A renovation without second thoughts, reworking mistakes or completely messing up just isn’t a real renovation! Demolition is frustrating but you’re going to need intestinal fortitude now that it’s going back together. Remember, if you’ve ever taken on a project like this I guarantee you’ve been in tears at least once before you finished. It’s okay, we’re with you all the way! Give Nick our thanks for the excellent help, what a great friend.❤️

Painting the outside would not be on my priority list. Making the home liveable is the priority in my opinion. Great catch on the joist issue. Hats off to Nick! Carry on chaps.
@jimh40722 ай бұрын
I would agree with leaving all painting until the building work is finished. I am speaking from experience here and on my third house renovation, but sometimes I think a paint job here and there can help lift the spirits when things are difficult. In my last house I wished I had plastered and painted the walls in the entrance hall much earlier than I did as there was no avoiding this space, I was looking at it every time I went to another room. When I eventually got it completed the transformation was unbelievable, the whole house felt different. It was the same when I painted the exterior walls, I hated looking at the house when walking up the street as it looked so bad. Afterwards it ended up looking better than the neighbours houses - with just some masonry filler and a few coats of white paint. 😂

Ryan, I absolutely loved the Sponsor Ad with Billy sneaking around in the background of the Convent. Your comedy is brilliant!! The TV on the wood pile was so good! Always double check your order either before you leave the shop or at delivery - doesn't matter what you buy or where it is from. Everyone is Human and the guy who brought the wood might have been having a really bad day. We don't know what anyone is going through and you handled the wood discrepancy beautifully! You and Nick were most likely goofing around and didn't check so it took all three of you to get that order wrong ROFL.

Projects like this show that anything is possible. It’s sad in a way that the original space can’t be perfectly preserved. But c. 200 year old dirt and rotting beams just don’t cut it today…or any day, really. Not to mention those small rooms meant for warmth and insulation(?). The bigger, more spacious the rooms the better. And if they had our technology then, they’d have it the same way. Though, that’s not accounting for big families. And I’m learning so much about beam…ing. And that trial and error is just parts of the experience. And, you know, the friends you make along the way. Also. I just sort of realized in this video that Ryan resembles Ben Affleck quite a bit, if we’re going to be honest. I can’t be the first to see this.

The Nick and Ryan comedy show - I love it! You guys are so, so funny together. I do miss getting to see the tea breaks and the comedy there! Also, at 16:30, Nick blinked his eyes and raised his eyebrows and made an absolutely perfect Stan Laurel face (ala Laurel and Hardy). 😆 I am so glad that Nick caught the discrepancy in the joist depth, and that there is a solution available by just using that size on a later floor. Bravo! Carry on my goodfellows, carry on. Much ❤️

Ryan and Nick can use both dimensions of lumber, the method employed to level the lower side... the "ceiling", if you may, can be achieved by fastening 1 inch strapping, perpendicularly to the joists. This will give you a method to hold sound insulation in the space, and it can offer perfect alignment of the plaster board.
