Hi Richard, The RAAF had a couple of natural metal MkVIII Spits flying in Oz during WWII. I know the Eduard 1/72 " Aussie Eight " Dual Combo kit offers 3 different NMF schemes and I suspect there might be some reference photos out there somewhere ? Different Mk to your Build but they might be helpful all the same ? In regard to the Mig build in 1/72 scale, it can definitely be done. I haven't built a Mig 15, ( though I've always felt it would be a great subject to foil ), I don't build many jets, but foiling in 1/72nd scale can certainly be done. You will need to use thinner foil and you won't be able to sand the foil once applied. You can still achieve tonal variations by changing the direction of the grain in the foil from panel to panel. The dull side of the foil will suit your purposes better, in my opinion, in this regard. You don't get the same variation from the shiny side, at least in my experience. None the less most of what you do applying foil to the large scale models will translate to the smaller scales. You might find pointed cotton buds and fine cocktail sticks of more value in the smaller scales than the burnishing tools you use on the Larger Models. Not sure if you are aware of it, but there is a fantastic article on foiling on the " Old Model Kits.com " site. I stumbled across the article when I first got into foiling and it has been the foundation of my approach to Foiling ever since . P.S regarding the email I said I'd send you. When tried to send it to your KZfaq email address it spat it back ( probably because I made a mistake with the address 😣) and when I tried to resend it to your personal account I managed to delete the entire email 😖 So no need for an apology for you late reply because I've been even slower getting around to re writing the email again. I will get around to doing it and I'll give you a heads up when I do. 🍻 Dean.
