maybe the sing-a-ma-jigs were the friends we made along the way???
"Sing-A-Ma-Jig"s were an electronic singing stuffed animal toy released in 2010 that despite taking the internet by storm were extremely challenging to research due to lack of information online.
In today's video I decided to investigate that and come to whatever conclusion i could with the limited information that's online (which is one wikipedia article & I had to rely on youtube videos from the time period to fact check)

Singamajigs were the bain of my existence as a kid. I thought about them every day, I would become paralyzed with fear whenever I saw one. I hated the horrible sounds they made and their ugly, beady eyes. I refused to go into toy stores for fear that I might see them on the shelves.

We randomly had one in a toddler classroom I was teaching in and when I tell you the kids LOVED it even though it didn't work and just would let out one cut off little "AH-" if you pushed it really hard. They fed it toy food and bit their fingers with it or played baby lol it was a favorite.

i had a nightmare as a kid when i had two singamajigs...and it blended in with my reoccurring nightmares of self driving cars crashing through my window with 'grass skirt chase' playing. This is a real experience...i fear these creatures.

I was gifted one of these as a kid and it scared me so bad 😭 I got tired of looking at it so I threw it behind my mom’s desk… This resulted in me becoming scared of the desk because I feared I’d see it’s little beady eyes staring at me from behind it…💀

i have a youtube video privated from 12 years ago, i’m wearing an elmo snapback and i’m playing with my moms green santa sing a ma jig, and a white snowman kinda guy. my mom was obsessed with them, so these have a very special place in my heart 😊 just wanted to share because a lot of your content reminds me of some really nice times in my life when my mom was around so idk thanks for making these kinds of videos 😂❤ oh and i’m pretty sure the sing a ma jigs sang jingle bells!

in 2010 I was in the 10th grade, going into 11th. I remember begging my mom for one of these for my birthday and I didn't know why. They were just so cute and I loved the concept lol. Now that I'm 28 and a proper toy collector, I understand and accept myself for why I wanted them. I think I had 2 or three and I still love to get them down and make them sing sometimes lol.

I was obsessed with these as a small child. I think all the ones I had were found at Goodwill. I say this because I always called them "Singing Ots" because of all the "Ahhhh" sounds they made. Didn't even realize they could sing for a while. The ones I remember having were; The purple one that sang "Clemintine" The dark blue one that sang "Skinnamarinky Do" The blue one that sings "When the saints go marching in" And maybe the blue one that sings "For he's a jolly good fellow"

OMG I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THESE- So I specifically remember these being sold at Zellers (Which was/ kinda still is in a way a competitor to Walmart in Canada) but they closed around 2011 and never remember seeing them at Walmart, (Or anything I grew up with that either got reboots or continued after 2011 like Zhu Zhu Pets, LPS and Sing-A-Ma-Jigs, Curious if anyone in Canada has also experienced this, like even when reboots happened, my Walmart just never had them (Which is the only "big" store we really have where I am now), but been loving this channel, been going down so many rabbit holes from my own childhood thanks to these kind of video essays

@@morganorwhatever I know Zhu Zhu Pets are gonna get rebooted again and I’m curious where they’re gonna sell them tbh, since ToysRUs hasn’t been doing too good in Canada now (least the once where I am), and we don’t have that many options that have enough locations across the country But I’m glad I’m not the only one who just thought they all disappeared lol

They’re such odd looking guys yet are very nolstagic. I remember getting my green one with a yellow shirt as a Christmas gift when I was around four and absolutely loved it. He was the one that sang London bridge. I eventually got one if the duets that was the red and yellow one that was mentioned.

Fun fact : There are mini singing keychains of sing a ma jigs, four exclusive ones exist in Japan and 4 exist in the us. I have most of them. Except for Blue. There is the blue saints sing a ma jig, red oh where has my dog gone, pink skip to my Lou, and yellow home on the range, the exclusive ones are Orange on top of old smokey, mint green it's raining it's pouring, purple oh Susana, and another one which I have forgotten. Also, the US version of mini sing a ma jigs sing, while the JP ones sing harmony. Another fact : There is also an extremely hard to find yellow "tutti frutti" Japanese sing a ma jig that could only be bought as sam's club in Japan, And another fact : There is a Baymax sing a ma jig which became lost media after a video of it had been deleted a few years ago, Also, there is a extremely rare Sam's club fuchsia colored sing a ma jig duet that has a blue baby, it sings Skinamarink. Only the audio of it exists, and also the fuchsia duet was available on Amazon Japan at one point, it is currently unavailable. Rumors say there's a chartreuse duet. Even Mattel confirmed the chartreuse duet exists, even if there's not a single video of picture of it. Nobody knows the song of the chartreuse duet, which basically makes it lost media.

Aww I remember seeing Singamajigs at the Times Square Toys R Us when it was still open. Pressed one of their tummies out of curiosity and thought it was really cool! Kinda wanted one but never really got around to buying one, since I was into collecting so many other types of toys I just couldn't prioritize a Singamajig. As an adult they always kinda sat at the back of my mind. Maybe now that I'm an adult with adult money I'll grab one online. I think they're super cute.

The original Singamajigs left in 2014, then returned in a new form in 2016. What a coincidence that at the time, something else was around from 2014 to 2016. Something involving creatures that can fuse. I wonder what it could be...
