I don't think Paul did change his name though, at least not in the sense many people imply. After his conversion in Acts 9, Saul is still called that until chapter 13, when he interacts with the gentile Sergius Paulus. It seems to me that Saul was his Hebrew name and Paul was his Greek name (i.e. more similar to Cephas/Peter than Simon/Peter).
