Little observation from a Brazilian here: the forest shown when Amazon is mentioned -- nit Amazon! That picture is from another forest, not a tropical one, in the Southern region of the country, totally opposite to the Amazon. It is in the Rio Grande do Sul state. Cheers!

If you are from Brazil or South America you'll rarely think of the forests at all, because the Amazon region is not very populated. Brazil is very well known for its beaches and natural wonders overall if you're close to Brazil. Internationally I wouldn't know.

The image he used to portrait the Amazon in Brazil, os actualy a picture of the Caracol waterfall in Canela, an turist city in the mountains of Rio Grande do Sul, the furthest state from the Amazon. In the winter it even snows there.

Summarazing Brazil in this video: 5th biggest, rainforest, beach. That was a lot of information about EUA, China and Russia, but so few about Brazil. Brazil has 3 of the 10 biggest rivers in quantity of water in the world. The Amazon river is the everything biggest in the world when I talk about rivers. Brazil has the biggest city in the western world, São Paulo (bigger than NY, LA, Mexico City and etc) we can found cities largest than São Paulo Just in Asia. Brazil is the longest (not the biggest, the longest) country in the world, from north to south Brazil have more than 4.300 Kilometers. Is the only country in the world that passes for two tropics, the Equator and the Capricorn tropic. Brazil is one of the welthiest countries in the world (unfortunately not a superpower, but one day I hope it'll be).

The reason the US is sometimes listed at #3 is that it internally uses a different formula for determining the area, which includes more of the territorial waters than most formulas...and ONLY uses it for itself. China is #3 regardless of which of the two formulas is used, as long as you apply the same formula to both countries, but some media outlets don’t bother to check that the US’s official area for itself and the US’s official lists of areas for other countries are computed by different agencies for different reasons using different formulae. Also the area nobody’s claimed on Antarctica was set aside in the same treaty that gave France, Britain, and a few others their claims, reserving a slice of the pie for the other major signatory of the treaty, the US. The US has never actually claimed the area, but that treaty said they reserved the *right* to claim that area in the future.

John Moore No. Australia is still smaller than any of Russia, Canada, China, or the US. Some shape-preserving/area-distorting map projections make it look bigger than it is, like how greenland and Africa look similar in size on the Mercator, but Australia would still fit entirely within the United States without issue. If Antarctica were a country instead of a no-man’s land claimed by several countries, it would be number 2: after Russia, but before Canada. Also Antarctica gets a huge boost from the fact that ice shelves are considered “land area” (Which tbf also benefits russia, canada, and the alaska part of the US, but not as drastically). If only dirt that would still be above water if all the ice melted and the sea level somehow stayed the same, it would be an archipelago, not a single continuous landmass, and the largest of its islands would be smaller than Australia.

Actually, part of Patagonia is in Chile and part in Argentina. The photo shown in 7:01 is in Chile's Torres del Paine National Park. Cape Horn is actually in Chile.

Don't be so ignorant. and you know that if Brazil did not exist, you (the whole world) would have -20℅ of the world's oxygen because of the Amazon; without Chile we would not have varied mountains and deserts; without Uruguay, the idea of LGBT marriages did not exist, and the importation of cannabis (as bad as it sounds, is not); without Argentina, we would not have as many tourist spots as this and is one of the countries with the highest literacy rate, not to mention that women assume more positions there; without Paraguay we would not have a wonderful culture; Peru has a great deal of varied and incredible plains. There are more countries in South America, and don't think anyone cares.

China is indeed larger than the US. There are only two sources that claim otherwise; the UN rankings and the CIA world factbook. Both of which are notoriously biased against all other nations but the US, because they include the territorial waters into the size of a country. The logic for this is erroneous for 2 reasons. 1) The US has 2 coastlines, bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Pacific to the West, while China only has 1. 2) The 2 aforementioned sources do not even include the coastlines of other countries, only for the US.

@@muffinman1257 you might be unaware, but map projections distort things. The most used map projection called the mercator distort size the further you get from the eqator. This is becouse you have to sacrefice something to make a globe flat. If you look at a globe you will see, that while alaska is huge, it is not half the size china

10:00 It's because of the Mercator projection. The maps we are all used to looking at warp the landmasses the closer you get to the poles, so the countries closer to the equator look smaller by comparison.

Cool video! I like all your videos btw and you have a very nice voice to listen to. You said to that Algeria has the longest coastline in the Mediterranean. That’s not true. Italy has wayyyy more but also Spain, Libia and turkey I think. It is however the largest country at the Mediterranean Sea :) Just wanted to point that out. Besides that: 💪🏻👊🏻 great video. Italy's and Turkey's coastlines are not all bordering the Mediterranean. I think you are right about Spain, and Libya is the longest. That Algerian coastline fact seems to be pulled out of some very erroneous information.

No, if you look at the actual land area, China is the second largest, China is 9.35 million square kilometers, Canada is 9.09 million square kilometers. But Canada considers Hudson Bay (an area of 900,000 square kilometers) to be part of its territory so that it is bigger than China
