An overview of the Brockhampton & Umbridge Railway - a 32mm gauge, 16mm scale garden railway situated in the South of Wales. All structures and the majority of rolling stock have been scratch-built by Peter Butler, the railway's founder and chief engineer. As can be seen, Peter has a vast range of stock - only some of which is seen in this video. As his railway represents a mythical preservation railway society, the stock is varied and quite unusual - certainly not what could be bought off the shelf. For more detail about the railway see the August 2019 edition of Railway Modeller, who kindly granted permission for the shot of the magazine at the start of the video.

What an amazing and atmospheric railway, and great camera work too. A simple "like" doesn't seem enough, I "love" this railway. Oh, to see the little railbus going along speaking the name of the railway as it went, you know, brrrrrrrr (bur). Fantastic.

A lot of very beautiful modelling! Those custom locomotives are incredible, and I really like how that layout has a certain area specifically requiring locos with tramway skirts. Makes a very interesting operation!

My favorite trains on this railroad are the crane engine "George" and the one at 3:24. The engine at 3:24 looks like what would happen if Stephenson's Rocket and Locomotion got together and had a baby.

Absolutely brilliant film Rik of one of the best if not the best lines we have in the UK. Ok I may be a bit bias in the statement, but I have only seen like a suppose most people photos on the Forum of Peter's excellent building of his railway. Your video has brought it to life.... Thank you for posting it Rik and congratulations on another superb video.

Interesting to see the fairlie at the beginning with the wheels out of sync. Not a criticism but unusual in the real thing, garratts too and any double headed steam engines of same wheel size and stroke. They’ll end up synchronised quite quickly. That’s why I noticed it! Everything moving at the right speeds here though! Brilliant

Hi. Peter has detailed all the aspects of building his railway on the gardenrails.org forum. He has a thread on there devoted to all aspects - see gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6537&p=128783 and gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6537&p=146209

Hi, I'm the nitpicker. Now is it "Brockhamton" or "Brockhampton"? With or without a "p" behind the "m"? I ask because it says "Brockhampton" in the title, but "Brockhamton" on the station sign @ 3:30

Hi Jasper, you're absolutely right about the different spelling, which is not uncommon here and adds to the quirky style I like to create. Well done for noticing...... you are paying close attention to the detail. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video.

Yes I did! And more power to you for maintaining a quirky style. It's entirely likable. Or is that "likeable"?
