The final results of my efforts to restore our hedgerow of mixed native hedging species using traditional hedge laying techniques.
Traditional hedge laying is one of the best ways to maintain a hedgerow in a way that has many benefits not only to the property owner and the land manager but to the environment and the natural ecology too.
Although this particular hedgerow had not been maintained for nearly 30 years so consequently become a row of small trees tangled into one another, with some time and effort it has very quickly formed what would take years to develop if newly planted leaving only some thinner areas to be planted.
It will most likely be at least 3 years plus before this hedge will need laying again therefor minimizing shorter term maintenance too.
Laying this hedgerow has been a very satisfying task for a multitude of reasons including the positive remarks and comments from passers by.
