@@poppatheegoat I like MPJ and he’s definitely good on the Nuggets. That said, I think Bridges would be a big upgrade. Not only for the reasons I mentioned but Bridges can create his own shot unlike MPJ, and he can lead the second unit unlike MPJ. He’s also an extremely low injury risk, unlike MPJ (who I know has been healthy this year but he’s still a big risk due to his back surgeries and leg issue). He shoots threes at a good clip (high 30s) and was runner up DPOY a couple years ago. Maybe the best role player in the league. With the new CBA the nuggets really can’t afford three max players, and Bridges has one of the best contracts in the NBA which would also allow the nuggets to sign another role player with the money left over and add much needed depth. The Nuggets window to win championships is right now, can’t wait for MPJ to make a leap in the playoffs when he can’t even do it in the regular season.

If a team is constantly changing their mind on directions, the correct answer is always to rebuild. You cant compete without a top 15 player on your roster. So if you're changing directions, that most likely means you dont have that top 15 player. If you dont have that top 15 player, then you have to find that top 15 player. That means trading your rotation players for picks and younger players. You dont have to tank if you dont own your picks. You can still compete the best you can with your younger players. But you absolutely have to trade away any vets that might be attractive to contenders for younger players and picks.

This vid is missing tons of context. Every superstar (KD, Kyrie, Harden) requested to leave. Harden was offered a max but bailed due to Kyrie's antics. Even after being offered 2 years/ $84 million, Kyrie continued to be unavailable and requested a trade. KD requested a trade, they kept him, fired Nash, won 18 of 20 games, then he asked to leave again (but not before requesting Sean Marks go too). In the measly 19 games the Big 3 played together, they had the highest offensive rating in NBA history. Brooklyn's goal this year was to stay under the luxury repeater tax and maintain flexibility for 2025 once Ben Simmons contract is up. Ben has the worst contract in the NBA - they have no choice but to try and make it work with him being terrified to shoot. The Brooklyn Nets do not exist as some feeder team to support other big market franchises like LA or the Knicks. The organization never wavered in their mission to compete, it's just that their stars either got crushed/injured in the playoffs or were noncommittal at every step of the way. Vaughn didn't have much to work with, and BKN really wanted Udoka, but the 50pt loss was the death knell. Ollie can tread water and gain experience points for his career until a real Coaching option emerges in the offseason.

The Nets need to establish an identity. I'm a Clippers fan and I know very well the struggles of sharing a market with a popular franchise. Balmer has done an excellent job of marketing to the basketball fan who is not interested in the Hollywood circus and also is more involved in the city's youth than the Lakers are. We will never compete with them, but the fan base is there. The Nets come off like a knock off version of the Knicks. The similarity is that Nets and Clippers fans get pretty deflated when the team is bad and won't show out every night when that happens. So they need to do a better job of establishing an identity in how they play and compete. They can't afford to be bad. That game vs the Knicks in BKN had to be embarrassing for them, its a Knicks town but in previous years the Nets fans never let it get that lopsided. They have a lot of work to do.

The progression of Sean Marks from an impressive upstart GM to one of the greatest clown shows is breathtaking to watch in real time. The James Harden trade is a textbook example of how to fleece a team. The Houston Rockets used Daryl Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers (who were also chasing Harden) as leverage. As a result, the Nets paid a historic price for James that gutted their bench and ensured that resigning Harden was the only way any of it made sense. This is the classic example of a GM failing to do his homework. Harden seeing Brooklyn as meh happened way before CoViD. Bro turned down a HUGE contract extension that should have been a bright red flag to Marks that something was very wrong. It's been a spectacular train wreck ever since. 🚂

It’s not about Ben Simmons. His situation is what it is. The Nets fired Vaughn because he’s failed to develop and build the team around Cam Thomas. Bridges was never meant to be the franchise player moving forward.
@killerjoe7596
@killerjoe7596 5 ай бұрын
The franchise player moving forward is supposed to be the player that's making $37 million a year. That is the crux of the situation. Ben Simmons is overpaid and he's taking up salary cap space which prevents the Nets from getting a star player. The Nets have great supporting players but they need a Luca or a Jokic or a Khwai, or a Paul George. A player that can consistently score thirty a game. And that player should be the guy who has the huge salary. But that guy is being paid $37 million to play sometimes and averages 6 points per game.

@@killerjoe7596 So what are the Nets supposed to do, sit and cry about it? 😄 Bruh, what are you even talking about?
@killerjoe7596
@killerjoe7596 5 ай бұрын
My point is that it IS about Ben Simmons. Simmons is the reason for the Nets failures because he can't produce and the Nets can't get rid of him because of that huge contract. 6 points per game SMH.
@jso416
@jso416 5 ай бұрын
@@killerjoe7596 Simmons is only one player, and he was never an elite scorer to begin with. Simmons was supposed to add value on the defensive end. I agree with you that the Nets made a mistake in making that trade for him, but literally no one knew about the back issues before the trade. The Nets can’t force him onto the court, and if they release him they still owe him the remainder of his contract.
@killerjoe7596
@killerjoe7596 5 ай бұрын
@@jso416 I'm not blaming anybody. I'm saying that Ben Simmons and that big ass contract of his is the reason that the nest can't make any moves for a legit superstar until the end of next season when they will be free of Simmons and his outrageous contract. Simmons was never an elite scorer, but I never thought he was an elite anything. To me he was always a scratch player. Someone who could get up and down the court and do some aesthetic looking things in the open court every once in awhile, but he was never a good point guard; completely inefficient in the half court offense. I don't know why Doc Rivers kept him at point guard. I always suspected that Ben Simmons career was a bit of a fraud. In time I was proven right. One bad player on a basketball team can really screw up that team. Especially if he has an outrageous contract.

They shouldve took the 2 1st round picks for Dinny-Smith. That wouldve been a lot to help rebuild. idk if they can buyout Simmons contract? But id try to trade Cam Thomas to the Pistons for Jaden Ivey. I dont think Ivey & Monty Williams are gonna work well together so Pistons might actually look to trade Ivey. But to have Ivey & Bridges would be better. Make sure to draft a solid player coming up. Idk who is open to get maybe as a free agent?

The Nets are proof that prefabricated “super teams” don’t always equate to rings. The Nets were STACKED & still couldn’t make it work. KD should’ve never left GS because now he’s been exposed. And like Kobe said, Harden will never win a ring.

The Nets FO is delaying the inevitable. Time to burn it down and rebuild already. I'd make everyone not including Cam Thomas available for as many 1st rd picks as possible. I support the JV firing. Nice guy but it's obvious the quality of the Nets play from the beginning of the yr till now decreased drastically. It all seems to have went downhill after that infamous Bucks tank game.
