Another aspect of George that makes him feel fair was the fact players are in control of angering him, their positioning and training abilities determines when he’s enraged

I played this map when I was like 11. The best part of this map, something that captured zombies the best in my eyes was the Avenged sevenfold song Not Ready to Die. Zombies and metal go together too well to not include a horror metal song. That’s also why Elena siegman, Brian tuey, James McCawley, and Kevin Sherwoods contributions were all so welcome and fitting to the overall theme of horror mixed with nail biting action

Another thing about killing George is using phd flopper. Take him to the Stamina Up Ramp and just dolphin dive him continuously to kill. Takes some time but doesn't require any ammunation. Also be careful when coming back do not get stuck lmfao.

This was the second map with a long form easter egg quest, but it was the first to have it able to be done solo or with a squad, with little tweaks depending on whether it was a solo or group run. I stayed up really late doing the solo quest because some of those steps required mystery box luck, points, and DPS from a good weapon. A very cool map that is my favorite setting of the series. Love your videos omg I’ve been bingeing them and have lost sleep. Totally worth it for this kinda top notch content, clearly made with love for a special game mode we all grew up on. Thanks bro.

You know, thinking about it. I do wonder how much cooler Tag could've been if the hermit was one of the CotD characters. Could've been fun.

I’ve played zombies for a very long time and this is one of my favorite maps, stopped playing around the beginning of BO4 zombies and am just now learning of all the different uses of the VR11

I've never really liked COTD that much, but you make a lot of good points about this map marking the point when Zombies transcended its side mode status and became its own thing, and that helps me appreciate it more. Great video!

Though I actually don't at all care for the cast of characters, as they don't at all act like their on-screen personalities. I thoroughly enjoy this map! Having the ability to get all perks and a limited use Wunderwaffe, was always cool, and worth doing the EE, since this was and is the only Main quest completable solo until Der Eisendrache, with useful reward.

Playing as a kid and getting Danny Trejo or Michael Rooker was instantly a flex. Had a friend who’d keep backing out and making us restart until he got Danny Trejo. Good times.

What’s sad is that I didn’t know this map existed, I only got to experience BO1 at my cousins house on his play station. So being new to zombies we only played Kino, Five, and Moon

Just wanted to say really great coverage of these maps!! You're able to go through all of the aspects of these maps and the building blocks that they've been up to this point and thoroughly break down the map without giving a ton of details to bog us down with, that we will see when we play the map for ourselves. And your objective analysis and pointing out intended purposes of particular mechanics or map designs or overlooked additions or new things you didn't have to think about before and whatnot helps paint a vivid picture of what this map is/what this map is at X point in zombies and if not changes my perspective of the map subjectively, I can appreciate the new ideas that came with these maps more and hold them in a high regard in the sense that they had a place in zombies for better and for worse. Black Ops 2 is the epitome of that, imo and I'm really curious to see what you say when I get there. Keep it up please!!!

Videos like this where the old version of the map is put alongside the remaster, really shows how the remasters are just wayyy too oversaturated. The original Call of the Dead actually looks like a real place and more importantly - looks cold. These cheap remakes are poor in comparison. Also, I hate how new "easter eggs" (really they're just quests now) hold the players hand so much. The magic of the old maps was holding 'X' on a random brick or something to uncover a secret. There were no button prompts or on-screen pointers, which made you feel like there was something to discover that nobody had discovered before. Just looking at the HUD of the newer maps alone, you're bombarded with everything you need to know and MORE. I feel like after BO2, zombies went downhill. I still absolutely love BO3 but it lacked the mystery that the old maps had.

I think this map created 2 new zombie animation run like we see in 8:56 the ones we also see in origin tank ride where zombies run faster with different run animations

i personally never saw them as "easter eggs", but just pieces of the zombie lore; or as an example with the Walking Dead, the "what happened?" pieces, or "what caused it". I saw it as dead when it changed from "what ended the world, and how long can we survive it", to "what can we do to complete the quest given to us by a wizard in an entirely different place of existence and can we even trust him." If the story evolved in a more "How can I save my world, and humanity and eradicate the zombie horde", and sort of made it's own spin off game series, and gave it the vision that the World War Z movie wanted to be I would have continued to love zombies past black ops 1. Although Black Ops 2 for sure is the goat, they just kinda started grasping at straws and going on weird ass tangents hoping the masses would love it when they had no idea what else they could possibly do after blowing up the fucking Earth on Moon. IMO Moon should have been the canonical end of the Zombies story with all the characters now dead on Moon, and the Earth blown up so even with Richtofen getting his way, he still lost. And every other map, or continuation of the story prolly should have been prequel stuff, like what the fuck happened to cause it. idk, im just a youtube commentor though, and no one will read this so what do i know.

Good video but I only disagree w ur opinion on Ascension. As much as I agree it is one of the easier maps it wasn't mindless and basic. It was a really cool map imo and I loved the feel and the black and white aspect. The introduction of the Gersh device (I think it was the first map w it) was really cool and became arguably the best throwaable in zombies too.

I hate that they Didn't include call of the dead in the Old school zombies dlc for BO3

Zombies success is also its failure. Activision wants another zombie chronicles since it was (not sure if it still is) their most successful DLC ever but when bo4 didn’t even reached half of bo3 peak, they defunded zombies ever sense, in bocw we ended up getting way less content. And then vanguard which is straight disrespectful. Battle Royale is the new thing. unfortunately zombies isn’t bringing in any new fans anymore and I doubt bo6 zombies is gonna be even worse.

While i hate the fact that they forced you to train, everything else about this map i really like

This came out while I was still in elementary school. To this day I love COD zombies but I got nightmares as a kid from it, even though I would get up the next morning to play it with my brother. To this day I can't watch videos like this or your ascension vid without feeling slightly panicked, my breathing and heart rate jumping a tiny bit and my hands getting clammy. Is this normal?

@1:35 Kino wasn’t an exception, it was a map from WAW campaign. It is theorized that Kino was originally meant to be a WAW map given that it is so similar to Der Reise, and WAW only had 3 DLC maps compared to the traditional 4 we usually get in games.

The problem with CotD's popularity was that Moon overtook it in the popular zeitgeist as "the" BO1 defining map, something I fell into myself since at the time I only could afford one map pack and so Rezurrection it was. Calling back to a bunch of my friends at the time, we were mostly all in that situation, apart from this one guy who was filthy rich so he had everything. I will forever appreciate CotD for what it did to the Zombies formula, as without it we definitely would not have MotD.

Michael rookers most well known role was definitely not from the walking dead back then 😂 the dude was a 20+ year industry vet by the time COtD came out. However, the rest of the video was well made 👍

The birthplace?... in what way? Nacht is the only map that deserves to be called "the birthplace" for any reason - the "storylines" are what ruined the best part of Call of Duty.

Shi No Numa was the easiest map. Ascension was easy too
