Neat, never knew the name of it. I have cast on this way for over 60 years...basically, it's the only cast on I can do!

I've been knitting for over fifty years and this cast on is new to me. It's a godsend for the chemo caps I make on circular needles. No more juggling dps or a second circular to get that first round started! Thank you so much.

Love it...you are as nuts as my family! My dad taught me to knit a thousand years ago. He was taught by some Nuns in a kids home he was placed in way back in the 1930's. He could knit but I'm pretty sure none of his male friends knew he could. I was taught to crochet by a school friend when I was about 8-10, somewhere in there, can't remember. I love both but crocheting is cool because you see results fast. I hope I get lots of tips from you and the others on here. Thanks and...most definitely 'yarn on!'😜

Hi, the rest of the sample is a basic stockinette stitch. All knit on one side and all purl on the other. :)
@lauraosgood91304 жыл бұрын
That stitch is called the Double Knit Fabric Stitch. Similar to stockinette but with a slip stitch included. newstitchaday.com/double-knit-fabric-stitch/
@Pixxelina2 жыл бұрын
@@lauraosgood9130 sorry but I have to correct you as this is not the double stockinette stitch. To achieve the pattern in this video, you have to knit all stockinette stitches through the back loop with yarn wrapped from bottom up, while all purl stitches have to be knitted through the back loop with yarn wrapped over the top. 🕊

Good tutorial... but why do so many cast-on videos fail to show starting the next row, so we (well, I, anyway) can see how to keep the first stitch of the next row nice & tight?

I wish to know which other stitch is used in the sample shown.

I love this cast on method, however, I started a scarf with a cable cast on and then directly started 2x2 ribbing from the cast on row. I cannot for the life of me find a video/link/tutorial that explains or shows how to do a cable cast off in ribbing. I tried the stitch over stitch "in pattern" (knit knits, purl the purl stitches) cast off method but it's very square-like (my cast on is tighter and more rounded). I'm super sad lol. Any advice? I don't know much knitting lingo.
@MsBeachLizard8 жыл бұрын
Hi! Nice cast on! I like that one. Question: What are the stitches that are used after that? It's not your typical knit/purl knitting? These look like tiny rope twists! Beautiful. Do you have a video for this?

@beckywilliams99537 жыл бұрын
Can you demonstrate with continental style please if possible?
@deeimpossible6 жыл бұрын
Becky Williams its easy to adapt to continental, basically just hold the wool in your left hand. - slip knot for first stitch, same as standard cast on, - knit 1 stitch as you normally would for standard cast on ( through slip knot, yarn over, pull through, slip onto left needle) - put the right needle in between the slip knot and first stitch as shown in video - treat this like a regular cast on knit stitch (ie, yarn over, pull through, slip onto left needle) - repeat previous steps (minus slip knot obviously) for desired number of stitches

Are you sure this is stocking stitch? It looks like it has have a half V and a bar running up the left side of the stitches...I have searched all my stitch books and haven't found a similar stitch. Hi! My completed knitting projects consist of two baby blankets for our first two grandbabies❤❤ A friend of mine did the casting on and off for me on the first one, and used the Cable cast stitch. Beautiful! The second blanket I got on KZfaq and found the easiest cast on stitch I could find, practiced it, then knitted the blanket very proudly all be myself 😌. This time I want to use a nicer stitch, and I love that it stretches. However, your video moves way to fast for me! Do you have a video with step by step instructions for the Cable Cast On Stitch that you do each step of the stitch s l o w l y ? With 7 steps just to make one stitch, I'm wondering if I can master this. I'd love to try, but I'll never be able to at the rate of speed you do in your video. Obviously I'm in the beginning stages of knitting, I know one stitch, and I'm 64. I wish that I had learned so many years ago when my grandma Sugar wanted to teach me. She wanted to teach me needlepoint too. I was a teenage idiot. Thanks for your help if you can. Yours is the first video I saw when I began looking the other day. I subscribed. 👍 Debbie ✌
