Nice review I just got approved this morning thru Samsung financing for my 2021 Q950A Samsung soundbar and can't wait for it to arrive late September (I live on the west coast so it takes longer and its currently sold out-that must be a good thing). Cheers.

I was not happy at first because the speakers sounded flat with no deep base or that floor shaking sound. I even had the subwoofer at 6. Even the bass enhancer didn’t make a difference. The only way I was able to get good bass was to lower all the speaker levels to -6 but kept the uppers at zero. Now I was able to raise the volume higher which made the bass louder which was still set at 6. The bass enhancer still didn’t do anything but it sounded much better but I feel something is wrong because you said you had deep bass without doing these changes that I had to do. I would appreciate your input on this. Thanks. Loved your video

Thanks Joe! Hmmm. That’s annoying… The things I’d try would be: 1. Move the sub around the room, especially next to your seat. 2. Re pair the sub 3. Make sure both bass and sub level are up (sub level is done through the remote and bass is in the soundbar settings) 4. See if you can test another unit at your local dealer to see if it’s a limitation on the soundbar or your units faulty. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. Let me know if that helps.

Qsymphony sound delay can be adjusted in options, sound delay option. Not hard at all.

Thanks John! The Samsung is a much better Soundbar... You get a more superior range of sound and clarity. I'm not a big fan of the LG which might have seen in my video of it 😜 Cheers

Thanks Divaash. Typically subwoofers should be placed in the front of the room as that’s where they put them in cinema rooms. For me personally I go either front or right next to my couch and they both give great results.

Hi Mate, Best review on KZfaq and have subscribed 🤙 I purchased this on the weekend and am blown away paired with my 85 inch x900h. Do you have recommended settings for sound? Bass levels, rear levels etc? Trying to ensure I get the best output. You mentioned surround was preferred and I've had it on adaptive since day one 🤣

Hey Nick. Thanks for that awesome feedback. Those kind of comments make me want to keep putting out even better content for you 😊 That is a killa setup you've got! In regards to settings: These are what I have mine set too... Bass +6 Trebble 0 Centre +5 Rears +2 Sound Mode: Surround all the time. and will sometimes turn up the side drivers depending on the movie but will mostly leave them on 0 All the rest of them I leave at 0. Hi thanks for the video, are the drivers or speakers durable? And are they meant to handle loud sound? .. because people played and tested this bar playing movies pretty loud to test out ... So I guess it can handle very loud sound ... Because I accidentally turned volume form a 5 to 10 by using the sliding bar on the app which is hard to control... So I didn't do any damage to it right? .. also 950a has like 9 speakers in front .. does 900 only has 3 main ones in front? Thanks and very good video

This review was so good, it made me rethink all my other decisions about my future soundbar, although I still have a few questions like: Will I get the most out of this soundbar when I pair it with my LG oled (with eArc)? Or should I buy an LG or other soundbar?

@@foadem well bought the soundbar and i’m pretty happy about it. They work welk together although you can’t see what sound level you’re at because the display is on top of the soundbar (stupid) so you’d need to get up to see it as it isn’t shown on screen.

hola Archway excelente video muy bien explicado, tengo varias preguntas adquirí el Q900A la instale con un TV Sony Bravía que ya tiene sus años pero a pesar de todo tiene entrada HDMI ARC y funciona sin problemas, así mismo tengo un TV BOX de XIAOMI conectado al TV, la pregunta puedo conectar el TV Box directamente a la barra de sonido a la entrada HDMI 1 y mantener la conexión ARC barra de sonido al TV ???? de llegar a funcionar esta conexión así mejoro o empeoro la calidad de sonido ??? igualmente ya pedí mis parlantes traseros por Amazon a espera de su llegada para ver que tanto mejora su sonido en general

Dear sir have you noticed in surround sound mode frant left & right channel are muddy sound and both channels sounds goes in canter channel that’s is loosing sound quality. Pls update to Samsung engineer to improve that DSP sound quality for premium sound.

Great review. May i ask you a question. I have 2019 LG Tv 65UM7300 that comes with ARC HDMI only. To make better cinematic experience, what would you like to recommend for this case, a Soundbar with eARC or ARC instead. Would the difference be huge?

Thanks Benny! Getting an eARC enabled soundbar wouldn’t be a bad idea as it’ll future proof your system when you want to upgrade your TV. Currently you wouldn’t make the most of it because your TV only has an Arc port. I’ve seen that you may be able to get Dolby Atmos from Netflix built into your TV but not sure if that’s the case with that TV specifically. Apple TV plugged directly into the bar would also give you Atmos if you really want it. Cheers 😊

There's a device that's out called HD Fury Arcana. For any one that hasn't got e arc HDMI. On there TV? You run a HDMI lead from arc TV into the Arcana. Then e arc port on arcana to e arc port on soundbar. This will give you full band width of Dolby Atmos.

