People often say The Catholic Church doesn't have the Holy Spirit. However in this video, former Protestant pastor Keith Nester makes the case for why he thinks the Catholic Church has more Holy Ghost power than anybody.

Very well said Keith. The most important thing I've found by coming back to the Catholic Church, I would say, it's the peace of mind. My life is not perfect, I have all sort of problems, but I know that God is taking care of it....It's like I've found my place. I noticed the difference in me and even other people have started to notice also. I wouldn't trade this peace of mind for anything in this world. Now I fully understand the meaning of "Coming Home". I'm home now, this is my place.

I thought I feel this alone but am on my way to conversion to the catholic church, what I realised is that in the protestant church there you feel alot of anxiety & restlessness as if you will not get what is needed to be a child of God until some sort of manifestation happens, but the few times I have gone to the catholic church, I felt gaining stability & more trust in God, believing in his mercy & will , more peace in the heart, when I feel depressed ,simply I go to mass earlier ,have a few minutes of quiet time medidating & praying then all my fears are gone ,no anxiety but peace. This is the gift of the Holy Spirit ,the more he is invoked before entering the church, at the kneeling & every prayer the more he gives you peace.

"For whoever is ASHAMED OF ME and OF MY WORDS [ or whoever overthrows my words by this faith ], of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels." This bread [ WORD ] is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:51 NIV) . "The Spirit gives life [ to the flesh/ bread/ Word ]; the flesh [/ bread/ Word by itself ] counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are SPIRIT and they are LIFE." (V.63 NIV) "He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me [ by the flesh /Word ] unless the Father has enabled him [ or has revealed the Word to him by the SPIRIT ]." " (V.65) "You search the Scriptures [ by the flesh ] because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they [, the Scriptures that are enabled by the SPIRIT, ] that bear witness about me, yet you [ who do not get a revelation of the Word from the SPIRIT ] refuse to come to me that you may have LIFE." Carl Parna Latino church or Latin mass church? Actually I was a Protestant missionary in Paris, the Holy Spirit guided me from the nouvo ordo French speaking Catholic church to the Latin mass speaking St. Peter community church, at the end HE guided me to the Latin mass Sspx church ( we consider that the concile of Vatican II not valide, because the Peter who owns the keys, has gone astray.) the true Church becomes minority, for HE resists to the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

Greetings! :-) Be very, very, careful,... that we are not invoking a different "Jesus", and a different spirit, from our foolishness and ignorance! The result of which will be very, very costly! "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and SHOW MYSELF TO HIM. (John 14:21 NIV) "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and WE WILL COME TO HIM and MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM. (V.23 NIV) Therefore Paul warned that he who does not obey Jesus' commandments /teaching yet partake in eating the bread and drinking the wine does not discern the body and he eats judgment on himself (1 Cor.11:27-30). There are many who are not true followers of Jesus (who call him 'Lord' but deny His lordship) and who do not know His words and do not obey them and yet partake in the bread and wine. They are ignorantly unaware that a different "Jesus" is showing himself to them. Paul said some of those were sick and some had died after partaking in the bread and wine as a result of their ignorance. Scripture tells us that God's people perish because of ignorance!

I’m in my 50s, a mother of 4, a teacher, had been a devout Catholic all my life and a member of a Catholic Charismatic group. Two years ago, on Pentecost Sunday, I received the gift of healing and gift of tears while I was fulfilling the role of a godmother in a confirmation rite at mass. I have no doubt that the Holy Spirit is very much active in the Catholic Church! Thank God for these gifts of the Holy Spirit!

.It’s wonderful that you had a moving and emotional experience during the confirmation rite, however, tears are not defined as a gift of the Holy Spirit. The church defines the following as the 7 spiritual GIFTS of the Holy Spirit: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel (Right Judgment), Knowledge, Fortitude (Courage), Piety and Fear of the Lord (Reverence/Awe). The 9 FRUITS of the Holy Spirit, signs of the Holy Spirit at work in the soul are: Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control. Many people do mix these up or bring in other attributes, however, these are the ones recognized by the church for ages.

Jesus said in John 14 that He would manifest Himself to those who loved Him and obeyed His teaching/ commands. This is a very deep saying because God's word is sharper than a two edged sword. Take "the SWORD of the Spirit, which is the WORD OF GOD" (Ephesians 6:17) The Word of God is the sword of the Holy Spirit, and it is sharper than any other double edged swords. If you do not have the Word abiding in you, and you do not know His Word and do not obey His teaching, and yet you claim that the Spirit of Jesus manifests Himself to you in the partaking of the bread and wine, then your claim is not in line with the Word of God. Can you call a handicapped "spirit" (without the Sword) the Holy Spirit..?? Can you call the "spirit" who is void of God's Word the Spirit of Jesus..?? Jesus Himself is the Word (John 1:1) who became flesh (V.14), and that's the flesh (Word) that you are eating. Can you call the flesh which is void of the Word the flesh of Jesus, the very flesh that you are eating? When tempted by Satan, Jesus said to him: "It is written, "Man shall not live by BREAD alone, but by every WORD that comes from the mouth of God." " (Matthew 4:4 ESV) Jesus Himself ate every Word that comes from God and He didn't fall into Satan's temptation. Can you, who eat the bread which is void of God's Word, claim to have eaten the flesh of Jesus and have overcome Satan's temptation?

