If you take that somehow funny context of the scene, the death of the girl is actually terrifying. The Blob probably destroyed her nerve system and blocked her brain functions so she would not feel any pain and produce scream or crying immediately. Then it probably destroyed and ate all of her vital organs, and broke her bones by cracking them open or softening them by acid in its structure. It might have been pretty quick and painless death and I guess when the Blob emerged from her, she was already dead, but still poor girl.

From what I've seen of the "The Blob Consumes Paul" video, it would seem that The Blog does indeed have some sort of acidic feature. So, it's possible that, in quietly killing the girl, parts of her were likely melted away by acid.

You got to admit this was a surprise that came out of nowhere. Instead of consuming the girl from outside, it got her from the inside, and then it got the boyfriend from a different angle.

The fact it set up a trap, that clearly denotes intelligence. If it was smart enough to do that, it could have done that multiple times. But only once. I guess since it got big and strong enough, it didn't need to be subtle anymore.

Yes, it used Vicky as bait. It also traps the woman in the phone booth and uses the ceiling twice to sneak on people. It definitely shows intelligence.

Oh yeah this experiment has a twisted sense of dark humor and cruelty. Like after making the Hobo into a Pizza, the Blob made decisions on its prey that were extremely cruel. ALSO the Blob let itself be noticed before attacking Paul. Paul was the first victim it devoured whole, but purposefully left an arm uncovered, AND left a prey behind. This scene demonstrates that it sort of knows human sexual practices and mocks it. It takes that one kid in the Sewer and uses its mangled body as a puppet to taunt the Heroine. instead of mowing over the Flamethrower Solider, it specifically uses a thin rope of mass to clog the FlameHose. And throughout the film The Blob is more often than not likes to partially devour prey and leave them to suffer the partial melt

I feel like this one goes more into the "funny gore", whereas The Thing has such a strong script and atmosphere that you're just riveted. Blob has more of a laugh out loud and get shitfaced vibe to me. I mean, come on, that squishy rubber face wasn't meant to be taken seriously, no?

There's just something about have an actual physical thing that the actors can see, touch, hear, and maybe even smell that gets a better performance out of them than having to play pretend with invisible CGI stuff. Seriously. I feel like reactions to even fakey looking creatures seem more genuine when there's actually something there as opposed to the horrifying CGI creature.

I don't see tears, I think that's just light on a few hairs. Apon closer inspection her eye closer to him twitches a couple of times, probably the actor just fidgeting, but I like to think it's the blob digesting her more, even up to her eyeballs

3:15 (the terrifying part) is where the blob wraps it's tentacles on Scott's right arm. 3:17 when the blob is going to break free and emerges from Vicki's body. 3:23 where the blob emerges from Vicki.

This scene exemplifies the reason why every woman needs a "Consent Blob", an entity that inhabits the body and activates protective measures whenever a woman is about to be assaulted. That way, when the rapist tries to penetrate or grope the woman, the consent blob melts the penis and the arm.

She was already extremely intoxicated/drugged/unconscious so it's likely that she didn't wake up to the initial pain, and was already dead before she could even come to any realization as to what was happening

They are all scary. Beware Of The Blob is very scary as well, from the early 70s. Great actors in it, though was a bit on the low budget side, but very scary, and a lot of the effects people went on to work with John Carpenter's movies, like The Thing. This 80s blob movie is very good.

I found that disturbing as a kid how her face concaves in like that. Seemed a lot more detailed and I could have sworn the guy kicks the door a few times before the glass breaks. Mandela does it again. 😜😜😜