How well does the samsung upmix 5.1 to use all the speakers? I know it won't be true Atmos but all of my movie rips on my Plex server is 5.1. (That made it compatible with all my streaming devices and copy to tablets) I know Dolby Atmos recivers will upmix with Dolby Surround.

That’s a great question! I haven’t listened to the A9 yet but seen others reviews on it and based on the specs here’s what I’m thinking atm… The Q950a is far cheaper, would probably have better dialogue since it’s got a centre speaker and unless you’re happy to spend the money to get the A9 and Sub then the Samsung will give you a better range of sound between highs and lows. Also the A9 might not work well for some rooms since all 4 speakers have to be powered so that could mean you have to run extension leads around the room. The A9 on the other hand will have a wider sound stage since you can put them further apart and paired with the sub will probably give you the best movie watching experience. I’m very much looking to review this when I can get my hands on one. Thanks for the question.

Loving the Channel,I heard you say in the comments you prefer the Sonos.where I am I can get the full Sonos system for $3050 ouch!! Where as the Q950A is at least half that if not more, would you say Sonos is twice the sound System at that price point? Thanks in advance keep up the good work👌🏽

Thanks Evesen! I wouldn't say it's worth twice the price but there are some cool features of the Sonos such as much better room calibration, App is also better and the ability to expand the system. It comes down to whether those features are worth the price of another Q950A to you. If its based on mainly sound quailty tho then the Samsung is an awesome option and way better value.

Good Review ============== I Have couple of queries 1.If the TV has ARC and the soundbar has eARC then using ultra speed hdmi cable, does the lossless Dolby atmos option works? 2.If we play 5.1 channel movies, does the soundbar uses top firing speakers? 3.If we play 5.1 channel movies by selecting soundmode other than standard, does all 11.1.4 speakers used? 4.Connecting soundbar hdmi port to amazon fire TV stick 4k which supports dolby atmos and vision and then other eARC hdmi out from soundbar to TV ARC, will that help to get lossless sound. Thanks! 😀 1. If you're TV only has ARC then you may get a compressed version of Atmos but not the full quality as eArc is required with a higher bandwidth. 2. Yes it'll use the top speakers but it won't sound as good as Atmos and it's more ambient sound rather than specific pin point sounds. 3. I was using surround mode and that seemed to give me all the speakers. 4. I don't have a Fire TV Stick to test this but the soundbar should take whatever the Stick can give it and output that. The biggest bottleneck is the ARC port on the TV so if you can get around that by plugging a device into the soundbar then that would be best. Hope this helps

Hi great review, I only have an old Toshiba android TV with 3 hdmi port and a optical port so what is your recommend on connection with this Samsung soundbar so that I could enjoyed the atmos effect?

Thanks 😀 You'll need to buy a device that outputs Atmos and plug it directly into the Soundbar's HDMI IN port such as Apple TV or Nvidia Shield. Cheers

As always great video. Have a few questions. 1) what is the difference between 950a and 950t? 2) sonos or samsung in your opinion? 3) should you have samsung tv to get the best out of the soundbar? 4) currently I use my 14 year old 5.1 home theater set... would like to change. Should I continue to stay with 5.1 (+2 For atmos) with new av receiver or rather switch to sorroundbar? Thanks a lot

Thanks Kral. 1. Theirs not a huge difference between the two. Better bass response and more channels would be the biggest changes. 2. I prefer Sonos as it better suits having more speakers around the house and bigger, bolder sound. I just release a video comparing the two if you want more details on that. 3. A Samsung TV isn’t required but it is nice knowing you’re keeping the brands the same. If your TV has ARC or eARC then you’ll make the most out of this soundbar. 4. It depends on how much you’re willing to spend and if you want to simplify your system. A full home theatre will give you the best sound, but you may need to spend a lot to get it there. I like Soundbars for the simplicity and find they respond a lot quicker with turning on and changing to music streaming. A Sonos Arc with sub and 2 rear speakers sound great so that’s why I’ve gone that route. Hope that helps.

