The curious story of the Bezerk urban legend - just how much of it is true?
This one was research-heavy, and I'm pretty confident in my findings but they aren't 100% certain.
There is one image of the Bezerk cabinet used in this video, which was taken from www.arcade-museum.com

If it’s not music from an Amiga or the game I am reviewing in the video, I probably got any backing music from purpleplanet.com.
Sometimes I use gaming-related content (such as adverts). It takes a huge amount of time to make my videos and using these helps immensely, but if you see your footage and I didn’t credit you, PLEASE let me know so I can put it right.

Interesting fun fact. The in game voice sampling was used in a late 80's Rave/Acid House track called Stakker - humanoid. If you don't know it check it out Sarah. Great tune. Great vid and glad to see you on form. 🙂👌

Yup. Stakker Humanoid is a stone-cold classic. The best version has to be the 'Snowman' mix, in which Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans manage to shoehorn bits of 'Walking In The Air' from 'The Snowman' into the track, and by fuck, it works. Cobain and Dougans were also behind 'The Future Sound Of London', whose 'We Have Explosive' is brutal and bruising. Great stuff.

The game polybius did spring to mind when you were mentioning deaths from a game. It also reminded me of an episode of a Derren brown show Where he used a fake arcade machine that created flashing imagery in such a way as to put the gamer into a hypnotic state. Derren then transported the player across the road into a Mock up location of the game and had them play it out for real (by real i mean zombie actors and paintball gun minus the ammo) before putting them back in a trance and plonking them back in front of the cabinet. According to the guy that was susceptible to that sort of mind manipulation (or more likely just some bullshit for tv trickery) the game was very realistic lol
@Phoenix2312
@Phoenix2312 5 жыл бұрын
@SteamMachine Was that in his Experiments Series? I do like Derren Brown and he is fantastic at what he does... But as his shows for TV have continued, there appears to be a lot of the Producers and stuff wanting to push the envelope... As his brand of Entertainment really does rely on 'Being there' to work... There really is only so far you can take a Mentalist Act, Its not great for TV repeating the same 'Stunts' over and over... So I do know that some of his TV stuff, particularly Later Stuff had some TV Trickery!
@steammachine3061
@steammachine3061 5 жыл бұрын
@@Phoenix2312 not sure whether it was his experiments series or tricks of the mind. I know he does use magic tricks along with psychology and often swaps between them to convince people one is the other though as I have some of his books and theyre very interesting reading. I'm pretty sure he's got another show comming up soon so I'm hoping netflix nabs that as well

Blimey. Of everything I knew of the game, the deaths for various games, especially Berzerk, were new to me. Great humor content as well!! Did you know each robot phrase cost $8000 to digitize? That machine was expensive but to this day it's one of my all-time favorites. The Atari 8-bit would finally see the game sold in third party cartridge format, albeit a couple decades and more later.

One story that always stuck in my memory was a 19 year old dying while playing Halo 3. The article said that he had a long marathon when it released, somewhere between 15-20 hours straight. When he got up for a bathroom break and snacks, he fell dead. Supposedly, he formed a blood clot in his leg that travelled to his heart. Berzerk's infamy is something I recently learned about, and this was a great video that helped me learn more. Hope to see more like this from you in the future!

And Evil Otto has a creepy grin while he slays you...showing he "just LOVES his work." Why? "Because it's Fun." He kills robots while he goes for you if you take too long, but sometimes avoid the 10 point/robot completion bonus if he shows up and just RUN! Because at 50 points/robot and 10 points per robot faced if you killed them, this is a low-scoring game. But I agree with the others, this is a wonderful piece!