"For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's DEATH until he comes [ and thereby you also proclaim your death to the law of sin until he comes ]. Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner [ /while he is still living in SIN ] will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord [ /guilty of crucifying the Lord all over again ]. A man ought to examine himself [ if he is still under the LAW ] before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the [ death of the ] body of the Lord [ and thereby without recognizing his own death to the law of sin ] eats and drinks judgment on himself." Samandmckenziedoes - I'm historically a devout Church of Christ Christian (and we're typically among the biggest critics of Catholicism). I've been visiting a Catholic church for awhile now, and I have yet to see even ONE person bow down to a statue or pray to it. The WHOLE focus of the entire Mass is God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, more so than at any Church of Christ service I have ever attended. In their songs, and even in their prayers, there's a focus and worshipfulness to a degree I've never experienced - one of many reasons I can now say that I'm soon to become Catholic. Yes, there are statues in every Catholic church building, and I have heard them likened to the collection of family photos you may have hanging on the wall in your house -- we all know without question that they're not the actual people, but are reminders of loved ones. The Catholic Church views all of its saints similarly -- as beloved family. Maybe instead of listening to what your Protestant friends say about Catholics (like I always did, without questioning), you should go and see for yourself, like I've now done. Attending Mass for the first time is a real culture shock, but if you study up a little in advance to understand what's going on and what some of the ritualistic behaviors are all about, you'll understand what an amazingly beautiful experience the Mass is.

Keith Nester The Catholic church was formed by the Holy spirit on Pentecost day. In the book of Heaven Our Blessed Mother explained very clearly how the church was born. The Catholic church is called Holy because of the Divine Sacraments. It's the sacrament of confession specially. GOD GAVE HIS PRIESTS THE POWER TO FORGIVE SINS IN THE NAME OF THE BLESSED TRINITY. THE PASTORS IN THE OTHER CHURCH DO NOT HAVE THIS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE DIVINE SACRAMENTS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THE SIMPLE TRUTH IS THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD ONE FAITH ONE CHURCH . Keep up the good work read the books of Heaven a the MYSTICAL City of God both given to the Holy Catholic church by our Blessed Mother.

Also when the Conclave of Cardinals is about to elect the Pope they are praying tirelessly for the guidance of the Holy Spirit and before each voting session they sing or pray the Veni Creator Spiritus, thus we can say that the Pope is elected through the cardinals by the Holy Spirit.

@John Wilson The ultimate gift (and burden) of free will is there in the cardinals as well, and they're are also subject to influence of evil forces, that's why we should always pray for our pastors. Nevertheless, I admit that there were procedures and persons of questionable nature, yet I believe everyone who has ever officially occupied the papal throne was part of the divine plan.

Thank you Mr. Keith for this video. Please pray for me. I wasn’t a believer in Christ until the age of 17. My family is Assemblies of God and I am assemblies of God currently and have been since I became a follower of Christ until now at the age of 21. I saw one of your videos in my recommended and watched your conversion story and i have been really looking into the Catholic Church more and more. There are things I still struggle with that my friends and family around me tell me like “They pray to Mary and the saints but Jesus is the only mediator” or “They call priests fathers it there is only one father” but at the same time the A lot of Protestant denominations call people “Fathers in the faith” which to me seems like the same thing. I’ve also watched a couple of Fr. Mike’s videos and I’m scared to even been seen or heard talking about the Catholic Church or watching anything in regards to Catholicism with my family or people around me. Please pray that if this is where the Lord is leading me that he guide me because I know he can make a way for me to find the truth it’s just hard sometimes. Thank you brothers and sisters!! God bless all of you.

You go, Keith. The plethora of misinformation about AUTHENTIC, TRADITIONAL Catholicism defies my ability to express. I'm in my 70's. I grew up and have spent my life watching my wonderful (now rip parents) being slammed. I personally experience, ti the present day, on a routine basis, faith based discrimination. This is because of: ignorance, hostility, (largely "based on misinformation & disagreement.") And 3rd, in USA there are 3 protected groups anyone's free to attack with zero fear of any bv reprisal: 1. smokers, 2. fat people & 3. catholics. I'm grateful you accepted God's grace for conversion. Humbling yourself to the Blessed Mother is a sign that someone is filled with the Holy Spirit. Saint Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, who was filled with the Holy Spirit, sets a good example in Luke 1:41-43. 41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the child leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit 42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, " Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Sober intoxication of the Holy Spirit! I finally read through the catechism with the 365 days version from USCCB. Really good! Very detailed, but all necessary. It challenged me in topics that I haven't put into practice in faith. Being Catholic means not picking and choosing but believing and living the whole thing. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is what I'm trying to understand better. Because like you quoted from 1 Cor, the Holy Spirit is dynamic but is also orderly.

