What brilliant idea, one battery that Fits all brands.
This isn't just a good product, it's badly needed.
A quality battery pack that fits all the big brand tools. A lot of people are going to want this so as so many now run different brand tools.
A lot safer than using battery adaptors, this pack has loads of extra battery protection built in. Including inside each slide on adaptor.
cannot wait to see these going on sale.
Check them out here when they go on sale.
ceenr.com/
and you can joint the crowdfunding program here to get discounts when they do go on sale.

I think the real key here, besides the BMS, is what cells they are using. This has a great deal of potential, but I would like to know that they are using a name brand 21700 cell vs something from a Chinese manufacturer like Lishen, BAK or SVolt. Definitely has potential!

Firstly, i must say, fantastic channel, always looking forward to seeing new content. The battery system is a great idea but i have a couple of reservations. First, good idea for the charging system but the covers for the ports doesn't look to impressive and then generally i hope the multi-connect system is built well, tough, because it's probably going to go through more more than a dedicated battery. Maybe the products aimed at the enthusiastic hobbyist/lighter work professional, either way i do wish them well and hope it does what it says on the tin because, as i said good idea.

Looks like a well thought out platform. The only thing missing is the active cooling you get with some of the branded batts and chargers - that lets you put a hot pack on to charge and have the charger cool it before charging it.
@deandohertygreaser

Never put a hot battery on a charger. It the charger thinks it to hot or risky, it will brick the battery.
@johnrumm4786

@@deandohertygreaserI agree you should never actually charge a hot battery - especially fast charge. However Makita's own FAQ states that for platforms like LXT with active cooling, it is ok to put it on the charger when hot. The charger will detect the hot battery, and run cooling only until it is at an acceptable temperature before it actually starts trying to charge it.

In addition to a brittle plastic shell, can't charge on the tool chargers, and you have to use USB c to charge it. USB c is not a robust enough connection for a job site. That USB connecter will be snapped off in no time. Plus dust and debris getting in the charge port. Not ready for prime time.

Seems like a good reason to learn 3D printing software. Then a battery retainer can be whatever you want it to be, once you've got the contact blades sorted. Of course, there is the complexity of battery controllers located in batteries or tools to be considered.

Battery is an excellent idea, my only concern is with being a tradesman, I need multiple batteries and if they're being used on high demand tools, you're going to burn through the charge on those really quickly. All these brands offer rapid chargers to rapidly recharge their own batteries, if the only charging option for these is USBC, That severely limits The battery is usefulness on an actual job site If they develop a rapid charger or even better a multiple Bay rapid charger, this thing could really take a big chunk of market share

But the battery supports power delivery 3.0, so it can negotiate the voltage so that it there are no conversion losses, so it can charge the battery more efficiently and rapidly. Just get a good usb-c cable and a charger, rapid charging is built in, everything else just depends on how many outputs your charger has and how many cables you have.

I am using the usbc laptop charger and it can do 150 watts... But If you want to get shafted by a tool company and pay exorbitant amounts of cash for a two or four bay charger then go ahead.. even apple got forced by the European courts to use USB tape c. Charging by USB tape c is now the gold standard. anyone who thinks that has a lack of power needs to look it up on Google. I use pd 3 with pps.
@Cerv3ra
@Cerv3ra 2 ай бұрын
PD "Power Delivery" is a protocol using USB C and a good charger (15-20 bucks for a good phone charger) and can be the equivalent of a "traditional" charger at 100Wh or 5 Amp hour. So I think they have it sorted.

@@Cerv3rajust looked up the specs of my Milwaukee 6 Bay rapid charger. Granted it will charge four batteries at a time (2 per side) but it says the output is 5.5 amps and 18 volts, convert that over to Watts and it's 108 w, I had no idea you could get 100 w through a USBC cable. If that's the case then these things will be pretty good, you just have to purchase extra cables or wait for them to come out with a purpose-built charger so you can have multiple on standby ready to go

A bit late for that. Bosch already has the ampshare initiative since 2008. There are more than 30 brands which are participating at the moment. It's just a matter of time for the EU to come up with new legislation and make all manufacturers use one battery system. Same as the usb port on I phone.
@stefantrethan
@stefantrethan 2 ай бұрын
None of the top tier tool manufacturers support Ampshare, other than Bosch, and probably never will. Don't get me wrong, some of those brands make top notch equipment in their field, but only in their usually very narrow field that does not support their own battery ecosystem. Using Bosch (or Makita) batteries is just making sense in their case. I'd love a unified battery, but I don't expect that we will see it. Also, I find it rich from Bosch to come up with this, when they themselves made (maybe still make?) two different 12V batteries for the blue and green tools that are made intentionally incompatible by the contour of the molded plastic back piece. When a user asked in their forum why that is the Bosch guy came up with some BS about using higher quality cells in the blue tool batteries. The user then posted photos of both disassembled batteries showing the exact same cells in both.

