Throughout History there have been many executions that have been carried out by firing squad. One of these which took place under the cloud of the Cold War was Patrice Lumumba's, the First Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was a man who came from humble beginning to become the Prime Minister for a short time, but he was seen by America as a threat as he would ask the Soviets for help during a military coup. He was overthrown and was then imprisoned under harsh conditions.
But then the authorities in Katanga made the decision to sentence Patrice Lumumba to death, and that evening a hastily gathered firing squad was readied to carry out his execution. Lumumba was forced against a tree and then the executioners shot their weapons, and immediately he was executed. It was a swift and brutal end for the man who many in the DRC saw as a martyr.

The amount of Western funded coups, assassinations, "freedom" fighter-terrorists groups, revenge sanctions, etc in just Africa is mind-boggling.

Tribalism prevails everywhere in Africa. Africans are totally able to organize "coups, assassinations, "freedom" fighter-terrorists groups, revenge sanctions, etc" fully by themselves.

@@ChristopherJones-lt3le whenever you hear someone "asking for Soviet/Russian help", you know it's some Muscovian "operation" to destabilize another region. Lumumba was working for GRU and got punished.

The big problem is not the great landscape and the animals, the problem are the violent and disgusting people who have never been able to care for themselves with food and every sort of justice and self-control. Nice plants and animals but the most brutal and most corruptest peoples of the world ! Let them be under themselves until there will be enough civilization to let them out of the DARK Continent ! Beware of the cruel continent that has never seen a peaceful period! And they are proud of this behaviour !

Very interesting as always, another subject I now know about because of you and your team. Keep up the great work. I find it intriguing that in this time it's referred to as 'desecration" but in the tutor period and before it was a "posthumous execution".

As if apologies justify decades of humiliation, rape and torture of thousands of people. Lumumba and his fellow mates were, before, murdered, tortured for days, until they couldn't move a singel finger. What a shameful page of modern hinstory, and of course Lumumba should have never asked the Soviet Union for help, of course. Of course?

"Lumumba" is a famous drink made of brown rum,ice cubes and cocoa ! It is only an alcoholic drink with ice. In Mallorca you can get it in almost every bar with alcoholic beverages !

Remember it happening and also that Lumumba was a difficult man.However,it was just another example of why independance was given too early.The Congo was not ready to govern itself and certainly got no help from the major powers who of course,put their own interests first!
