I LOVE the books by him, but I HATE the endings,of this one, ‘The Resort’. ‘The Store’’The Resort’. I just want a REAL story that is Horror’.

I get you with the Howls moving castle thing. It’s part of why I haven’t read it because it is my #1 (with spirited away being a close second lol), and I just feel like I’d end up ruining it for myself.

To be fair, Christopher Pike definitely was the precursor to R.L. Stine. I was too old for Stine once he became known (not that I don’t like his work, just that by when goosebumps and fear street came out, I was way too old,) but I was reading Pike in the ‘80s at 9 -13/14. Anyway, I came across this review because I was talking about how one of my first fav “horror” books was basically I Know What You Did Last Summer years before it was ever made, and this is the book.

Hahaha yeah Tell Me I'm Worthless is BLEAK reading that mostly just hits you in the head again and again and again. Your experience is totally valid with it. Shame about Howl's Moving Castle. Hahahaha I was gonna say The Cipher's style is very similar to Tell Me I'm Worthless in that it's just bleak...edgier....depressing fiction lololol. Both are very stream of consciousness. The Rom Coms sound fun! I really need to get to some Emily Henry books. Padme rocks and those books sound really cool. This was great!

My favorite book in May was Bless your Heart - a campy vampire small town horror and June was Her Own Happiness - a queer romance/adult coming of age story ❤

Ahhh! The Queen’s Trilogy! I was so surprised to see those, I did a vlog reading those in May during a full month of Star Wars books and loved them. I highly recommend Ashoka and Crimson Climb by Johnston.

I vote "no" for Cemetery Boys. It's juvenile, very predictable, and not particularly well written.

I'd be intrigued to hear your thoughts on Bear & the Nightingale, tho it definitely is historical Russian with fantasy tied in. The author bases a lot of events on Russian history. Honey Witch was cute, v spring witchy feels! How to Solve Your Own Murder was on the sillier side for me, but still enjoyable!

She has great setups and atmosphere, but she tends to overwhelm her endings with info dumps. Ashburn House would have been far better without the stupid letter explaining everything at the end and Hunted was awesome until the big reveal turned into a "Why I Suck" speech by the newly-revealed antagonist.

I read The Resort by Bentley Little in highschool and i remember it being messed upppp, i recommend it!

I ended up DNFing Lakesedge if that helps at all. It read very YA to me, with a generic setup. I loved the writing in Beneath a pale sky! The Doctor's demons wasn't edited AT ALL! don't feel bad letting that one go. It's crazy that we can unhaul 60 books and it just makes a little dent as far as more room on the shelves 😂
