I absolutely LOVE this knife as a secondary blade. I always have a larger knife with me, and then carry either the reticulan or a victorinox cadet. Check out the reticulan in damascus! It is beautiful

i love that the flipper tab is integrated into the lines/design when open. seems like it's mainly a cool looking letter opener tho. might be a good one to leave at the desk at work. im not that fancy tho.

Unique in a crowded field is a definite plus in my book, and a small flipper that actually deploys reliably is pretty unique in my experience. This one is absolutely going on the Christmas gift list!

This is a really pretty little knife. I've considered getting one. Glad you reviewed it. It's the perfect thing to carry for someone who's cutting tasks essentially consist of opening amazon boxes and blister packaging. It's non-threatening and its size says "this is just for small utility use". It won't be seen as threatening or a weapon by most. I currently carry an S35VN knockoff of Serg Pachenkos little knives (I am not a person with a big budget, It's probably morally questionable but I could never afford a real Pachenko). I keep it on a keychain. It's very small. I could see replacing it with this. I'm a big fan of Isham. I think he's the most exciting knife designer currently. His pieces are the concept cars of knifemaking, but unlike cars, knives can be sold at a price low enough that doing a production run is possible. There are enough people who will buy a super futuristic design, provided it mostly works for its intended purpose. I find that cool. I hope for more low budget collaborations between Isham and Bestech, and other affordable knife manufacturers.

I actually bought one of these about the same time as Nick and he covered every single thing down to the opening cutting my palm. Shows that beauty really does hurt

I have a bestech imp that I love, but have the same issue with the pivot coming lose fairly regularly. Don’t need more than one super tiny high end flipper, but isham designs always catch my eye. Nice review as always! Go yoga pants!

Looks like something from the Picasso school of knife design. Not saying it's a bad thing just obscures the line between utility and fashion statement.

Unless you are taking out Tangos, a 2 inch blade is plenty for most uses

Holy hell! I've seen pictures of it before but I didn't imagine it was so small. I actually never had a Bestech till recently. I was super impressed with them. Added a few of their pieces to my list.
@abc456f4 жыл бұрын
I've been happy with Bestech. Actions are really smooth. The Swordfish is one of my favorites for $52. Reminds me of a budget zt 0452. It's honestly one of my smoothest knives.
@ponchowizard51824 жыл бұрын
@@abc456f same here with the beluga. Really snappy deployment. They just make good looking knives too. I really like some of their g10 patterns and the sculpting on the handles. A lot of them have a more organic design rather than a techie/sci-fi or tactical look, which I personally really prefer.
@abc456f4 жыл бұрын
@@ponchowizard5182 Haven't picked up a beluga yet. I have a hornet and a starfighter. Recently got a Tuyaknife bruiser in micarta and it's also very smooth and great in hand. I like buying American, but there are so many of these Chinese companies putting out very good quality knives at reasonable prices that they're hard to ignore.
@ponchowizard51824 жыл бұрын
@@abc456f I love the Hornet! It's the best take I've seen/handled on the whole folding cleaver style trend. I'm not really particular on country of origin. Most of these Chinese companies got their start making knives for American companies, so I guess it's kind of our fault. But if capitalism works like everyone says it's supposed to, then buying more Chinese knifes will just give American companies more incentive to make better knives at better cost. Or so I'm told to believe.
@abc456f4 жыл бұрын
@@ponchowizard5182 I do have some complaints about my hornet. Detent is a little soft, rides a little high in pocket, and the g10 milling makes it a little tough to get in and out of pocket. I do love how comfortable it is in hand, great jimping halfway up the spine, and the cleaver shape is just cool. How is the detent on yours? Can you shake the blade open cause I can, not too difficultly.

I'd go for the Civivi McKenna, a little cheaper and slightly bigger. I have the McKenna in black with the damascus looking blade and love it.
@TheHumanFlag4 жыл бұрын
I have both knives and I carry my McKenna significantly more often. The action is still beautiful and it still is a looker. I just can’t bring myself to carry a titanium framelock on the daily. Plus being so small with such a finicky clip makes me paranoid of losing the Reticulan.

@mph seti The Reticulan is made from nicer materials. It would be nice if this design family from Isham was more evenly distributed across the price/materials spectrum.

@mph seti i woud prefer a 12c27 blade and g10 too, it woud be nice if Elisah woud do a budget collaboration with bestech, not civici so much because theyre distrobution sucks where i live
@robin28214 жыл бұрын
@mph seti There is nothing wrong with the Pletheros. The price/performance of Civivi knives is great. And yet the existing knife market extends much higher (and lower) because some buyers are willing to pay more--sometimes disproportionately more--to get more. It's not good or bad; it's just the way it is. Everyone has their sweet spot, and would like to see the knife designs they like most targeting their preferred price point.

For $111 you could get a Bugout or a Para 3 lightweight.
@bradoly1004 жыл бұрын
Curious... at $111 with great action, good materials and build and a fun design, it's a gimmick. Yet, at $225 the Alliance Design Scout, which is essentially a square titanium frame lock with a 1/4 inch more blade, is a great classy gentleperson's knife.
@unklecorky21814 жыл бұрын
I like the Isham blade more than the scout regardless of price lol
@TheHumanFlag4 жыл бұрын
I think you’re looking at it the right way. This is a great gentle person blade with more flair. My girlfriend loves it. Mine is Damascus with a gold colored handle and it is the most practical pocket jewelry you can find. Especially with tighter (yoga) pants when you want something smaller

The first time a saw the scout... I cringed. I would like to think Nick was in a great mood that particular day.

I would disagree with the issues relating to the size. All the gripes I feel would go towards all small knives, not just this one in particular. My most carried knife since moving to NYC has been the Rike Thor4S because it's the smallest higher end knife I have that fits in the coin pocket. I'm weary of carrying anything here that fits in the main pocket without a jacket on or something because the last thing I need is NYPD stopping me and taking an expensive folder.