@@archwaytech Thanks a lot. I will renew my whole setup (tv and sound system). I wait for black friday😂 Want to buy lg g1 65, sonos arc+RS+sub and nvidia shield tv pro then.... With me it's more about movies,series and football. My living room is about.20sqm. I think with Sonos ung LG I do nothing wrong or... Sonos has but no dts x right?

if I am using an apple TV streaming box, and a non samsumg TV (a sony, for example) can I control the volume through the apple TV remote ? For example, currently I own an LG TV, an apple TV, and a bose soundbar. And they somehow all interoperate so that I can control the volume of the bose soundbar with the apple tv remote. I only watch content through the apple tv so it's nice not having to use multiple remotes.

Yes you can. The Apple TV controls the TV through HDMI CEC and since the Q950a will be plugged in via HDMI ARC, then it’ll control it just like you have currently.

Hello, nice review. What about connecting bar to Projector? those don't have ARC, just normal HDMI. will I get Atmos? i just want bar to pass video to projector and sound from bar. thx

Hey Tomas. Yeah you can plug a Streaming Box like an Apple TV or Nvidia Shield into the HDMI in port on the Soundbar and connect the projector to the ARC port on the soundbar. The soundbar will play the audio and send the video to the projector. You will get Atmos so long as the streaming box supports it. Both those I mentioned do support Atmos. Hope this helps.

If I buy samsung Q900 A system and add SWA9500s-- it will become 11.1.4 system from 7.1.2, is that right? reason I am trying to do this is, it saves me $200.00 than purchasing q950A system. if some one can answer this.

Yeah, the Q900a is what my Dad bought as he couldn’t accommodate the surround either. It still sounds awesome! Would highly recommend that option 😊

nice review :) question: Is it possible to plug a projector to this soundbar? To plug source (firestick or chromecast) to soundbar and then connect hdmi from soundbar to ptojector? So soundbar is just passign signal. I have tv and projector and would like to use atmos on both.

Yeah that would work great. When plugging a device into the soundbar, it takes the audio out and just sends a picture to the TV/ Projector.

@@archwaytech Hi again, I bought this soundbar and Optoma UHD51 projector. I wanted to pass signal as you said. I tried to connect it together in many ways but it didn't work, soundbar is silent. I plugged Chromecast to soundbar eARC, then soundbar hdmi to projector hdmi. Doesn't work :/. Please help me, it was expensive setup, I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(

@@archwaytech When I plug Chromecast to soundbar there's no picture on projector, no sound from soundbar. When I plug Chromecast to projector there's picture (Chromecast works) but still no sound from soundbar, only projector sound.

When you plug the chromecast into the soundbar do you set the soundbar to hdmi input? It might be worth trying a tv screen or monitor too instead of the projector to see if you can get an image coming out of the soundbar. Also try factory resetting the soundbar.

Just fyi...the HDMI eARC connection does NOT support dts on my 2020 top of the line flagship Samsung Q95T 4K tv. So if I want to listen to DTS:X my 4K player must be connected to HDMI1 or HDMI2 inputs on the soundbar and NOT the eARC connection. Spent the last 2 days fiddling around before I realised this and got it working. I wish Samsung would highlight this in the included short set up manual or at least in the full online User Manual. Very frustrating!!! (I think some Sony tv's are the only ones which support dts over eARC, otherwise connect to HDMI1 or HDMI2 as mentioned).

Starting from 2020, Samsung and LG (and a number of other manufacturers too) have stopped supporting decoding or passthrough of dts audio. Agreed that this is annoying especially since even passthrough is not allowed when using ARC/EARC... So the culprit is the TV not the soundbar.

The biggest difference is that eARC allows for Dolby Atmos and DTS X support. You need an eARC port on both the TV and Soundbar for this to work. You may get a lower quality of Atmos through a normal ARC port but that is very dependant on what Streaming Service you're using. With this soundbar you can plug an Apple TV or other streaming box directly into it and get Atmos that way which bypasses the need to have an eARC port on your TV. I hope that helps you.

I have an nvidia shields and thinking to buy this soundbar as an upgrade from z906...but my tv is q8fn...not dolby atmos compatible from what i understand...what are the options for the best movie experience? Do i need to change the tv also or there are some settings on tv and shiled i can do ? Any advice? Understand this or 950 t is not a massive difference except the Lmcp compatibility?

Yeah the 950T or 950A will be a big step up from the z906 in sound quality and ease of use. You don’t need to change the TV if you run everything off an Apple TV or Nvidia Shield. I think it depends on the price you can get the 950T for. If it’s way cheaper than the 950A then go for it. They both sound great. 😊

This soundbar will work with the Samsung NU7470. Just connect an HDMI cable from the soundbar to the ARC port on the TV. Hope that helps.

