When I was around 12-14 I was friends with a 20 year old. I was friends with a classmate and we both really liked tabletop rpgs. He had an older sister and her friend group was all around that 18-20 age. It was basically two friend groups playing rpgs together and we stayed friends even as me and my classmate went into college. I had 16 year old friends at 20. It's only 4 years difference. We played games together nearly every night. MiniLadd is definitely a creep but just being friends with younger people isn't as bad as you made it sound (being an internet celeb and making friends with your fans is bad but not the same as my situation). "Different parts of your life" "Nothing in common"? 4 years is like freshman to senior in high school difference (depending on when you both started school), yes people side eye a romantic relationship like that but friendship is no where near as complicated. My online friend group all played games, we met playing a game and we still play games together when we have the time. Heck when I was in high school I had a town in a Minecraft Towny server with several friends I met on the server as town officers. A 40 year old friend in Texas who worked as an electrician, two middle schoolers who were twins, and a British girl who we didn't talk to much cause she was on the other side of the world. I'm defiantly forgetting some of the Officers I was friends with back then. The limit on age was like a 6-10 year old (I didn't ask his age, I'm guessing) who really wanted to be an officer but couldn't spell correctly yet and was not mature enough to act as a mediator for problems in the town of like 100 players (the number was actually 120 but we only had like 10-20 players at time cycling in and out). We weren't really friends with him but he had his own friend group in the town. There is a lot of age overlap in online gaming. I've only ever dealt with a few creeps online. Mostly as an older player telling younger players not to give out information or to stop talking to and report this or that player when they tell me they were saying some stuff that I could recognize as a red flag.
