In today's episode, we're starting the massive overhaul of Riverviews public transport system! We initiate with an assessment of the current situation, which isn't looking great - before commencing on a revamp of the existing bus routes. This includes new stops serving major industrial areas and job hubs as well as outlying suburbs. Hope you enjoy!

Suggestion It's time for a Subway in this city Line 1 Airport - Downtown - the Yard - Carlow - North Port Line 2 Barlow Ridge - East Riverview - Downtown - new Chelsea Line 3 Kendricks - new Chelsea - Dowtown- Western old Office district - Highschool NOTE make line 1 go near the Railway station Line 2 and 3 come together at a junction station under or near the park Do not connect to line 1 And New Busline Barlow Ridge - East Riverview - new Chelsea (Avoid downtown) - few more stops then straight to North Port

*If* Riverview was to get subway, that would be the perfect lines imo, great suggestion! Here's my suggestion, if no subway is implemented, for two new bus lines (or one bus line and one tram line), potentially also a city ferry: - *RTA* *6* ::: RV College - East RV - New Chelsea Promenade - Bedford Down - North Port - *RTA* *7* ::: New Chelsea Promenade - Downtown Bus Terminal - Westground * * = RTA 7 can potentially be a new tram line instead: - *RTA* *Orange* *Line* ::: New Chelsea Promenade - Downtown - Westground (potentially passing Love Island, making it a quite scenery route) Maybe there's a need for a city ferry between Chelsea Promenade and Riverview Proper (the ferry stop should be located between RV Central Station and Autumn Mills).

Would city ferry work The river is actually pretty narrow and the ferry terminal itself is BIG And there are a lot of riverside properties He would have to do a major MULLIGAN aka demolition and expansion of the Rivers width plus the River is coming down hill from North Port so because of heavy water current it might be unreasonable

Finally a Public Transit episode!!! I have two suggestions though, things that i feel your city DESPERATELY needs. 1. I love the buses, but your three (or is it 4?) towns need a suburban train line. It would reduce bus congestion a lot. 2. Create metro lines, I think it's time.

We need a new tram line connecting East Rverview - Chealsea - East port - Dowtown Riverview through the central station ! I think a bus line should start in Chelsea (where the tram passes) and go all the way to north port by going through birdsone glade. I also think that the city lacks public housing, maybe you should create a sort of sensitive urban zone in Ranklin Crossing.

Great episode, much needed! I would suggest 2 things: 1) RTA 4 could stop in Birdsong Corner after Palmer Way. Then continue on an interstate on the opposite side of the river to the highway (the "old street"), and then connect to Kendrik with a bridge to the main commercial strip. 2) RTA 5 could be extended to include Bourne and Bedford Bluff

45:40 you left a waypoint in the "area of no sanity"' that's why it didn't realign to the new route 53:00 the pedestrian crossing isn't going away because you've connected a pedestrian path directly to the street instead of drawing the path adjacent to the sidewalk. Then the paths usually create crossings that you can't remove for some reason. Otherwise, thank you for another good video :)

suggestion: do the main lines as a tram lines , use the busses for the suburbs and the neighborhoods. so theres one or two tram stops at the edge of the neighborhoods from where the bus routes start. have two or three express busses connecting directly to the city.

Hi man great video, loved every minute of it! Here is some of my ideas for what you could add to the public transportation system: 1. Give Maddison Avenue dedicated public transport lanes, same goes for the full stretch from downtown to the urban core of East Riverview. 2. Along the main public transport corridors make the trams like an express service with the busses serving more stops (This seems to be already mostly the case just double check the stop spacing) 3. Make sure you do not create a downtown-centred public transportation system perhaps a ring route East Riverview, Kendrick, New Chelsea, North Port, West Ground and finally to the Airport. So that people can also travel from suburb to suburb 4. A ring route on the main island where Riverview proper is located could help spreading passengers within the city, similar logic as behind point 3. 5. A metro service possibly? If so I personally would recommend a kind of square with the focus mainly being on connecting the Yards, downtown Riverview, East Riverview and New Chelsea. Anyways I hope you find this useful looking forward to the next episode:)

Because it's underground it's less visual, so I think there should be a metro that's mostly above ground but goes underground for the cities.