Keith, you are an awesome teacher of the faith...and 'down to Earth' to the core! You kind of remind me of St. John Bosco, after reading about 10 books by and about him. Like other Saints before him (i.e. Saint Francis, St. Patrick, St. Philip Neri, etc...) St. John Bosco was very friendly, direct and social and in his living, teaching and preaching during his day. And, the funny thing about him, is that even his companion priests in 1800's Turin, Italy...were often his persecutors, not really understanding him well, and even going so far as to try to have him sent to an insane asylum when he was a young priest. Yet, he accomplished very great things for God and the True Faith and the religious order he started (The Salesians) is now the 3rd largest in the Catholic Church. So, keep up the great videos! Your teaching style is a 'breath of fresh air'...and obviously inspired by the Holy Spirit in our modern KZfaq and internet era of Christian evangelization!

All evangelical churches were definitely inspired by a spirit but that spirit wasnt holy. If that was the case, they wouldnt be as divided as they are right now. Also people cant differentiate between emotions and a holy spiritual encounter. It makes sense once you figured out that evangelical churches are 80% music, 20% preaching.

I just had an experience with the Holy Spirit. On Saturday evening, I served as a Lector at Mass for my first time since doing it at school Masses as a student 15 years ago. I was very nervous going into it as it can be very nerve-wracking to be standing in front of the congregation to read the Word of God to the congregation. I was the second reader, so, as the last verse of the Psalm was being sung, I said a short prayer. As I was beginning to read, I felt a warm feeling rush over me like a tidal wave and felt a sense of calmness. I was still a bit nervous, but I felt much calmer. I then felt as though I went into autopilot as I was reading as though the Holy Spirit just took over what I was doing. It turned out that I did a very good job for my first time. Needless to say, I felt the Holy Spirit take over and calm me down while I was reading the Word to the congregation. It was truly special.

Talk about a timely message for me! I just spoke on the phone with my uncle Saturday and he is very against my conversion to Catholicism. One of the things he said was “Well, what I know about is feeling the presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit and I don’t think they have that.” Ugh. There was more to the conversation and I hung up just feeling kinda down. I invited him to my confirmation that is coming up and he doesn’t want to come. I told him that was cool. I understood. My dad (his little brother) died a few years ago and so he has stepped in some, in a way, in kind of a dad role. He never had children of his own. I am trying not to let it hurt my feelings. He’s in his 70’s and set in his ways. But, sometimes it breaks my heart a little that so many misunderstand our Catholic Faith so much. I very much wish they could see the beauty of it. I wish they could understand what it’s like to know Jesus is present in the Eucharist. I wish they could understand the authority of the Church. But, all I can do is pray for them and hope they see some of that beauty in me. I answer questions if asked but, I don’t push teaching on them. Anyway, it’s nice to share this with people who understand. God bless you!

Oustanding video! I know ladies who speak in tongues and say they hear from the holy spirit all the time and see things in the spirit. Prophesying things that never come to pass. Saying the holy spirit gave them a revelation about someone or a situation that was way off. It strikes me as emotionalism and a desire to really believe what you want to believe more than anything else.

I'm glad I came across this video because it touches on something I realized right away after returning to the church. Prior to coming home, I bounced around some protestant churches, looking for something. I used to tell pastors who would ask that I wasn't sure what the right church looked like but I'd know it when I found it. What I did know was that I didn't want any part of a dogmatic ritualistic faith like Catholicism. Anyway, after being disillusioned for the fourth time or so I decided to give the Catholics another try after a 45 year absence and right away it just felt right. A big part of it was the structure, the thing I said I wanted no part of. I never felt comfortable in any other church and I couldn't put my finger on it until I came home. The other churches I had tried seemed to be operating in an ad-hoc fashion, almost like they were making it up as they went along. Perhaps it was because I was attending nondenominational churches with no real tradition, but it didn't dawn on me until I attended Mass. I rediscovered the beauty of the Catholic Mass. I thought it was just me but seeing this video lets me know I'm not the only one who picked up on that. You better believe we have The Holy Spirit in us, He is the one who led me home. Great video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter.

Hi Keith- I found this helpful with the 9 or 12 Fruit of the Holy Spirit- And this commentary from Haydock’s Bible Commentary: Ver. 22. The fruit of the Spirit is charity, &c. There are numbered twelve of these fruits in the Latin, though but nine in the Greek text, in St. Chrysostom; St. Jerome; St. Augustine, tract. lxxxvii. in Joan. p. 756. The difference may again happen by the Latin interpreter using two words to express one Greek word. It is observed, that longanimity and patience are in a manner the same; so are benignity and goodness; and so may be here continency and chastity. (Witham)
@kimmylee31
@kimmylee31 4 жыл бұрын
Paul lists the following 9 fruits: “. . . love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” [Gal 5:22-23] Three are added in the traditional list: goodness, modesty, chastity. This is because they further spell out what is latent in neighboring fruits (goodness in relation to kindness and generosity; modesty and chastity in relation to self-control); and because they specifically oppose certain “works of the flesh” listed just before (vv 19-21). Goodness specifically contrasts with “rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, . . . dissensions, factions.” Modesty and chastity oppose “immorality, impurity, licentiousness, . . . occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies.”
