Plus I think it was a way to get rid of her as you can see when Cassandra storms off deep wasn’t sad or anything he let off some sarcastic statements like “oh now you want to leave”. He was kind of forced into the relationship by the church and he had to stay with her for the sake of getting back in the seven. His depression at the end of season 3 is more on carrying the huge guilt of killing the president and getting exposed for his dark self instead of Cassandra leaving him