I think, like in every big cities, there should be more bus lines! I would do at least 10. And yeah metro it’s imperative, at least one station in each hubs (downtown, east, kendrck, airport, port, yard, college) We want an episode like this :D

As for the BRT in the beginning of the Video: instead of making the current rural line longer, you could make a higher capacity "express" line. It could run from East Riverview on dedicated lanes to and through downtown Riverview and then go to Kendrick via the highway. That way you would have a fairly good BRT that is truly express

Awesome episode! Apart from more tram and a metro system as others have suggested, you definitely should reconsider the fundamental setup of your bus lines. Not everyone want´s to go just to downtown and back. You should provide the opportunity to ride the bus from one edge of the city to the other. This will remove a good junk of "line switching" (but obviously not all), which will make the busses more attraktive compared to the car. Your additional/new bus lines should cover the city more like a circle. Connect the ends of your current lines, like in a spider web. This will make trips via the bus shorter and will encourage less car use.

I think you could easily drop everything from line names other than their number and terminal stops. Currently the naming convention is oversaturated by the word "Riverview", which is not ideal for glanceable navigation. For instance, "RTA L5 Barlow Ridge" looks much cleaner. You could also use letters in line codes to highlight whether lines are express or local (E1 vs L1), or hint at the direction they travel in (N1 vs S1 for North and South). Finally, East Riverview and its suburbs could be served by a different bus operator, East Riverview Transit (ERT), which would provide an excuse to add another bus depot and run shorter more local lines overall both for East and regular Riverview. I've sent a concept map for a metro system in your email, but I guess I can write it here shortly(...). The first line you make should def be old port - downtown riverview - east riverview, with further expansions later in both sides. second line should be a connection from airport to east port, via downtown (interchange). third line, and maybe the least important for now, should be the connection of sterling - east riverview (interchange with 1) - east port (interchange with 2). All three of them should expand into the suburbs later on. Overground whenever possible, cuz its cheap n cool as heck. line 1 should have a stop in college, and later expand till north port. line 2 should have a stop in southside, and expand to Kendrick following the highway. ...that's the short version. Keep up the good work!

When I name lines in my cities I use the distance the line travels to generate route number. In my current area of Mandeville County, I have the Mandeville Transit Authority, which is the MTA. For every line that is added, the distance determines the number of the route like this: If your route is 3.3 km, it’s line 33. If it’s 10.6 km, it’s line 106, and so on. In instances that we have lines that are the same distance, you can either do a letter instead of a number or a letter on the end, like Line E or 33x.

35:40 what I did in my city was to build a tram-route above the road. The stations are reached by some pedestrian paths with ramps up onto the tram tracks. It works quiet fine, maybe you could also build somethingh like this in this area? Would be quiet interesting. You could also make it a Bus and Tram route like that one in Oberhausen (Germany) above the road. Or maybe a doubledecker road

Great work! I think it may be useful an even realistic to add more stops within same lines. It's common to have one stop every two blocks in downtown areas in the us. That's probably whats causing overload of passengers waiting, which also means the buses stay longer at stops, causing traffic jams

I think a fun idea could be to rename “RTA” to “TARV” - Transit Authority of Riverview. Pronounced like an actual word. Could represent a new era of Riverview’s public transportation. Maybe the city’s residents have finally demanded change and this is how the government is trying to symbolically appease. Could also open up the possibility of a metro system in the works within this new organization. TARV is also catchy - speaking from experience as a Louisville, Kentucky college student where our public transit is called “TARC.” (Transit Authority of River City.) In fact we usually call taking the bus taking the TARC. Just a thought to play into the story of the city!

I suggest installing a commuter rail line between the furtherst suburbs and downtown. Ideally, connect the airport as well. There is still some space available at the airport for a terminus/loop. I don't think heavy real can continue on into the mountains. Mountainous train tracks are rare.

Thanks for another great video! I don’t agree with others that you need a subway. Rather, build a tram/bus/pedestrian ONLY bridge crossing from Downtown Riverview to the other downtown cores. Express routes without any intermediate stops would move people quickly. Plus you’ve just setup local lines for people to transfer to express lines. Check out Tilikum Crossing bridge in Portland, OR for example of tram/bus/bike only bridge. Thanks for listening! Good luck lol

Looking at all those areas downtown full of people, I feel like CS2 should add random events to the game, such as block parties, political rallies, and protests. Give a reason for large groups of people to congregate downtown, maybe with a large notice to the player (with an "Ok, I got it" button so the player acknowledges a major event is taking place) would be cool to see, complete with the ability to manually choose a response, and citizens can react accordingly to a chosen method of response. Just a thought/suggestion, just in case any CS2 devs are watching this.

