A predictable book or twist doesn't bother me as long as the book is well written/ entertaining. I've seen poorly written books try to throw a twist that makes 0 sense to the story and people will love it, but i can't stand it 😅. Btw love your picks, i def read more thrillers/mysteries than horror this year

Good list! I feel like Dead of Winter was more horror, in my opinion. Read like a slasher. I didn't predict who the killer was either! I also really liked The Last Word. Another of my favorite thrillers was Riley Sager's book (The Only One Left).

Haha it was too tame to be horror for me! I needed wayyy more gore for a slasher. I didn’t love The Only One Left only because the ending ruined everything for me.

I added to my stupid long TBR 😂 I LOVED "Wrong Place, Wrong Time". My favorite Taylor Adams was "Eyeshot". That book was TENSE. Like... I legit felt like I was in the situation myself. My faves that I read in '23 were "The Silent Patient" and "Confessions".

It's past Christmas time but maybe you could try it for the next season if you're interested .. The Twelve Days of Murder by Andreina Cordani. It's the song 12 Days of Christmas mixed with a murder mystery dinner with a group of drama filled "friends" in a snowy, isolated setting with no contact with outside the house.. people start getting picked off one by one.. it's a fun one!
