To some lifters, performing in The Cage is the pinnacle of a long and arduous powerlifting journey. They don’t lift in The Cage for titles, trophies, or accolades. They lift for something much bigger-pride. Hundreds of eyes watch their every move, from each drop of sweat that falls to every inch the bar moves. What happens on this stage is a show for the audience, but for the athletes, it’s life.

And with a belt and straps you still can't lift shit. So what's your point?

Belt helps with stability in order to produce power. but it's not going to add anything you didn't train or prepare for. if you think it adds strength, you're going to get hurt. I've hate PRs without a belt. so yeah.

Let this sink in: Rob Hall literally deadlifted until he could have fucking died. Steve Johnson continued to deadlift with half of the skin on his hands gone. Multiple 900+ lb deadlifts, 900+ squats, 700+ bench presses, a 125 lb woman pulling 545.... the Animal Cage is a spectacle to behold for all. All of these athletes are incredible. I look forward to this every year.

That would be pretty cool to lift in the cage. I am 56 years old and raw bench 575-585 range, and growing. One of my goals is to get my 605 raw bench before I turn 57 years old and the other one is to lift in the cage some day This is a great video especially with our vets lifting. Very Impressive. Good motivation! James summed it up well. It is mental more so than physical.

3 THINGS that i've learned from this video are blood is just another type of sweat, and no matter how strong you are if your mindset is not ready then you can't achieve it, and the last thing is Strength doesn't mean the one who can lift the heaviest but the one who DOESN'T QUIT

I only very recently got interested in powerlifting because of Larry Wheels. Seeing videos like this show how incredible this sport actually is.... it's so much more than just lifting some weights, you have to put your whole life and soul into it to become as strong as these guys

Larry Wheels is god tier, amazingly the kid is only 23 still. So much still he can achieve. And ffs, people commenting about roids on a fitness/weightlifting videos... ALL fucking athletes in ALL sports have some form of PED that is commonly used. Get over it, you're not shocking anyone with this knowledge.

Larry is a monster. But I wouldn't advise anyone to follow in his footsteps. Stay drug free. lift big numbers drug free for a while. I guess I get it if it's going to get you money and be at the top of the lifting world. but the vast majority of people taking steroids will never be close to Larry in other words taking unnecessary risks.

This a raw beauty, the strength, the sensation of achieving such high weight goal, the pain, the blood, the tears and the sweat. Those are monsters out there with a smile, cool and intelligent, always happy to help and give an advise, a competition for the few. This is the beauty of powerlifting. Love the pain and stay driven

I got rhabdomyolysis during spring football in college and tried to get through it for almost a week. Every step my legs would buckle. I could slowly and painfully get up to about 45% speed, I would then have to fall down to stop. Finally after 3 days of ice baths 3 times a day, I told the team doc and he took time to the hospital I stayed over night. It took 2 weeks of complete rest with maybe a total of 5 minutes walking a day to finally recover.