Hello ! Great video, as always :). For the tips I can give you for a great transport infrastructure, you should be aware of the following points: 1) You can have a regional train line system connecting major hubs. A first line going from the valley to the airport, the main station, north Port and go outside north; and a second one going from main station, East Riverview, Barlow Ridge and the outside of the map, next to the I25. Don't be shy to dig some tunnel for the tracks like in major city, like Paris, London or even some smaller one like Geneva or Luzern. Every station become a transit hub. 2) you can have 3 or 4 metro lines connecting smaller hubs but related to the regional train system, allowing your citizen to use the metro as a transit system and not your main. IRL trains can have 2 or 3 times more passanger than a metro (but it less frequent). 3) If your metro line is light but still to much for a bus, use some trams. 4) you can create 5-10 bus lines following this simple rule: connect two isolated location through transit hubs. Don't ever start a bus line in the middle of downtown without a proper infrastructure. This create a lot of issues with the passenger waiting for their buses in the middle of the street rather than in a road station. For exemple you can have a bus line starting from the north port, going to new chelsea, going to east riverview through the countryside and ending in barlow ridge. I hope it will help you for preparing your transport infrastructure for the future episodes.

I’ve been think for a few episodes now : how good a metro and more trams on the main roads would do. Sweet Jesus. Also, you should do express lines from each town to the main cities/ work hub areas and go to the airport. Also loop lines in each city area.

I think the whole bus system could be broken into smaller lines with a handful of strategically located transfer stations around the city. That will also limit how many lines get screwed up when you re-develop parts of the city.

Riverview desperately🥵 needs a bus line RTA 6 "RV College - East RV - New Chelsea Promenade (aka 3rd major city) - Bedford Down - North Port", and a bus line RTA 7 (could potentially be a tram line RTA Orange Line) "New Chelsea Promenade - Downtown Bus Terminal - Westground" (tram line could pass Love Island). Maybe there's even a need for a city ferry between New Chelsea Promenade and Riverview Proper (ferry stop located between RV Central Station and Autumn Mills). (Btw: You forgot to remove a line-waypoint in Oldport for the yellow bus line. Your city has two different places called Bedford/Bedford Gardens and two places called Briarwood/Briarwood Downs)

Ideally you should have a bus stop/line covering every named neighbourhood. You missed a few which I'm sure you can include by slightly extending the existing routes. This last few episodes have been really engaging with the mass transit renovation. Its like going over the past each time you take a route across a previously established neighbourhood, which really brings back the memories

Make a sort of elevated road over sunny side avenue to help the traffic flow and you do not have to destroy the buildings extend the motorway somehow

You might add a circular line connecting all the outskirts that are not serviced yet. It could touch with other lines here and there, so people can change lines to wherever they want to go :)

Hey man, I just had a thought that it'd be cool if you had a long form cinematic shot following a car of Joe as he moves into the city. Showcasing the sights so we can get a really amazing view of this place once the traffic issues you've been working on are solved to your liking. Kinda like the view following the commuter train in the Coniferia series.

I don’t know if it fits what you imagine of an american themed city, but i could see for better connectivity of the bus lines, a cercle line that would cover the 3 major cities of the metropole. I feel like it could relieve the reverview downtown station as well as allowing passengers to have more options to go from city to city.

Hey, as usually I loved the Episode! I have 2 Suggestions: 1. As a passender I would be really mad, if the tram-Stop and the Busstop are not at the same Spot 🙈 2. I think for Downtown you will have to Upgrade to Subway soon 😅

I agree with some of the comments about a subway, but in addition with regard to your tram and bus network it may be beneficial to research a "hub and spoke" network model where you have community regional lines that are connected by express busses that traverse large routes into central regions (which would be serviced by the regional lines). That way the sims can move throughout their communities easily and still be connected to places like Northport with a focus on efficiency. If implemented correctly you might even be able to cut back on transportation budget, even though that seems like less of a concern.

