One reason I keep coming here is 1- your videos are great and I learn a ton!! 2- because you are not a slicked up talker, it is more like I am just sitting around yakking with my buddies about fishing! If I was to use a "marketing term" it would be that you are "authentic" and that scores high with me! As always great video!

Hey Tyler, To echo what others noted, the way you 'chat' to to the camera is one of the big reasons I love learning from you. Even when you may feel like you are struggling for the right words, you do a great job conveying the lesson to us...and I appreciate it. Love this new channel!

No doubt fish cruise shallow water in the morning & evening so they are easier to catch if you fish then. But to catch them at other times you just have to follow them. They will always eat if the opportunity presents itself. The moral of my comment is just go fishing and enjoy figuring it out.

Totally agree. I used to only focus at dawn/dusk, but realized it was more because the fish are up in areas I can see (like shoreline). It gave me targets to cast at and the fish just happened to be there early and late.

Predictable.....During the summer and peak of the sun, the fish seem to be very predictable. You know they're gonna be in shade pockets and the shade pockets are a lot smaller because the high sun. I think that's what you're saying and I totally agree.

A young guy who loses words... priceless. At almost 69, that makes me feel younger, thank you. I used to live in the Columbus area and knew a lot of great fishing spots. After retirement, almost 12 years ago, I now get to fish more during the day. I'm going somewhere here; working in Columbus from 9 to 5 Monday through Friday, morning and evening was the time to go, and although weekends afforded afternoon fishing, what I knew as hot spots were over crowded. So... now I get to fish all day long if I want to, and because of that, I've learned that my biggest fish are in that time frame you speak of. I live and fish in Southern Ohio, mostly small creeks. There's nothing like fishing with no one around weekdays and weekends. That's hard to do in large metro areas.

They always put the major and minor times to fish during the weather on the local news and I've noticed something about that, the best days with 3 and 4 stars are always between 10 and 2 day and night. I used to really go by that alot, but let me tell you it's crap! From my experience it's just like Tyler said, they usually bite early shallow and then by say 9 am they start slowly moving out to the mid range depths and then by 12-3 they either go deep or go for shade or cover. Then by 4 til dark they start moving back in shallow again. You can catch them all day if you understand what they are doing bc they will bite all day long if you can follow them

I'm in FL and have caught most of my bigger fish around 2pm, even bright, sunny days. There's less water to fish, like you're saying. Under a little bush, under a dock, under an over hanging tree branch.... I have had the same experience. One other good couple spots around that time is in eel grass or under mats.

As a kid, I didn’t have a boat and did a lot of tube fishing on my local body of water. I soon became familiar with the shade lines and how bass as ambush predators would shift around structures or under trees relative to the Sun. Being a smaller body of water, I'd often catch the same fish regularly in the same locations. That bass I may have missed early in the morning (perhaps while dormant or cruising) could often be found closer to home during the peak hours of the day. Today (30 years later), as a boat/bank fisherman, if I have a slow morning, I’ll often ride it out until the midafternoons to take advantage of this window's opportunity, targeting bass with precision casts and techniques. On the flip side, if I can’t make it to a body of water early, I'll hit this window and hang around for the evening bite as well. Another great video! I appreciate your attention to detail and science as an angler.

Caught my PB spot this winter at 1:20PM ha ha. Seems like most of the fish have been in that afternoon window. Also gave the water time to warm up a degree or 2. Agree on the summer pleasure boater timing. Spent a lot of time last year with my legs in the surfing position waiting for the next wakeboard boat to go by. Good thing is the bass either don’t care or have gotten used to it. I’ll have to pay more attention to the timing this spring and summer.

I’ve found I catch almost all the bass I’ve caught in the double digit range have been at 11:00 A.M. it’s been like that for years for me. I do tear them up in the early morning as well. That 3:00 time frame I’ve gotten some lunkers too but I’m usually not out that late as I get up super early to be on the water by day light.

I fish a lot of really clear water. In the summer, It’s not uncommon to have to fish down in 40 FOW under big boulders when the sun is high. As the sun moves, you can shift your boat around the boulder as the shade moves. +1 on the WooHoo crowd.

I fish a lot of club tournaments with my grandpa and recently I have noticed that the morning at around 7 to 8 even 9 is great for fishing but as soon as it hits 10 or 11 the bite turns off and its hard to catch bass. However, at around 1 to 3 when the tournament is almost done, the bite turns on hard. So in this video you are correct in my opinion.

I live up in Washington…higher latitudes longer days…but I really feel like the bite slows way down after the afternoon. So to me, it’s always hard to stay until the late late bite when you’re out they’re all day and it’s 7pm and they haven’t bit since around 430pm.

I have my own theory about the 1-3 time. It's in between the morning people and the evening people. So the bass that are more aggressive that time of day don't get caught as often as the morning and evening bass and live longer. There for they are generally going to be bigger.

Indeed, true brother. I've caught some really nice smallies during 1pm and 3pm. I've gone to ultra light because it's easier to handle. As I've gotten older, my joints in my shoulders knees wrists and back and elbows aren't what they once were. With that said that's why I've gone lighter rods and reels. I'll fish the very edge of a grass pile. I know I won't be able to pull a moderate size fish through 50lbs of grass or brush. That's why I'll throw say a 1/32 or 1/16oz crappie jig with white grub near grass. Not in the grass. I'll still pull in nice smallies or large mouth.

I new what you were going to say before I even watched the video I chased muskies for years my biggest fish came at that 1 o'clock time frame 10 to 12 ft water in the shadows of deep weeds cabbage mostly oxygen levels I believe are best at that time of day as well with photosences taken place bass take advantage of those same areas and hunt the same way it may come down to being extra stimulated with higher oxygen levels that time of day and it's much more effective on sunny days just my thoughts

I watched a bass move along the edge of a dam with a little piece of built up wall the other day. I was looking there as this was the "shade side" of the pond. Except it was almost tmid day and there was only like a 2 oe 3 inch wide strip of shadow.... Surely enough this quite big bas almost invisibly stuck to the band of shadow... exactly where you would think it would be.

Light penetration and warmth make Walleye go "down to the basement" to literally chill out. I suspect bass are similar except that bass like the water much warmer. I would also suspect downsizing at that time makes sense. If they caught something in the morning, they likely sit around and digest it. But if something comes past them and it is: 1) smaller and 2) different, they might have a snack. Its been a walleye trick for years. If you just had a huge dinner and you had to loosen your belt you're not going to want another full plate. But if someone brings you a slice of pie, you might give it a try.
