I hear ya. I also don't shower at night when I'm alone, either, Anon. Not without a gun in the shower with me (sealed in a plastic bag). I also am cautious around In-Sink-Erators after another horror film (I think it was Poltergeist?) when some poor boy got his arm almost tore off when one such Dispos-All was activated with his hand in it.

Honestly George had it better than a lot of the people in this movie. They all get digested alive and are alive for the entire process. George gets his head almost instantly crushed. Like cmon you're gonna tell me he had it worse than the kid in the sewer?

This film is the perfect horror movie night selection. It’s almost as much a parody as it is a horror film. My wife and I watched it a few years ago and were absolutely enthralled the whole time. Love how people you think are going to be the main characters keep dying.

This was the first clip i saw from the blob and as soon as the scene ended i looked back at my sink and i heard some noise, now i know it was the sink getting clogged at that time i didn't knew, but when it started to make noise i imedtiately went outside and was scared to come inside. Man those times were the worst for me as a kid

@@robertveith6383 strongly agree the actors acted like regular people not stupid Hollywood stars and the paranoia was top notch and the loss of trust in one another, in the blob you see what the monster is and try to survive, whilst in the thing who IS the monster? That's why the thing is the best horror movie

Funny story. I went to rent the old b&w one when I was twelve. Got this one without realizing it was a remake of the old one. Didn’t get past the hospital scene. Scared the shit out of me. 😂

hahaha right? I spent the night at a friends house and he convinced his mom to rent this for us. I had no idea what we were in for and it was absolutely terrifying. I don’t think I slept the entire night and when my mom picked me up in the morning she said I looked like I hadn’t slept at all.

I always remember this scene as an unintended PSA for Drain cleaner safety as a lot of them are acid and sometimes can violently back flow and if you're looking down the drain at the wrong time...

The thing is sadly I sold him the drain opener a week before and warned him to read the label...he did not. He survived but acid/alkaline burns are no joke.

I was 6 years old when I watched this at my friends house. His older brother rented it out at the VCR cassette rental shop, “global video” I think it was called the shop. I was horrified at this part because to me back then it looked real, obviously things have moved on quite a bit since then. Most movies aren’t practical effects anymore and this would be done with CGI today. I’m 42 now so this really takes me back. I was 6 years old watching an 18 year old rated movie…

This version of the blob was absolutely fking terrifying. The scene where the blob had a girl trapped in a phone booth screaming as she saw smearing up against the window a decaying body within the blob, was so fked up, that it would give Stephen King nightmares.

This is probably one of the most gruesome ways to go, ever! Even if they die quickly, before actually getting pulled through a tiny opening, it’s still really sickening! Only way it’s worse is like in deep rising, when the woman gets pulled down the toilet butt first, so she’s alive and feeling it, maybe until her head goes down, last…..even though it was just like a second long, ewwww!

One of the best creature festures of all time. Anyone else ever wonder what senses the blob uses since it doesn't have eyes? I've always figured infrared plus vibration sense? So if you were wearing a cold suit and stayed absolutely still would it go right past you? Would anyone be willing to risk testing that out? Kind of a terrifying prospect.

On the bright side, it killed him before the bit of it he touched could start dissolving his hand. There are a couple examples later on that shows just what brief contact with it can do to flesh.

He's literally only in this scene. The kills are indiscriminately executed, no moral element at all, which makes the Blob origin all the more chilling