It might help to create a satellite view with a "heat map" showing those heavy cue zones then allow some of the community to suggest some solutions. You could even try the slime mold experiment they did for Tokyos railway system, really interesting reading!

So I think of public transport like road hierarchy. Trains or other direct connections to and between CBDs ,tram and subway to traverse those most connected neighborhoods to their CBDs and as @CityPlannerPlays always says, busses are your last mile connections. Obviously busses can also connect the outer areas of a CBD like spokes on a wheel where tram or subway won't be needed. But busses traveling over the bridge to Eastport and really any super long line means more vehicles, less full clogging the roads

I have a feeling that the main problem with traffic on that old/dense avenue are the pedestrian crossing on the roundabout. There is a stream of people constantly crossing which blocks cars. I would suggest to remove the crossings on most sides of the roundabout, and then place a traffic light with crossing on the next nearest intersection, so that they group up and cross all together. 😉

Ah ok you did notice it later in the video 😅 but yeah, when you have lots of pedestrians is often better to have traffic lights so they cross quickly all at the same time rather than blocking cars continuously 😉

Your downtown needs the most American public transit there is: A highway. The original bridge coming into the downtown should no longer terminate. That should alleviate some of that traffic.

As a Brit I find that the number of stops on your buses just ain't enough. Where I live, our bus network has 3-4 stops whereas your city has just one over a similar distance. I know some will suggest metro (and to be fair, 2-3 lines would be killer) but a good bus/tram with a suburban rail network would cover most eventualities.

I think you need to remove the stops on the major road just a block down from your bus station. That would force people to use the station rather than crowding the road. Also maybe rerouting your buses so they aren't clogging up the major avenue where the highway terminates into your downtown.

Instead of terminating RTA 1 at the central busstation, I would extend it to New Chelsea. Then I would also add another line RTA 6 going from the College to North Port going directly through New Chelsea without covering Downtown

It could be helpful to add a suburban line connecting East Riverview and the other suburbs to the east and north, so people don’t have to go into downtown in order to go between suburbs.

Suggestion for the bus line naming scheme. Currently you are adding long names that get cut off so they won't help you understand what bus line you are looking at. Just abbreviate Riverview to RV, and only add the final destination, so e..g RTA 5 - RV - Barlow

37:52 the roundabout is good but all the vehicles are stuck because of the crossing it is happening. Please make a path for the pedestrians going over the roundabout (like a small overpass) and remove the crosswalk there, you have the needed space for it and it will alleviate the traffic situation there

bus lines shouldn't be that long, way shorter. you are looking for a metro on this size. busses can never solve the passenger issue. custom underground parking should also do a lot.

i think you need to pedestrianize some of your mainroads like denver did for it mall's street. Pedestrianized your main road where tramways and bus pass would be good because now car traffic doesn't help

I have no idea if CS2's pathfinding AI will support this, but maybe consider building park and ride depots out in your less dense suburbs? With people driving to a larger bus depot rather than the buses stopping at lots of stops throughout the suburbs, that would hopefully reduce travel times.

New Chelsea should have it's own central busstation. And one line has to go just between New Chelsea bus station and Riverview bus station.

The _Downtown Riverview > East Riverview > Kendrick Line_ is a bad idea because it is too long covering too wide a distance. Kendrick should be connected to East Riverview and Downtown Riverview via *commuter rail.* Buses should only cover a short distance covering the gaps between railway lines. You are building the transit system very inefficiently.

I'm afraid you need to redraw the tram line from scratch entirely because it clearly has its stops in messed up order causing trams to drive end to end with no stopping. That's why tram stops have such a long average wait time

Instead of a metro like others are saying i suggest making a new tram route but with mostly its own tramways a sort of fast tram. this way it will be separated from traffic but not such a big step up to an actual metro.

I think you need to separate names for difrent transit not every one to be L-number but busses can start with one like 11 or 12 and trams with 2 like 22 or 25

Siggestion, maybe you shoudl add local networks, like buses that get people from close to home and get them to local hubs, wwhere mets corridors, high caapcity trasnit lines conmecting whole areas, this way sill can cater a better nukber of passgers, buses servings as last mile solutions and corrdiors handlinv the heavy work,

maybe it is time to ban roadside parking on some of the busy main streets by upgrading the roads to having more lanes without increasing their width. Hence increasing the traffic throughput.
