Can anyone help a Brutha out? I paper these multiple times in HomeKit but as soon as I lake them and check status I get device not responding..deleted and tried a bunch of times. Does it need to be on 2.4 or 5 or does it not matter?
@ShaneCreates16 сағат бұрын
These sensors connect via thread, not wifi. So your network being 2.4 or 5 shouldn't matter in this case. That said, Matter and Thread does require iPv6. So if that is disabled on your network, it could potentially be the issue. Make sure iPv6 is enabled.

Nice video. Thanks. I have a ton of experience using Hunter Douglas Powerview via HomeKit, so smart home is pretty much all I want (Regarding Hunter Douglas: Just say no). Question though. Smartwings says you need at least one remote to set up the shades. I don't want a remote if I don't need it for smart home stuff. You mention it being optional. Did you find you needed the remote to set the blinds up?
@ShaneCreates16 сағат бұрын
I believe you can set up the blinds now without the remote... essentially you put the blinds into pairing mode and add them to your smart home. I'm not sure about setting/changing the open and closed positions though. Might be possible without a remote. Either way, I will say having the remote makes all of that a lot easier. I'd recommend getting a remote, even if it's just for setup, troubleshooting, and/or occasional use.

Thank you for the review. Unfortunately a bit of a disappointment after waiting for the hub quite some time. Although you said it’s not possible to add matter over thread 3rd party child devices (like eve) directly to the hub, I wonder whether it’s possible to add such devices to the security system within the aquara hub if they are already connected via Apple TV as a thread boarder router. I ask because I would like to add my eve door and window sensors to my aquara security system since I saw an old video of yours a while ago and nought the aquara camera hub g3. Thanks in advance.

My intended action is to leave it on base all the time and plug it into adapter too and unplug it only when I want to carry it out from its existing place

Hi, thanks for the tips. Regarding the weather shortcut; incase of going bed after midnight, it is better than getting the first index from the list instead of the second one. I've done that by getting the current hour and taking the forecast in an if clause. Regards.

Hi! I have a question about my Aqara alarm system (M2 hub). I have it set to trigger when certain windows are opened. However, I sometimes like to sleep with a few windows open. Previously, I could activate the alarm system, and it would ignore these specific windows if they were already open. Recently, this stopped working, and now the already open windows trigger the alarm after a few minutes. Did Aqara change something? Thanks!

Hi Shane. I am traveling but when I get back home, I will be purchasing the Aqara M3 hub. Your review is making do that with eyes open, but for me there are 2 main reasons. 1) I like the Aqara devices (considering the Aqara lock for my front door), 2) I want to use the IR automation features (no other device or hub I own already does that). and 3) I'd like to stick with Apple Home (vs the more customizable solutions you mention). Also, I am hopeful that the Matter support will continue to get better. In that vein, I'd like to get a Floor lamp and I like the Govee which supports Matter (price much better than comparative solutions from Phillips Hue). Any thoughts about whether there is a chance (wither now or later) that the M3 hub makes that available to HomeKit? Thanks,
@ShaneCreates5 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching. You do not need the Aqara hub to connect the Govee Matter lamp to homekit. The Govee Floor Lamp 2 supports HomeKit over wifi. You can connect the lamp directly to Apple Home.

You think is possible to connect 4 home pods and use them on apple tv as a home theater? If so how to connect them all 4?

You can connect multiple HomePods via AirPlay, but this will not be true surround sound as you would want for a home theater. And you cannot connect more than 2 HomePods as "default audio" to an Apple TV.

@ShaneCreates5 күн бұрын
Apple devices support smart charging so it should not be dangerous or bad for the battery. Even if it does degrade the battery (which it shouldn't), it doesn't matter too much if it's always plugged in.

So what if you just get Matter comparable devices that pair with a HomePod?
@ShaneCreates8 күн бұрын
Well Matter is not a wireless protocol. So a Matter device connects either Matter over wifi, Matter over Thread, or Matter over Bridge. Bridge vs. Wifi is exactly what I'm talking about in this video. Thread is a bit different in that it doesn't require a proprietary hub. There are many benefits to Thread as well.
@therealnikkij8 күн бұрын
And the Apple HomePod is a hub that uses Thread???? Or Matter over Thread??

Shane, do you have a solution to avoid these devices go unresponsive? In my case I’m using a Linksys Atlas Max 6e tri-band mesh system, it allows homekit to work. The only device that gives me the unresponsive problem is the Eve Motion sensor. I reset the Eve Motion and add again to my HK and after some time goes unresponsive again.
@ShaneCreates8 күн бұрын
There are a number of factors that can play into a "no response" error. I made a video showing my troubleshooting steps for that here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prqYicSqv93ag4E.html If only your Eve Motion sensor is having an issue, it seems like your thread network or connection may be the issue.