@@stefantrethan As someone that sells power tools for years now i oftenly talk with people from different brands, Bosch included. And Bosch organize trainings at least twice a year where we can talk in person with their trainers and with the managers. Last october we had more time to talk without any bs and marketing and i asked the trainer the same question i ask every time but ask him to explain me the acctual reason why Bosch still divides their battery platforms and his answer that time was kind of reasonable - he said that they are confident that the "green" tools can work perfectly well with "blue" batteries and the other way around, because they use just as good cells in both platforms, BUT they are not built the same way, and if the "green" batteries fit the "blue" tools most people will buy "green" batteries just to save some money. But because the "blue" baterries are made with much better cooling, better electronics (can't say if thats true), better dust and water resistance, and can take much more beating, those batteries are meant for the jobside where the "green" ones wont last that long, and are much easier to be damaged, and damaged battery can damage the tool, and that cost the customer more time and nervers. But because most customers think that you bs them just to take more money from them, and don't believe any explanation, and because most salesmen don't like to waste time explaining why you have to spend more money for better product and why thats better product (mostly because they don't really care and don't know) Bosch kind of force the customers to buy what they actually need, and not what they want to spend money for. And may be they have a point... because with my experience Bosch batteries, both blue and green are among the most reliable, probably because blue tools users can't use green batteries.

Nice solution for a workshop indeed, would save a lot of chargers and batteries. One thing that does concern me is the USB port on a device that's meant to be for construction; even on phones/laptops/ipads those ports seem to be very sensitive to dust problems and that rubber plug isn't gonna last long with everyday use. Makita removed that USB module from their duo chargers for that very reason.

Will they charge in a manufacturer's fast charger or is it usb-c only? My concern is usability of the USB-C connector which, to be honest, will be a nightmare when there's dust, dirt, moisture or just a pair of heavy gloves involved as they are not designed as a ruggedised connector. I know the battery has a dust seal, which requires you to take gloves off to remove/replace it, but most USB leads don't and one bit of grit will kill both them and the socket it's forced into ... and how many times will the lead be pulled out by the cable either deliberately or accidentally? The big, heavy duty connectors of standard "slap them in" manufacturers' chargers are designed to be abused. The website only mentions USB charging and "a full charge takes 90minutes" ... that sounds painful when you can kill a battery in 30 minutes ... So based only on USB being the sole charging method, I think it's a great idea but needs work.

Great idea, but how long before the big manufacturers dig out their patents for their proprietary connectors and put a stop to it. Shame, but I would expect that to happen as the main profit base for the manufacturers is the sale of their proprietary form of battery, the tool is often sold as a loss leader to get consumers to invest into the specific battery format provided by each manufacturer.

@@deandohertygreaser Great stuff, cant wait to see a teardown. I repair more as a hobby and find manually balancing a faulty battery you can usually get years more life. (If its not damaged a cell)

My only problem with the aftermarket batteries has been the plastic. My pasload Chinese batteries were 1/4 the price but brittle plastic.

@@hamaneenee as of a video of Tools & stuff they don't have any logic on the Makita adapter, there are no electronic components on the board which the yellow contact is connected to. So it won't be able to be charged on a Makita charger.

USB-C only is a deal killer for me. I need to charge 2 or 3 batteries at a time on a jobsite, so 3ea chargers, 65 watts max each, an hour to charge a 3ah battery, 2hrs for 6ah.

Think this is beat for the hobbyiest, let you buy whatever tool available at the right price, no need for a charger and can use it as a battery bank if you're camping etc. Not sure outside of your use case it's quite right for the pro

CAS via Metabo an AMPShare via Bosch already exist. I like the idea yet I find it hard to see this taking off. If this because a threat, manu's would probably discount batteries / put some tech in that prevented this product from working. Many tools also come with batteries or are sold in such a way that it's almost as cheap to include the battery. Some batteries have designs that may not lend themselves to these such as Hilit's Nuron.

Im only on Makita LXT and XGT platforms and only buy their (quite pricey) original batteries,so this isnt for me, but someone who use loads of platforms it might be a good idea. As per Makita nailgun Dean, there is new one coming, shes been shown on Las Vegas World of Concrete event, so in few months should hit the market. It was on LXT platform, but they will definitely drop a XGT too.