I haven’t personally tried it but from the looks and reviews, I’d get it for half the price. One of the best parts is that it doesn’t have a cloth covering! 😊 Being a 5.1.4 instead of the 11.1.4 on the Q950a I would think the sound stage is not as wide but will still be great for the price. Thanks

Hey, you can have the tv and Soundbar going at the same time if you plug them in via an optical cable but not through HDMI Arc. I personally wouldn’t as there’s generally a delay in audio which makes it sound echoey. You can however change from soundbar sound to TV sound in the TV settings when using Arc. Hope this helps.

Yes it will. I set one of these up on a 65 C1 and it sounded awesome. The CX is very similar and I'd definitely pair them together.

So long as you can fit the Soundbar in your room and have got somewhere for the rear speakers you will be fine. What size room do you have?

Does this soundbar support Dolby Vision and is it hdmi 2.1 ?? I have an SN11RG and Subwoofer just went out , so I’m looking for a replacement

Yes, it has Dolby Vision pass through and both HDMI ports are 2.1 enabled. This would be a good replacement for last years model.

@@DarnellMckenzieDr3stunna it doesn’t do 4k120. It does do 1440p/120 (with no HDR). It does allow 4k60 with VRR on.

Both HDMI IN ports are 2.1 according to the official spec page on LG’s website.

The Sonos has a slightly better range than this and has additional smart features to play around with. I would say for the price, the Q950A is a much better proposition but if you want the best sounding out of the 2 then Sonos is what you’re after.

@@archwaytech I went ahead and got an Arc. My previous experience with Samsung (HW-K950) still leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth when I think about that. I'm sure it's improved with now being 3 iterations later. But man, is the Arc a belter of a soundbar. The clarity at every volume, high and low is incredible. And the soundstage is so wide and encompassing. Thank you for the feedback!

Yeah, you can use it with any TV that has Arc and I’d pair it with many other branded TV’s.

I just bought this today and with some songs I play Bluetooth it has a terrible popping sound from the soundbar. Samsung support just said to exchange it did anyone else have this problem?

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking I’ll do. Because watching a movie it doesn’t even sound better than my $300 5.1 vizio soundbar but I’m not sure if that’s just because the speakers aren’t working right or that’s just how it is because there’s no popping when watching movies

Push the settings button on the soundbar remote (it looks like a cog) until you get to the channel you want to change, and then go up or down on the arrow keys to change the value.

I spoke to multiple Samsung Tech Reps and they all said they are 2.1. I don’t have any hardware to test it so can’t say for certain.

Great soundbar but cannot works with Amazon Alexa .it is not inbuilt. Just American version is works. Read it on Google some home page.teied everting not work for me

I’m in New Zealand and Alexa worked for me. This soundbar does have a voice assistant microphone. You can set it up in the Smart Things App.

I've had mine for a while now, and Samsung dropped the ball on this one. Yes, the sound is quite good. Then you get hit with the nearly useless App, the weak remote, the display you can't see, and it also comes with no manual. You have to search for it online. Even then, it is not useful. SONOS is full of tips on how to set up Xbox/PS/and Theatre systems. Samsung is good at telling you how to change the battery in your remote. Overall, if there wasn't a global shortage of products now, I would have returned the Samsung.

So the sound is good on a soundbar, but your negative review is about the controller, not knowing how to set it up or having a manual. I think you just sold me on it. Why be so upset when its working great?

@@user-bj1mx2ip1c happy to have helped you out. But my review, at the one month of ownership mark is still right-on. The display on the top of the bar is still frustrating, the lack of adjustability, and difficult set up is very disappointing. App also crashes periodically. Anyway, glad to have helped you.

my Samsung fridge has a high-pitched noise which Samsung says is normal and working within their specs. so good luck with your Samsung purchases. ill never buy anything samsung again

I really regret buying this soundbar. I dont recommend it. Its a waste of money. It doesnt sound great all the time. I have an lg home theater 5.1 setup that has 5 separate or individual speakers. And it sounds far much better that this samsung flagship soundbar!

The minute you said the HDMI ports are 2.1, the video lost all credibility since the HDMI ports are not 2.1.

I have talked with Samsung and they've confirmed that the ports are 2.1 enabled. Not sure why they don't have that information online, but it's good to know.

@@archwaytech Yeah that’s not true. It clearly states in the manual it only supports 4K 60fps and when I hook my XSX up to it, I lose all 120 FPS options.

I guess it just means it has EARC and maybe a number of other hdmi 2.1 features but not the bandwidth of 32/40/48gbps to actually have 4k120 (with different chroma/bit depth support of course depending on the bandwidth) . Hdmi version can be advertised as 2.1 by any manufacturer even if it's just EARC support which sucks, I know.
