Impressive early music synchronization with fevered visuals, 1930s-cartoony to the point of being camp. Classical themes: "Moonlight Sonata", "Poet and Peasant Overture". Popular themes: "Down Home Rag", "St. Louis Blues".

I would be happy if he animated the 3D scene near the end of the windows and the people looking out of them and the people on the street.

According to music historians the Jazz genre evolved from the fusion of European and African music traditions in the U.S.. This cartoon however, depicts a dead European music and the sudden appearance of the rambunctious new jazz idiom - with no blending of the two.

Krazy in diapers ! but he was being a real trouper and did not seem to mind. And in fact this was a great role for Krazy, flawlessly executed. Very richly imagined visuals from start to finish, including that strange moody beginning, make this one fine cartoon.

There's Liszt's 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody, with Franz Liszt himself tickling the ivories. I like how these old abandoned pianos are better tuned than most household instruments. (And don't even ask how they got a grand piano into the attic!) Ted Lewis? Could be. I was all set to guess Mayor Jimmy Walker.

That Hungarian Rhapsody is the most popular piece in cartoon. I have also heard it played on the piano by Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, Tom and Jerry...and conducted in an orchestra by Alexander the Lion and Oswald the Rabbit.

@@richardranke3158 And of course, Daffy and Donald did it in an arrangement for two pianos and WMDs in Roger Rabbit. "Largo al Factotum" has been pretty popular, too, in terms of full-length type performances that took up most or all of the cartoon.

Thanks for posting. Any way you could post The Merry Cafe from 1936, which I recall as a fantastically cool and creative jazz dream, but can't find anywhere.

Krazy looks good in diapers. They should have made a baby Spin off. This must have taken a long time to animated back then.
