That's also why it was a mistake removing the dinosaurs in the 76 remake, They give Kong the challenge he needs to be deserving of the title "King Kong". Just having a random giant snake doesn't seem appropriate to be a proper opponent for the Eighth Wonder.

Also the monsterverse version should have had some, though at least with the giant skull island triceratops skull tells that there on the island, and other species.

In the 1932 novelization's description of the Kong / Pteranodon fight, it says something like this: 'This time the affair was not a fight. It was far too one-sided for that." It also says that Kong basically tore the Pteranodon to pieces.

I always knew Kong had its place among the rest of its gothic contemporary monster movies. A master class in visual storytelling that deserves its reputation as a classic of the medium. Crazy to think Cooper almost used live animals for his original idea, which would've been very bad for multiple reasons

LOL!!!!!😂😂😂 I agree Snazzy, the fights do seem to be constructed in King Kong's favor, against his reptilian opponents, clearly a gross injustice against reptile/dinosaur kind 😂😂. Watching your video I notice there's a few comparisons to make with the primitive and modern worlds. Kong smashing through a wall to invade the human world. Kong throwing debris at people running past the screen. Kong smashing up a train (which is like a big metal snake). And of course climbing the highest peak and fighting flying opponents. There's probably more in the film proper but just from your video it's fun to see comparisons between the two worlds again purely through visuals.

You do make several points. I want to point out these are because the original was made shortly after the silent age of movies so there might be some visual storytelling rubbing off on Kong.

Gustav Dore has been one of my favorite artists. I remember his work were used on a couple Christian metal albums I had back in the day. They used it on two album covers for the band Bride and also I believe one for the band betrayed.

This is a great video. Being a big fan of both, I always enjoy when people connect Kong to the classic Universal Monsters. I'm glad you picked up on the gothic imagery of Kong as well.

They really cross a line with me for always bringing down the Big Rex. 😡😡 And Kong certainly didn't help. Until Godzilla vs. Kong was released. That's why if I make Kong battle at least one V-Rex, it's has to be the full test of his strength.

EUREKA! We all started off as hardcore dinosaur loving children, naturally we gonna love the ultimate dinosaur Godzilla, but our obsession with him, & him always beating other kaiju, clearly started off because of what Kong did to that T- rex from the outset ! All these years, trying to decipher the obsession, & it was right there in front of us the whole time. lol Now I want Godzilla to whip everyone in GXK, especially Kong for the 3rd time in a row!!! #oscarboy

@@kaijubeyondbelief8053 Most versions of him aren't, but Heisei and Minus One are. However, more often than not, the character is usually depicted as a prehistoric animal in some form, barring some exceptions like the three Reiwa versions that proceeded Minus One

@@MinecraftWorld1954 True. Im mostly going by the original being a cross between a T - rex, an Iguanadon, & a Stegosaurus - according to the original creator(s) of the character. How someone can call themselves a Godzilla fan & not know he is a dinosaur = MIND BLOWN to ELEVEN lol
