directions, 5 ways to hit a rolling ball based on what you want, 5 ways to hit the ball up the wall and shoot/pass it, 5 ways to move down the field with weird mechanics (wavedash, whatever), etc. Heck, you can make different videos for each of these on creating shots in based on situations. Let me know if this is annoying! haha

I had my shift unbound for air roll since I started playing, I've been only using E and Q this whole time being primarily air roll right main. I don't know if shift has any advantages, but doing speedflip with both sides is much easier with shift, without it I only use Q speedflip because it's more comfortable and quicker for me to press S with my index finger doing Q speedflip. When I try to bind it again, my muscle memory messes up completely and I don't know if it's worth it. Any advices?

i have that same problem, i have shift unbound too and it Is much easier to speedflip with shift binded. In the end, i only have shift unbounded so i can press my directional air roll keys while holding powerslide for smooth landings on the ceilings or wherever but if you can manage speedflip without air roll bind then it should be better leaving it unbound for recoveries and whatnot

@@Lsy5 after 1 month I've got used to do both speedflips. Yes, that's the thing, recoveries are much more smoother and reliable, now I don't see any shift advantages. There's many controller players that use only directional air-rolls as much as KBM players (I know a few OCE pros that use only E, Q and that's completely fine for them after so many hours played). I got 4k hours using M/KB in rocket league. I use right mousebutton for driving forward. This makes me able to use w for pitch down as standard but also powerslide with w. I use mouse for aerial steering left and right, which means I have A/D free for air rolling and E/Q for looking left/right(This setup also means tornado spins feels intuitive). I'm using right mouse button for driving foward.This gives my keyboard hand a lot less actions to apply. (if you do try utilizing mouse x axis for aerial left/right, also calibrate the sensitivity and deadzone settings on the control page.)

YES! EXACTLY. There is no need to aim, no cursor to point and click. So its obsolete. for me ist: Jump - Spacebar Boost - L Powerslide - Shift K and ; are Airrolls left and right M is manual airroll Q and E are Camera swivel left and right ctrl is rear view

I am using keyboard for liek 2k hours, no mouse. I want to explain controls since I need help LSHIFT - jump LALT - Boost E and Q are airrolls, E is powerslide too but the weird thing is I use my right hand on the arrows and I air steer with the arrows, so I drive with WASD but I AIR STEER on the arrows, am I in a weird disadvantage, idk why other kbm players seem so much cleaner and I am like not bad mechanicely since I practiced a lot but I still feel weird. Should I just switch to default?

That seems super impractical to me personally. I did switch some keyboard controls at around 1-1.5k hours and it wasn't too bad to switch. I think it's a better long-plan idea :)

HELP! When I set my air roll to left shift nothing happens when I’m in the air. Regular air roll doesn’t work when I bind it to any key. Does anyone know why??

Understanding what it does will help you. I believe Q, and E are the default for Air Rolls. @slyk however, binds shift to allow him to hold shift, then use both A and D to air roll. Normally A and D will rotate your car during an aerial. Holding shift will not allow them to also be used to Roll.

So is there something for KBM players to adjust the speed of youre air roll etc? my brother who also plays on KBM can air roll a lot faster than I can but when I try to chance the setting nothing is changing at all. for example we both just jump and use air roll left, his air rol is faster. Would love it if you know the solution.

It might be slightly harder yes, but not a HUGE difference. I got to GC on PC with only 60Hz monitor if that's one of the things you were considering.

Maybe I might help my friends if they switch over to kbm, by screensharing my RL screen with the board so they'll know what I'm saying and doing; through discord of course!

You are wrong. Aerial sensitivity and steering sensitivity does infact affect kbm, i tried changing them and turns out it turns faster on a higher sens then the lowest 1.0 on kbm. Same for steering. It feels way faster with higher sens and i can recover quickly, tho im not as accurate in shooting/aerials. i can do mechanics better on high sens but more accurate on low. btw airrolls is not faster with a higher sens. If you have a lower dodge deadzone you can jump faster and it feels overall much more responsive but when having a higher dodge deadzone it feels slower but you have more time to jump becuase its slower. Controller deadzone and mouse sensitivity doesnt make a diffrence on kbm.

why do you need air roll and air roll left/right???

You don't NEED them, but they allow you to do certain spins (e.g. tornado spin) which are impossible without one of them.

@@slyk see what ive noticed like watching some tutorials the kbm layouts never show left shift being pressed? at least in evample or yukeos ive never seen the left shift highlighted.. so i can never tell when their air rolling, but I can see the side mouse buttons lighting up for air roll left or right, and then they seem to be tapping a and d whilst holding the air roll and a bit of s action.. im just having a hard time air rolling while air dribbling, i cant stay on the ball

I’m not sure what their exact controls are exactly, but some people prefer to only use left and right air roll. I think it’s all personal preference and practice!

2:24 Actually, steering sensitivity, arial sensitivity, and dodge deadzone all apply to kbm, but ONLY if your keyboard input acceleration time is increased. KBM players who use keyboard input acceleration should make sure to set their dodge deadzone to the lowest possible setting.

@@slyk I don't, I just get told I'm weird every time I try to explain that airroll is on my mouse, eg move mouse left to airroll left and vice versa. Its just funny to get peoples reactions in the end for me at this point..
