I have a Govee motion sensor and Govee LED lamp by my cat’s water bowl…he has a depth perception problem and can’t gauge the water level, causing huge messes. So when he approaches the bowl between 7pm and 8am, the lamp comes on for 2 minutes. Problem solved, no more water splashed all over the place.

I like both cats and dogs, but prefer cats for their independence. I let my female cat roam around our gated community with an AirTag, but it’s not always reliable. I think it’s interference or lack of people with iPhones in my community? Any recommendations for a budget friendly vacuum/mop? Would love to see more smart pet videos too!

Definitely a dog person. I use the Aqara contact sensors outside for our gates as well, even well below freezing with no issues. I would like the pet feeder from Aqara, but our dog needs her dry food mixed with chicken from Costco. Yes she is sooo spoiled. Fun video Shane!!!

Have been using and loving the Aqara pet feeder for my dog. Now my only issue is forgetting to refill the bin. Would love to have a way to remind me when the food is low.

Definitely a dog person but don’t mind outdoor cats. They help keep the rodent population down out here in the country. Not a fan of any pet that poops inside the house. I have a smart-ish chicken coop door that I’ve rigged up. It’s a solar powered, automatic open/close deal that I’ve attached a door sensor to so when it opens all my Alexa devices say “the chicken coop door is open/closed”. 😂😂 You definitely hit the thumbnail on the head there Shane! Definitely eye catching. ❤️💪🏼😎👍🏼❤️

Thanks Randy! I'm glad you shared your chicken coop setup. I was thinking about that while making this video. I've never had a chicken coop (although I wouldn't mind one day). I knew there had to be some folks out there with one that have come up with clever ways to automate it and make it smart. Great stuff!

We've got both. I have the Litter-Robot for the cats, and it is an absolute lifesaver. I may have to look into the feeder for them. We have the Roomba vacuums, one upstairs and one downstairs. Would like the vacuum/moping combo, but my wife has area rugs, and she's worried they would get damaged by the mop.

What is the best way to get my zigbee/Aqara network to reach outside for the gates? Mine don’t reach the network.

The best way is to extend your Zigbee network by adding a Zigbee repeater device to your setup between your gate sensors and the hub. Most Aqara Zigbee devices that stay plugged in or are wired will act as Zigbee repeaters such as the Aqara smart plug, T1 light strip, T1 ceiling light, or smart switch (with neutral). Adding any of these should help you extend and strengthen your Aqara Zigbee network.

What are best carpets styles/high/sizes that will work with Narwal? Narwal struggles with my current carpets.

I'd imagine carpets less than 12mm. The mop heads raise 12mm to avoid carpet contamination.

@@ShaneCreates the problem with my carpets are that Narwal moves smaller ones when tries to get on them or for larger (but less than 5mm) it sometimes moves up corners or is stuck. Any recommendations?

How does that Narwal work on slate floors? Usually rough floors aren’t easily cleaned.

Well I have only been able to use them personally on my floors, which is hardwood and thin rugs/carpets. But I assume the Freo X Ultra would be a good option for a robot mop on that type of floor. The 8200pa suction is industry leading, so it is great for vacuuming. I would think the rotating mop heads on this would be better than the vibrating mop system on other styles of robot cleaners (which I have also used). Narwal boasts 12N of downward pressure for the mops, so hopefully that (plus that Dirt Sense feature) would be enough your rough floors.

I’m definitely a dog person. I use the Apple AirTag and on one occasion it was absolutely superb in finding my dog on the local Golf Course. The Rony was that there was absolutely nobody around so I’m puzzled at how it got a signal. Love the channel Shane keep up the great work!

Dogs sure. But cats are FAR easier and my cat thinks it’s a dog. Anyways. I have an Aqara vibration sensor on the back of its litter box. Then we know when and how often it’s gone. Time to clean or replace!

If I was working from home full time, I’d like to add a dog to my 2 cats, probably a puppy to make it easier for them. Regularly day long trips to the office make than unfair for now. My cats do miss me and wait for me to arrive home. If it’s winter and the lights come on with my arriving home automation, they know it’s me and are always waiting inside the front window for me so I get plenty back from my girls 😊
