The best one is the one that works for you, not necessarily the baddest most expensive hood. I can weld a 6G tig pipe while standing on my head with a Harbor Freight hood on. It’s all in the weldor hands, not the hood. As long as you can see, you can weld.

I have the outlaw leather hood same as yours except it's all black, they keep everything out when grinding or buffing, a faceshield occasionally lets junk in that'll get under your glasses and in your eye, I've never had anything sneak in through my outlaw hood, if you need an auto lense, outlaw makes a solar lense for that hood, no worries about batteries.. if you do buy the auto lense from outlaw for the outlaw hoods you cannot stack your lenses and put em in, you have to do em 1 at a time

My everyday hood is a radnor 2x4 that I bought when I started welding. Just one of those simple filters you can slide in any hood. Since seeing these pancake hoods they would be super nice when outside!

@@WesternWeldingAcademy aft that I took welding class . Not because of the classmates told me or nominated me to weld on the said project in AG class. I've learned robotic stuff too. Not saying on what but . I learned a lot. . And yes I still have my gold lense welding helmet. I'd use that over some automatic lense darkening helmet anytime. I might get another just cause . Nothing wrong with narrow lense welding helmet. Or pancake helmet . I'll keep my gold lense welding helmet. Still in use . Periodically. Dark lense either narrow or wide lens are good too . And auto darkening helmet has said lense or according to the fastest or selected on auto darkening helmet. All are good 👍😎 I like my gold lense welding helmet. I know this isn't nothing new lol. .

Probably the best and lightest hood on the market is the Huntsman 451. Its made of carbon fiber which is way better than plastic or fiberglass. Its virtually indestructible. You dont need a flip up on the front for grinding, cuz you wont grind with a welding hood on, youll use a faceshield for better vision. I cant really speak to the auto darkening hood, but if you are a beginner or do a lot of tacking, it might be for you. After you learn to weld, you will probably want a flip up hood. Youll have to learn how to flip a hood up and down anyway.its not that big a deal. If you want a cool looking hood with flames on it or something, you can spend the extra money. I have to admit they are pretty cool😁😁😁
