DESCRIPTION
The German Twisted Cast On is a variation of the Long Tail Cast On. It is sometimes known as the Old Norwegian Cast On. By adding an extra twist while casting on, this method gives a little more stretch to your edging. It is also a deeper cast on making it more durable. It works well for socks, mittens, and other ribbing that will get a lot of wear and tear.

The bit about measuring how much yarn you need for the long tail ALONE made this video worth it. Thank you!

Neshnyt Jackalsson TRUE!! I have never been able to figure that out!! I'm making my first top, and I didn't want to have to start over after 100+ cast ons only to find out I'd run out of yarn!!!

This is the third tutorial for the German Twisted Cast On I've watched tonight, and yours is the first that explained the part about taking the finger yarn through the "little triangle." That turned out to be the part I had been missing while I was trying to follow the other tutorials. I am most grateful to you for explaining this so well. Thank you so much!

LOVE this video! I watched about 4 others on same topic and it didn't click, but I followed this one so easily. And the tip about how to measure the yarn to estimate how long of a tail is a game changer! Never again will I cast on 100's of stitches to run out of yarn. Thanks so much!

Excellent video! Thank you for the clear visual and explanation. I'm glad to get rid of the slip knot 'knot'. I've been knitting for 40 plus years and have never seen this C/O. Nice hands too. I'm an artist so hands catch my attention.

Thank you so much for the bit about how to measure out enough yarn for the tail! That is the one part about knitting that delays my projects and makes my super frustrated. It seems so simple, you'd think I would've figured it out already, but I think I just needed someone else to explain it in detail. Thank you!

what needles you prefer for beginers wooden or metals??
@skylarnovak2669
@skylarnovak2669 7 жыл бұрын
For beginners, wood or bamboo needles are preferred that are large in size along with a thick yarn. The wood helps the stitches from falling off the needles when you first start out.

This video was really painful to watch. The explanation was just too slow, and the narrator smacked his mouth in a way that was difficult to listen to. I found another video on KZfaq that was much shorter and more succinct and I picked the technique up in a minute.
